Those of us of a certain age remember the 205 GTI 1.9 as being THE hot hatch to have in the late 80s and early 90s. The 205 GTI gets all the plaudits now (and values of pristine cars have rocketed of late), but back then it was the 309 GTI that had the motoring magazines enthusing about it's combination of gutsy performance and pin-sharp handling. Autocar and Motor magazine named it "Best Hot Hatch" 3 years in a row, and in 1991 a 309 GTI won the Esso Superlube Saloon Car Championship, beating BMW E30 M3s and Ford Sierra Cosworths on the way to the title. The 309 GTI was produced in a limited numbers of just 5300 cars produced by early 1992, and featured Italian Red paint, Speedline alloy wheels with polished rims, full black with red accents interior, GTI badges, a leather-rimmed MOMO steering wheel . It had just 1 owner and 58K kilometers, and in near perfect order. and preserved in time-warp condition. According to 309 registry, there are just over 2000 309 GTI currently on the road,. Compared with the 6,000 or so 205 GTIs still around , the 309 GTI is a very rare model, and so to find one that has been preserved in standard, unmodified condition is very special indeed. Here is our assessment of the condition of the car: Exterior bodywork and paint The Ilaian RED paint is in fantastic condition, with a deep shine and virtually no blemishes. There are no dents on the body panels. The bumpers and side rubbing strips are all in excellent condition, as are the spotlights and foglights to the front spoiler. There are a couple of very minor mark to the rear quarter, only visible upon very close inspection. The GTI badges are all perfect. Chassis and structure The underside of the car is very clean, with the factory applied underseal and paint in excellent condition. The wheelarches are also very clean and all original. I can find no corrosion on the bodyshell at all, or any evidence of any previous repairs. Engine and gearbox Like travelling back 20 years! The torque-rich 1.9 XU9 engine burbles away at idle, has a lovely crisp throttle response and delivers punchy acceleration through the close ratio 5-speed gearbox. The clutch and gearbox change action both feel fresh and much more like a 2 year old car than a 26 year old one! All fluids are clean and to the correct levels, the car having been fully serviced in January 2015, including a brake fluid change. Unlike any other Goodwood I have seen in the past few years, it does NOT feature an aftermarket exhaust or an induction kit - just the standard items specified by Peugeot. Steering, ride, handling & brakes Absolutely superb throughout. The steering is direct, communicative and full of feel, the ride is supple, combining soft spring rates with taut damping, so at everyday pace the Goodwood feels civilized and comfortable. Turn up the wick a bit and the whole car comes alive, with fabulous neutral handling, no understeer to speak of, and wonderful balance through the bends. The brakes are perfectly matched to the weight of the car, delivering stability and confidence to the driver. All in all, it's a lovely thing to drive along an A or B road, and it doesn't need to be driven at warp factor 10 to deliver a fantastic driving experience! Interior, dash and controls The seats are in excellent supple condition, showing no visible wear, just a few subtle creases to mark the passage of time. The dashboard is very clean and surprisingly creak/rattle free for a 90's Peugeot. There is a blanking plate for the fuses I have had to replace the glovebox lid, as these are notorious for snapping their catches. The correct replacement lid fits perfectly. The original-fit Clarion PU-9318A radio/cassette unit is unfortunately no longer with the car, a more modern CD unit is fitted instead. All the gauges, controls and electrics work as they should. The doorcards and carpets are in perfect condition. The vacuum sealed glass sunroof works correctly, and the headlining is unmarked. As far as I can tell, the car has never been smoked in. Wheels and tyres The GTI only Speedline alloy wheels are in excellent condition, with no kerbing to the polished rims and no marks to the painted face of the wheels. The tyres are Bridgestones all around. The spare wheel is also in great condition, with a new budget tyre fitted History and paperwork The car comes with it's original Peugeot book pack, including Owner's Handbook, Maintenance Record and Dealer Location Guide. The Maintenance Record shows service stamps, the first 8 from the supplying Peugeot main dealer. Summary A very rare car indeed, and one which is as exhilarating to drive now as it was when new. Remaining in pristine condition throughout, this classic "hot hatch" has benefited from the care and attention of a long term owner from new, which has helped it avoid ever being "just an old Peugeot". It has moved seamlessly from cherished new car to cherished modern classic, and may well be unique in that respect as so few Goodwoods were ever produced. USA Registered and Track-Ready Peugeot 205 GTi Up for sale is my 1985 Peugeot 205 GTi. Just recently registered in the state of Maryland; this 205 GTi is ready for track days or weekend driving! It's a rare car in Europe, but even more so here in the U.S.. However, all of that can be taken out and the full rollcage and racing seat and harness can be put in. Both the seat and harness already have the anchors in place. So, it's only maybe a couple hour job to take the nicer bits out and have it ready for track action. As you can see in the pictures; it's already seen some time on the track. The car is extremely reliable for its age. It has a number of newer parts, including a brand new fuel pump, new oil filter, spark plugs, alternator belt, etc.. However, it is old. There are a few dings on the side of the body and minor scratches from idiots who do not know how to open their car doors. The plastic strip between tail lights also cracked in half during this last winter. However, I have a very hard to find reflective version of it with the text "Peugeot 205" that can be used instead (very 80s). The front spoiler is also cracked. And there is a little bit of rust on the outside of the hatch. All of it is very minimal and easily fixed. My suggestion would be to take the trim off (I have extra trim clips), fix the few blemishes, and repaint it. Other than that, I don't recall any major rust problems. The wheel wells, body, frame, and undercarriage are all quite clean. It is also right-hand drive. Some rumors need to be squashed about RHD vehicles. First off, the clutch is not opposite of LHD. Secondly, neither is the shifting. No it's not completely opposite of how a LHD manual vehicle is driven. The only difference is that the gear shift is on your left, rather than the right. That's it. For this vehicle, you will barely feel any difference between it being LHD and RHD because of how small it is. It does have newer LHD headlights. So you will not be blinding anyone if you decide to drive it at night. Why didn't I buy a LHD version? I bought this car from a really nice elder lady who lives in Whales. Her husband, a car collector, had passed away. I had looked for a LHD one in Spain, Portugal, and France. However, finding the right one that wasn't Jacky-tuned, the right color, and in decent condition was not successful. It's a very cool car. It drives like a hooligan and it definitely turns a lot of heads. Rally fans will absolutely enjoy this tiny monster. Selling because of lack of space. Feel free to ask any questions.

Runs great, just add gas!THIS IS NOT a car that has been languishing in somebody's wet garage because it won't start or in storage under a tarp untouched since the early 80s. Check out my store for more great Unique and Classic Cars. This car runs is a good runner but has been sitting awhile so is going to need some work to get it running. It has the Big Block 400 with a 4-Speed Manual Transmission which makes this car a blast to drive. I used to start these cars up once a month or so to keep all the seals tight and the cars running but have not been able to keep up on that for awhile. This car was a runner before I parked it and I'm sure wouldn't take much to get it going again. Maybe even just a battery. The fuel should be drained as its 4-5 years old Who knows you may replace a Fuel pump Water pump or something But a Bit of tinkering and this car is set to go the pictures were from last summer so maybe a sticker is more peeled up or some minor something but this is a Tight car that is a Orig 4spd 400 Trans Am. Drive it around and Enjoy it until you decide to pull it apart and restore it..;-) Its a great driving car. This Project will make someone a GREAT Investment car But NO you cannot hop in it and drive it to Florida... No i wouldent do it after you drained the fuel either it has not been on a trip that long in God knows how long. The exterior of this car is beautiful. It is a bright orange in color with the big black and silver bird on the hood and matching decals. The paint is in very good shape still and shines up nice. It is a little faded right now just from sitting but when buffed comes out very nice. This car does have a sunroof which someone put in and should be sealed up when restored it isnt a leaker though although im sure it will at some point. The body is very straight on this car and it doesn't have any visible rust. The previous owner installed a few extra exterior lights which you can see. Has a very cool set of aftermarket Gold Wire Wheels and a set of White Walls Tires that really give this car a unique look. They also put fender flares on the car which really makes it look unique. I have never seen them Before This is a 2 Owner car that came from Arizona and never seen the road in the winter anywhere it is ready to tinker around on...;-). While that might seem a bit 'heavy', we can sell you a showroom-fresh classic like this 1,418-mile DeLorean that's so nice it's virtually timeless. So, if you're willing to limit your time travel to something that's more akin to a time capsule, step into the realm of this stunning DMC-12 where, as John Z. DeLorean put it, "unique is a virtue"! Production of 'The DeLorean' was a direct result of many automotive forces combining their skills to create something universally beneficial. In America, Detroit visionary John Z. DeLorean had quickly climbed the ranks of Chrysler, Packard and General Motors in hopes of establishing his own automotive entity. In Italy, world-renowned stylist Giorgetto Giugiaro was in the midst of introducing a crisp design language dubbed 'folded paper'. And in the UK, storied Lotus founder Colin Chapman was looking for engineering work to fund his troubled automotive boutique. In 1975, DeLorean officially chartered the DeLorean Motor Company. By 1976, he had a running prototype of the 'Z Tavio', an innovative coupe that would be offered to the public for roughly $12K. In 1978, DeLorean Motor Company broke ground on its first factory in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. And in 1981, with the help of Giugiaro and Chapman, the DMC-12 was officially introduced. DMC's sensational coupe takes shape thanks to Glass Reinforced Plastic that's cloaked in brushed, 304-grade stainless. The idea was to create a profile that wouldn't chip, fade or blemish. And, knowing stainless is notoriously hard to re-shape, DeLorean made sure every panel could be replaced as needed. Designed to be both fun and efficient, that profile achieves a super slick .35 Coefficient of Drag. Noise and vibrations are isolated via Lotus-developed polyurethane foam. And plastic, body-matched bumpers ensure years of low-speed durability. This particular DMC-12 differs from typical low-mileage examples in that its current owner conducted a $30K update which was designed to address known durability issues. That means you can purchase this showroom-fresh gem with the confidence of knowing everything, from its fresh tires to its re-grained steel, is right, tight and ready to roll! A late 1982 build that was actually assembled by Consolidated International, this car represents the very best of what Dunmurry had to offer. And, as a fully-sorted garage queen that's only seen three owners, it's one of the nicest DeLoreans on the planet! At the front of its body, a freshly painted valence hangs clear headlights, amber parking lamps and a familiar, "DMC" branded grille over a wind-cheating spoiler. At the top of that grille, a '82-exclusive hood founds a '82-exclusive "DeLorean" script in front of dark-tint glass and functional engine louvers. At the sides of those louvers, freshly striped fenders center power, partitioned windows between sporty hash marks and clean "DMC" call-outs. And at the back of the car, a second freshly painted valence centers new taillights above small stainless exhaust tips. During the DMC-12's development, engineers considered a variety of powerplants. For example, DeLorean's original prototype utilized a Citroen rotary mill. When that engine went out of production, Ford's Cologne V6 was heavily considered. But, ultimately, the 2.85 litre Peugeot Renault Volvo V6 was chosen for its combination of performance and durability. Utilizing aluminum construction, overhead camshafts and 2 valves per cylinder, this proven powerplant turns smooth 8.8 to 1 compression into a 130 horsepower and 162 lb./ft. torque. And, despite moving a relatively heavy payload, those respectable numbers provide great fuel economy! Aesthetically, everything on this PRV, from its stock internals to its Bosch fuel injection, reflects a history of fastidious maintenance. Twist the key and the cylinders rumble to life, sending their rhythmic notes through a subtle exhaust system. And with one tap of the throttle, the engine zings smoothly toward redline. Take a look under this factory-spec cruiser and you'll find straight, freshly-sorted mechanicals that are clean and weather-free. Originally intended as a mid-engine platform, the DeLorean ultimately slid its V6 rearward to accommodate a 3-speed Peugeot Renault Volvo transaxle. The car's body rides on a 2-piece Glass Reinforced Plastic monocoque that's mated to a Lotus-inspired double-Y chassis. That chassis' fully independent suspension combines speed proportional rack and pinion steering with two 10-inch rotors, two 10.5-inch rotors and four power-assisted calipers. Exhaust rolls through stainless steel pipes that, like the car's stainless exterior and epoxied chassis, were built with ultimate durability in mind. At the corners of the floor, a-symmetrical alloys spin 195/60R14 Falken Ziex ZE-912s in front of 225/60R15 Falken Ziex ZE-912s. DMC offered strictly monochromatic leather inside their futuristic creation and, accordingly, this 12's clean cabin is decked in factory-fresh gray. Hoist the LED-lit doors and a plush driving environment kicks off with a pair of comfy buckets that were specifically designed to accommodate the 6'4" stature of creator John DeLorean. In front of those buckets, a pliable dash anchors correct 80 MPH gauges above electronic climate control and a modern Pioneer CD player. While that might seem a bit 'heavy', we can sell you a showroom-fresh classic like this 1,418-mile DeLorean that's so nice it's virtually timeless. So, if you're willing to limit your time travel to something that's more akin to a time capsule, step into the realm of this stunning DMC-12 where, as John Z. DeLorean put it, "unique is a virtue"! Production of 'The DeLorean' was a direct result of many automotive forces combining their skills to create something universally beneficial. In America, Detroit visionary John Z. DeLorean had quickly climbed the ranks of Chrysler, Packard and General Motors in hopes of establishing his own automotive entity. In Italy, world-renowned stylist Giorgetto Giugiaro was in the midst of introducing a crisp design language dubbed 'folded paper'. And in the UK, storied Lotus founder Colin Chapman was looking for engineering work to fund his troubled automotive boutique. In 1975, DeLorean officially chartered the DeLorean Motor Company. By 1976, he had a running prototype of the 'Z Tavio', an innovative coupe that would be offered to the public for roughly $12K. In 1978, DeLorean Motor Company broke ground on its first factory in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. And in 1981, with the help of Giugiaro and Chapman, the DMC-12 was officially introduced. DMC's sensational coupe takes shape thanks to Glass Reinforced Plastic that's cloaked in brushed, 304-grade stainless. The idea was to create a profile that wouldn't chip, fade or blemish. And, knowing stainless is notoriously hard to re-shape, DeLorean made sure every panel could be replaced as needed. Designed to be both fun and efficient, that profile achieves a super slick .35 Coefficient of Drag. Noise and vibrations are isolated via Lotus-developed polyurethane foam. And plastic, body-matched bumpers ensure years of low-speed durability. This particular DMC-12 differs from typical low-mileage examples in that its current owner conducted a $30K update which was designed to address known durability issues. That means you can purchase this showroom-fresh gem with the confidence of knowing everything, from its fresh tires to its re-grained steel, is right, tight and ready to roll! A late 1982 build that was actually assembled by Consolidated International, this car represents the very best of what Dunmurry had to offer. And, as a fully-sorted garage queen that's only seen three owners, it's one of the nicest DeLoreans on the planet! At the front of its body, a freshly painted valence hangs clear headlights, amber parking lamps and a familiar, "DMC" branded grille over a wind-cheating spoiler. At the top of that grille, a '82-exclusive hood founds a '82-exclusive "DeLorean" script in front of dark-tint glass and functional engine louvers. At the sides of those louvers, freshly striped fenders center power, partitioned windows between sporty hash marks and clean "DMC" call-outs. And at the back of the car, a second freshly painted valence centers new taillights above small stainless exhaust tips. During the DMC-12's development, engineers considered a variety of powerplants. For example, DeLorean's original prototype utilized a Citroen rotary mill. When that engine went out of production, Ford's Cologne V6 was heavily considered. But, ultimately, the 2.85 litre Peugeot Renault Volvo V6 was chosen for its combination of performance and durability. Utilizing aluminum construction, overhead camshafts and 2 valves per cylinder, this proven powerplant turns smooth 8.8 to 1 compression into a 130 horsepower and 162 lb./ft. torque. And, despite moving a relatively heavy payload, those respectable numbers provide great fuel economy! Aesthetically, everything on this PRV, from its stock internals to its Bosch fuel injection, reflects a history of fastidious maintenance. Twist the key and the cylinders rumble to life, sending their rhythmic notes through a subtle exhaust system. And with one tap of the throttle, the engine zings smoothly toward redline. Take a look under this factory-spec cruiser and you'll find straight, freshly-sorted mechanicals that are clean and weather-free. Originally intended as a mid-engine platform, the DeLorean ultimately slid its V6 rearward to accommodate a 3-speed Peugeot Renault Volvo transaxle. The car's body rides on a 2-piece Glass Reinforced Plastic monocoque that's mated to a Lotus-inspired double-Y chassis. That chassis' fully independent suspension combines speed proportional rack and pinion steering with two 10-inch rotors, two 10.5-inch rotors and four power-assisted calipers. Exhaust rolls through stainless steel pipes that, like the car's stainless exterior and epoxied chassis, were built with ultimate durability in mind. At the corners of the floor, a-symmetrical alloys spin 195/60R14 Falken Ziex ZE-912s in front of 225/60R15 Falken Ziex ZE-912s. And, if you're a stickler for absolute authenticity, the car's original Goodyear NCTs ARE included with our sale. DMC offered strictly monochromatic leather inside their futuristic creation and, accordingly, this 12's clean cabin is decked in factory-fresh gray. Hoist the LED-lit doors and a plush driving environment kicks off with a pair of comfy buckets that were specifically designed to accommodate the 6'4" stature of creator John DeLorean. In front of those buckets, a pliable dash anchors correct 80 MPH gauges above electronic climate control and a modern Pioneer CD player. Below that dash, a stitched leather console centers a decidedly 80s shifter and factory power window switches on fresh carpet that's protected by "DMC" branded floor mats. Opposite that console, padded side panels hang controls for both power mirrors and power door locks above sculpted armrests and small pull straps. Above those panels, a new headliner frames small reading lamps and a self-dimming mirror. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped, 3-spoke steering wheel laps a fully adjustable column. Behind the passengers, a small cargo hold features a requisite Flux Capacitor. And in front of the cockpit, a forward-tilt bonnet reveals four cubic feet of storage space. It has the 2.7L PRV engine in it which is a collaboration motor that Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo all went in on. It is a powerful motor and was only put in certain car. Then you add the fact that this car is a 5-Speed Manual with Overdrive which was a rare option and this car is sweet. This is a rare car that you don't see many of. This is a 1 Owner Car and has low miles at 113K Original. This car spent most of it's life in Europe and was a Special Ordered Diplomat Car. The previous owner kept all the manuals and even filled out all the mileage and locations. He even had all the service manuals for the car which is very cool but these do not go with the car. You can tell he really cared for this car. The car is very fun to drive and just cruises down the road. Under the hood and undercarriage are clean and dry as can be. Make sure to watch the video I do a complete walk around of the car inside and out and even take it on a test drive. This is a 1 Owner Car The exterior of this car is beautiful. It is silver in color and has a very nice shine to it. It is starting to fade on the top surfaces but nothing major and the car still looks great. All of the chrome and trim are very nice and clean on the car and the chrome just shines in the sun. This car is straight as can be and you can tell it was definitely cared for over the years. It has a very nice set of Aftermarket Factory 15" Volvo Wheels on it which I'm not sure if came on the car or were added afterwards. Either way the look great. It has a very nice set of Pirelli Tires that are fairly new and I would say have about 90% tread left. These are very nice tires that have a lot of miles left on them and even still have the titties on the side.
