But, when the GTO officially kicked off the muscle car wars, it wasn't GM's impressive engineering prowess or Pontiac's hard-fought performance image that turned the car into a legend. It was the opportunity for any customer to walk in to the showroom, buy a small platform with a big engine, and, with the flip of a checkbook, deck it out with some major performance hardware. It's hard to think of any GTO that embodies that 'build-to-suit' mindset better than this professionally tweaked drop-top. With a massaged big block, a tough Muncie 4-speed and head-turning aesthetics, it's the perfect cruiser for any muscle car enthusiast who wants to prowl the show field and burn up the streets! BODYWORK/TRIM While this real-deal GTO's classic good looks originated in the mind of engineer John Z. DeLorean, it was the professionals at Tony's Muscle Cars of Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania that ensured its present appearance is top-notch in virtually ever way. Back in 1999, a meticulous mechanic, who remains friends with the car's current owner, orchestrated a body-off, rotisserie restoration that dressed original sheetmetal and original floorpans in a roster of NOS componentry. Fast forward to late 2015, when the crew at Tony's thoroughly freshened that reboot and added rich Burgundy 2-stage that perfectly contrasts the car's clean white top. And today, this razor-sharp Poncho is a first class head turner that's solid, composed and ready for prime time! ENGINE Peek under the fully functional hood and you'll find a '72-spec 455 that was completely rebuilt by the pros at Jim Taylor Engine Service of Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania. At the top of that Turquoise mill, a Ram Air IV Quadrajet bridges the gap between stainless fuel lines, a date-correct air cleaner and a port-matched Ram Air IV intake. That air/fuel mixture floods '69 Ram Air IV heads, which hide Manley valves, Comp springs, Comp roller rockers and Crane chromoly pushrods under polished covers. That valvetrain is propelled by a balanced rotating assembly, which spins TRW pistons between Clevite bearings, a Crane cam and high quality Melling lifters. That assembly gets sparked by MSD 6AL ignition, which sequences fire through a traditional points distributor and Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables, jet-coated '69 Ram Air IV exhaust manifolds make quick work of spent gases. At the front of those manifolds, old school pulleys spin a rebuilt alternator and factory power steering in front of Edelbrock timing components. And a fresh brake booster, a factory-spec radiator and a familiar Melling oil pump keep the fluids flowing. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Logging few miles since the car's freshening, this goat's fully restored undercarriage is completely free of significant issues and major defects. The stout big block commands a tough Muncie 4-speed with the help of a beefy Hayes clutch. That proven gearbox grinds power to a rebuilt GM 10-bolt, which spins a posi-trac differential around friendly 3.36 gears. That drivetrain rides in a familiar F41 Sports Suspension. At the corners of that suspension, power-assisted calipers clamp drilled and slotted rotors. A custom, true-dual exhaust system connects the car's coated manifolds with welded, dual-chamber mufflers and polished stainless tips. And a quartet of U.S. Mags Ramblers spins 245/45ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 285/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. INTERIOR Swing the doors and you'll find a clean vinyl interior that feels like the perfect place to spend a warm summer evening. Front and center, a trio of bench and bucket seats includes a rare reclining throne for the car's front passenger. The 455's vitals are displayed by a deluxe Rally Gauge Cluster, which complements a customized hood tach. Like-new carpet anchors a chrome Hurst shifter inside a factory-spec console. At the sides of the car, pliable door panels mix crank windows with manual locks. In front of the driver, an optional Sport Steering Wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a restored and matted trunk anchors a full-size spare tire beneath correct decklid decals. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONThe car's original Owner's ManualThe car's original factory literatureStacks of itemized restoration receiptsPaperwork and receipts for the car's professional engine buildComponent paperworkPontiac Historic Services paperwork Fully sorted and ready to roll, this iconic GTO is an ideal blend of performance and style. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1967 Pontiac LeMans World's Finest Frame Off Restored Lemans Convertible 326/285 HP V8 PS PB Year: 1967 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Blue Mileage: 13718 Transmission type: 2 Speed Automatic Engine: 326 V8 H.O. Interior color: Black Vehicle Info Like the Catalina that came before it, the LeMans was one of those cars Pontiac aced right out of the gate. Eventually, thanks to GM's continuous improvement and consumer's continuous support, the marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history. And at one point, with a full list of body styles, options, trim grades, color combinations and mild to outrageous engines, the challenge became picking a platform which optimized variety and livability. Whoever filed the order form for this investment grade drop-top probably came as close as you can get to having it all. Its original, high output V8 is a go-to heavyweight for both stoplight brawlers and pony car enthusiasts. Its original Powerglide transmission is as smooth as it is reliable. Its super slick Tyrol Blue on Black color combination literally defines the word classic. And just last year, it took home Best of Show at the AACA meet in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. If you're in the market for a top notch example of one of the coolest muscle cars ever produced, this impressive LeMans is just your style! In addition to historic dealer documents and a stack of restoration receipts, the sale of this wide-track beauty includes an original Protect-O-Plate. The car's transformation began in 2006, when its current owner stripped its solid body all the way down to bare metal. With that body smooth and clean, a thick layer of primer was buried in two coats of correct Tyrol Blue Deltron. That Deltron was carefully dusted in PPG 2021 clear. And today, this top notch Poncho is as a spectacular muscle car which combines the best aspects of storied tin indian performance with the gratuitous fun and old school style that only a classic convertible can provide! Tough, understated and attractive, this LeMans perfectly defines Pontiac's lasting legacy of tempering sophistication with aggression. The front of the car is dominated by segmented and stainless-trimmed grilles, which are anchored between stacked T3 headlights, a broad chrome bumper and restoration-fresh marker lamps. Above those grilles, a serious "PONTIAC" script perfectly complements a familiar, Satin Silver arrowhead that's adhered to a conservative hood. At the sides of that script, expressive 'coke bottle' fenders hang dent-free wheel trim and arrow-straight rocker guards around familiar GM door handles. On the outsides of those fenders, red "326" emblems combine with stainless quarter trim and chrome "LeMans" scripts to lend a little bit of class to the car's performance-worthy profile. Above those emblems, tinted glass and highly polished trim prop up a correct, power-operated roof. And behind that glass, a stainless-trimmed valence hangs a second "PONTIAC" script and unassuming tail lights between a second chrome bumper and small "LeMans" emblem. Raise the car's long steel hood and the first thing you'll notice is an original, high output 326 that was rebuilt by Automotive Machine Service in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. Less obvious, of course, is the stalwart engine's correct 86339 casting number, March (C ) 9th (09), 1967 (7) casting date and 285 horsepower-exclusive "YP" build stamp. Originally found in the LeMans and Firebirds alike, this awesome Turquoise mill was Pontiac Motor Division's creative answer to GM's corporate displacement rules. A big 4-barrel carburetor transitions wind from a Satin Black, single-snorkel air cleaner to a factory intake that's bolted down over factory internals. 10.5 to 1 compression is sparked by a traditional, points-style distributor, which jolts fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Cooling is provided by a beefy GM radiator, which sends water around a correct fan via pliable hoses and old school tower clamps. Exhaust is funneled through a nice pair of fully restored manifolds. And everything, from the car's mirrored valve covers to its reproduction Delco battery, is exceptionally well done and looks fantastic! Logging few miles since their noble rebirth, this drop-top's smooth floors and straight frame - which was donated by a rust-free parts car, are completely devoid of significant issues and major defects. The stout 326 twists torque to an original, 2-speed Powerglide, which spins a correct Safe-T-Track rear end. At the sides of that rock-solid drivetrain, 2-inch, true-dual exhaust connects the aforementioned manifolds with an H-shaped crossover, throaty Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the sides of that booming soundtrack, a professionally restored suspension features a beefy sway bar, factory power steering and correct power drum brakes. At the corners of that suspension, a quartet of 14-inch steelies spins G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around full, "PMD" branded wheel discs. And, as it sits, this Pontiac has no major leaks of any kind, as new fluid lines and a fresh fuel tank retain their restoration-fresh shine. Open this convertible's freshly finished doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's sporty yet classy. Front-and-center, firm bucket and bench seats feature bright chrome trim, cool pleated covers and era-correct lap belts. The engine's vitals are displayed by a rebuilt gauge cluster, which integrates round-faced dials just to the left of a correct, reverb-equipped radio. On the floor, like-new carpet anchors Pontiac-branded floor mats below stainless-trimmed foot pedals. At the sides of the car, fresh door panels hang chrome handles and subdued metal trim around bright LeMans crests. In front of the driver, a satin-spoked steering wheel spins a black rim around a Turquoise, Pontiac-branded column cover. And behind the passengers, a spotless trunk sandwiches a correct jack and a full-size spare tire between a new mat and fresh decklid decals. Eventually, the Bonneville, an ostentatious line-topper that epitomized the division's newfound style and performance, became one of the hottest names in the automotive landscape. And when you take one look at a classic like this incredible convertible, it's not hard to understand why. The car's retractable roof optimizes glitzy Main Street jaunts. Its powerful Tempest 425 V8 is tame enough to cruise on the highway, yet strong enough to own the stoplight. And its rich black, silver and gray color combination is one of the best schemes to ever adorn old school Detroit metal. If you're in the market for a tailored classic that wraps exoteric style in limitless appeal, welcome to "The Boldest Advance in Fifty Years!" BODYWORK/TRIM Much more impressive than when it originally rolled down GM's storied Wilmington assembly line, this well-done Poncho has been transformed into a take-no-prisoners weekender that consistently headlines cruise nights. Its solid, '58-exclusive body is covered in correct and very fitting Persian Black 2-stage. There are no obvious signs of wholesale panel replacement, suggesting this has been a straight, rust-free shell its entire life. Not surprisingly, the car's clean fit and finish is almost good enough to turn reflections into reality. And ultimately, it all adds up to one super cool cruiser that, thanks to its spectacular combination of color and trim, has an absolutely magnetic presence! Speaking of trim, Pontiac's first generation Bonneville certainly did its fair share to promote the sale of sunglasses. And, as with its sculpted body, all of this drop-top's ornate jewelry has, at one point, been restored to excellent condition. At the front of the car, a deep chrome bumper seats correct Star Chief parking lamps at the base of a correct die-cast chrome grille. Above that grille, mirrored hood trim frames a canted "B O N N E V I L L E" script and intricate T3 headlights. At the sides of those lights, rocket-themed profile spears dissect polished rocker plates, guarded door handles, small wheel skirts and correct fender-mount mirrors. At the edges of those spears, classy "Bonneville" scripts and red, white and blue Tri-power emblems perfectly complement aeronautical fender toppers and Bonneville-exclusive louvers. At the top of the car, polished frames seal factory-tint glass under a pliable white top. That top flows into a massive, Silver Streak-esque decklid, which hangs a second "B O N N E V I L L E" script between simple trim, rocket-inspired taillights and a small, power operated antenna. And those taillights reflect a familiar continental kit, which is propped on a correct faux sport bumper and subtle, polished exhaust tips. ENGINE When Bunkie Knudson began Pontiac's revival, circa 1956, he started building a performance powerhouse. By the time the division's 1960 models rolled down the line, it was literally dominating NASCAR, NHRA and Pike's Peak. That stellar showing was no doubt thanks to engines like this Bonneville's retrofitted Tempest 425 V8. At the top of the spry mill, wind whips through a black, single-snorkel air cleaner in to a trio of familiar Rochester carburetors, which cap a traditional iron intake. At the sides of that intake, stamped steel valve covers split the difference between factory exhaust manifolds and 7mm Hi-Temp Radio Suppression Cables. At the ends of those cables, an old school points distributor aligns with factory wiper components and a correct master cylinder. A correct radiator utilizes pliable hoses, simple squeeze clamps and a correct shroud to provide ample cooling. A reproduction Delco battery jolts a tagged Delco-Remy generator. And overall, this Poncho's glossy engine compartment is fully sorted and ready to roll! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The beneficiary of a high quality, frame-up restoration, this clean full-size is certainly no stranger to good times and weekend road trips. The car's solid floorpans are coated in thick black paint, which, complete with factory drips, perfectly complements a sturdy Aero Frame X-frame. A proven Strato-Flight Hydra-Matic 4-speed spins a correct GM axle that literally sails the engine through its broad power band. Under that capable drivetrain, a factory-spec suspension is equipped with factory power steering. Power-assisted drum brakes provide adequate stopping prowess. At the center of the floors, a correct exhaust system utilizes correct turbo mufflers to weave an aggressive, full throttle rumble into a subdued and classy idle. And, at the corners of the suspension, great looking 8.50-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls frame stylish Pontiac wheel covers. INTERIOR In the '50s, GM was the king of design. Period. And this Bonneville's correct Gray and Silver interior is one of the most beautiful cockpits ever mounted behind a motor. Broad and fastidiously crafted, the car's rare hardback bucket seats feature standard leather hides. There's a stylish dash that's based in gray, trimmed in brushed aluminum and equipped with chrome-rimmed gauges, a deluxe radio and a correct factory clock. Note the car's spectacular door panels, which carry their combination of chrome, aluminum and two-tone vinyl to a body-matched convertible cowl. Below the seats, heavy-duty floor mats protect chrome-flecked carpet. The centerpiece of this tailored environment is an expertly restored steering wheel, which is cinched between a polished shifter, a bright horn ring and a classy Pontiac emblem. And behind the cockpit, a positively massive trunk sandwiches a second spare tire between a small light and a thick mat. I mean, after all, RKMC does attract people who bleed 100 octane racing fuel; and Pontiac, at its core, was completely dedicated to selling outrageous metal to serious gearheads. So naturally, we can't help but melt like a hot tire in a staging lane when we find a car like this investment grade Trans Am Super Duty. A concours-restored national award winner, this numbers-matching Poncho is 1 of only 212 1974 Super Duty coupes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. And if you're a Firebird enthusiast who's searching for an exclusive F2 that you can literally purchase and haul straight to the show, it's your chance to become king of the muscle car hill! BODYWORK/TRIM Sold new at Mall Pontiac in Dayton, Ohio, and claiming a mere 15,401 original miles, this restoration-fresh Trans Am is simply spectacular. With a 3-owner body that seems to have been fairly straight when the restoration began, it should come as no surprise that panel gaps are excellent and fit feels rock-solid. By the looks of that body's smooth finish, Super Duty expert Steve Schappaugh probably spent weeks blocking and sanding every one of its panel in hopes of forming a laser-straight showpiece. And once those panels' correct coat of Cameo White two-stage was decorated with standard Trans Am call-outs, he definitely accomplished that goal. Today, with unique visual sizzle that's as classy as it is aggressive, this top notch Super Duty is a highly desirable example of a major milestone in Pontiac history! 1974 was a defining year for the Firebird. Sales were brisk and new 'low speed' crash mandates required that the car either be completely redesigned or jump on the bandwagon of hideous and hastily done nose jobs that were creeping into every automaker's showroom. Instead of bowing to cost, Pontiac assembled a talented engineering staff, which managed to blend both functionality and style into the well-integrated profile you see here. At the front of that profile, a 'black bar' nose hangs a standard screamin' chicken emblem between clean headlights, clear parking lamps, familiar Pontiac grilles and a road-hugging spoiler. At the top of that nose, a screamin' chicken hood centers an "SD-455" branded shaker in front of pristine greenhouse glass that's framed in bright stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, conservative door handles and small sport mirrors reflect traditional fender vents and correct fender flares. And at the back of the car, a subtle spoiler highlights clean taillights, chrome exhaust tips and a second 'black bar' bumper. ENGINE The heart of any muscle car is its engine, and this Poncho's brawny Super Duty moniker is no misnomer. The largely hand-built SD-455, which features significantly reinforced components, shares little more than a displacement number with its more common brethren. And this car's highly detailed mill, balanced, blueprinted and completely rebuilt in June of 2015 by Ken Maisano Race Engines, complements a correct 490132 casting number with a January (A) 09th (09), 1974 (4) casting date, correct "W8" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of the big engine, traditional Trans Am induction funnels fresh wind into a big Rochester carburetor and correct Pontiac intake. That intake sends a high-octane air/fuel mixture into unique, high-flow cylinder heads that are equipped with familiar, stamped steel valve covers. And those heads utilize a roster of high performance internals to create rocket-like acceleration. That acceleration is sparked by a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gases are handled by fully restored exhaust manifolds, which roar into correct, true-dual tail pipes. And heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator, which services fresh hoses via new tower clamps and a familiar plastic shroud. Aesthetically, this Trans Am's first class engine bay is 100% ready for show. The mighty mill displays a slick coat of correct Pontiac Turquoise all the way from its intake to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth layer of GM Satin Black. And niceties such as new decals, new stamps, a Delco battery and a fresh Delco Moraine brake booster can be found in all the right places. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this slick, second generation Firebird, solid floorpans reflect years of easy living. Behind the mega mill, a correct Borg Warner T10 4-speed hangs a familiar 1304065903 casting number below a correct partial VIN. That transmission, fully rebuilt in April of 2015 by Westminster, California's Westminster Transmission, sends power to a sturdy 10-bolt rear end. Below that stellar drivetrain, a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes correct power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes. And at the center of the car, a Gardner true-dual exhaust system barks out a deep, vintage roar. All this road ready hardware rolls on an attractive set of Pontiac Rally IIs, which spin GR70x15 Goodyear Steegard Radials. And everything under this killer classic is restored, clean and ready to roll. INTERIOR When it comes to interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. While this coupe's insignia may be considered overkill, and its horsepower rating might seem relatively modest compared to earlier muscle cars, there's no disputing the beauty of its design. The rebuilt custom bucket seats are supple, firm, and look every bit as nice and rich as their name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats. And between those seats, a molded console props an enclosed storage bin behind a chrome Hurst shifter and correct Delco radio. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly between fresh shoulder belts. At the sides of the car, hard to find door panels hang pristine chrome handles between chrome window cranks and full armrests. In front of the driver, a fixed steering column spins a black Formula wheel around an engine-turned instrument panel. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hangs a fresh decklid decal above a full-size spare tire. HISTORICAL INFORMATION Here's a detailed look at this hot coupe's VIN and cowl tag. Not surprisingly, demand for these cornerstone classics continues to be strong, and in the first half of 2015 we shipped five awesome GTOs to five very satisfied owners. The beneficiary of a recent rotisserie restoration, this documented, national award-winning hardtop is likely one of the nicest Pontiacs we've ever featured. With a numbers-matching drivetrain, solid, mostly original sheetmetal and a correct triple black color combination, it's the perfect turnkey muscle car for anyone who enjoys cruising fast, wide and loud. And if you're looking for an impressive classic that'll roll straight out of the showroom and right on to the show field, it's your chance to grab a tiger by the tail! BODYWORK/TRIM Fresh out of a no-holds-barred reboot that wrapped up in May of 2014, this super cool A-Body is a perfect blend of good craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Originally sold in Westfield, Massachusetts, the car was discovered by its current owner, a '64 GTO purist, in Waycross, Georgia. After roughly 25 years of enjoyment, that owner initiated a 2-year, rotisserie restoration that fitted the coupe with a fresh pair of quarters and meticulously straightened its profile to better-than-new condition. Once that comprehensive metalwork transitioned from the garage bay to the paint booth, classic '60s panels were re-sprayed in correct Starlight Black PPG. When that paint dried, a correct vinyl roof capped a hearty layer of clear, which had been buffed to a clean, flat shine. And today, officially unleashed as the epitome of old school American style, this goat is one seriously cool head turner that grabs trophies just as easily as it drops jaws. ENGINE Pop the car's sculpted hood and the first thing you'll notice is a 389 cubic inch Trophy V8 that's been completely rebuilt and wrapped in attractive Turquoise skin. Less obvious, of course, is that stalwart mill's correct 9773155 casting number, April (D) 2nd (2), 1964 (4) casting date and 348 horsepower, manual transmission-exclusive "76X" assembly stamp. At the top of the block, a correct Rochester Tri-power setup bridges the gap between polished air cleaners, bright stainless fluid lines and a correct, cast iron intake. That intake rides between correct heads, which hang hardened valve seats and attractive valve covers over a flat-tappet cam and GM NOS pistons. A familiar points distributor jolts spark through pliable plug wires. Cooling is provided by a heavy duty Harrison radiator, which sends water around a correct fan via GM-branded hoses and traditional tower clamps. Charge comes courtesy of a rebuilt GM alternator and reproduction Delco battery. Charred dinosaurs float through a nice pair of restored exhaust manifolds. And aesthetically, the impressive engine is fully detailed, from its correct tags and vivid decals all the way to its yellow carb spring and appropriate grease marks. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Logging few miles since their thorough restoration, this goat's carefully repaired floors and super clean frame are completely free of significant issues and major defects. The stout 389 sends power to a stalwart Muncie transmission, which hangs a correct 3851325 casting number in front of a Muncie (P) assembled on February (02) 26th (26), 1964 build stamp. That proven gearbox spins a tough GM 10-bolt, which twists a posi-trac differential around big, 3.90 gears. At the sides of that rock-solid drivetrain, aluminized, true-dual exhaust pipes connect the aforementioned manifolds with tough turbo mufflers. At the sides of that booming soundtrack, a rebuilt and tagged suspension is complete with factory power steering and power drum brakes. Muscle meets the pavement through 14-inch steelies, which spin 205/75 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redlines around deluxe wheel covers. And absolutely everything, from this Poncho's fresh stainless fuel tank to its clean Turquoise oil pan, is fully sorted and ready to be scored! INTERIOR Open this coupe's doors and you'll find a correct GM code 214 Black interior that's simple yet sporty. Front and center, firm bucket and bench seats wrap bright chrome trim around cool, pleated hides. The engine's vitals are displayed by a rebuilt gauge cluster, which integrates an optional tachometer into a correctly padded dash that's complete with engine-turned trim and a correct Delco radio. On the floors, like-new carpet anchors a simple shifter and stylish, chrome-trimmed console between thick, Pontiac-themed floor mats and classy, Fisher-themed sills. At the sides of the car, fresh door panels hang new chrome handles under straight stainless trim and monochromatic Pontiac insignias. In front of the driver, a Custom Sport Steering Wheel spins a faux wood rim around a red, Pontiac-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk sandwiches a correct jack and full-size spare tire between a standard mat and requisite decklid decal. I mean, after all, RKMC does attract people who bleed 100 octane racing fuel; and Pontiac, at its core, was completely dedicated to selling outrageous metal to serious gearheads. So naturally, we can't help but melt like a hot tire in a staging lane when we find a vintage Indian like this investment grade Trans Am. Completely detailed, and highly accurate throughout, this pristine big block Poncho features factory air conditioning, a stack of historic documentation, and features the original numbers matching drivetrain. But, before we get to far lets first decode the VIN:228871N******2: Pontiac 28: Firebird Trans Am 87: 2-door hardtop 1: 1971 N: Norwood, Ohio XXXXXX: six digit production sequence Because their production was so low to begin with, early second generation Trans Ams are becoming increasingly hard to purchase. And when you throw in the fact that, for years, first generation cars got all the glory in the eyes of restorers, it just complicates the search even more. Only 2,116 Trans Ams left the factory in 1971, and only 1,231 were equipped with an automatic transmission like this immaculate '71. RK Motors Charlotte is happy to feature this killer 1971 Trans Am which combines a striking blue on white color combination with the original YE 455 cubic inch V8 and the original 3-speed automatic transmission. Not only does this stunning Poncho have the power to back up its outstanding looks, it's also fresh out of a professional, frame-off restoration that's so spotless you'd think it's never been driven. It starts with the body that is covered in a fresh coat of Cameo white with blue accent pieces on the hood top and trunk. The overall look combined with the powerful 455 under the hood makes for a very intimidating ride. BODYWORK/TRIM The 70's were a defining decade for the Firebird. Sales were slow and new 'low speed' crash mandates required that the car either be completely redesigned or jump on the bandwagon of hideous and hastily done nose jobs that were creeping into every automakers showroom. GM refused to spend the money on redesigning the car because of its low sales; and fortunately, Pontiac had a talented engineering staff which managed to blend both functionality and style into the car you see here. Up front, a straight and glossy Endura bumper hangs a familiar 2-piece Pontiac grille between clear headlights and chrome trimmed parking lights. At the top of the car, a blue screaming chicken logo leads to a great looking "455 HO" branded shaker that sits in front of pristine, Soft Ray glass that's bordered by well-maintained stainless trim. At the sides of the car, body-matched sport mirrors hang between traditional Pontiac fender vents, chrome door handles and correct white fender flares. And at the back of the car, an optional decklid spoiler hangs the words Trans Am above a centered "PONTIAC" script, a pair of pristine exhaust tips, the last set of 'small' tail lights to ever adorn a Trans Am rear valence, and a chrome bumper. ENGINE The heart of any brawny muscle car is its engine, and this Firebird's 455 is enough to grab the attention of any one that walks by or hears it fire up. These largely hand-built monsters, which featured significantly reinforced components, were arguably some of the last high horsepower monsters created in the muscle car era. Lift the hood, and you'll see the original numbers matching 455 ci V8 that wears a correct YE stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of that big engine, a traditional Trans Am underhood induction system feeds fresh air to a correct 4-barrel carburetor that's bolted to the Pontiac intake. The powerful engine was completely rebuilt in 2006 by Automotive Machine in Fraser, MI. During the extensive build the block was overhauled, new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, lifters, oil pump, and timing set was installed. Aesthetically, this Trans Am's first class engine bay is 100% ready for show. The block itself displays a slick coat of correct blue paint all the way from its intake to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a combination of smooth GM satin black paint. And niceties such as a newly freshened air conditioning system, a new brake booster, and a full set of correct decals are found in all the right places. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this slick second generation Firebird, solid floorpans reflect years of sunny southwest living and a fully sorted suspension tells the story of excellent maintenance and very little storage time. Behind the monster motor is the original, virtually indestructible, GM Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission, that sends power to a familiar 10 bolt rear end that does a great job on both the back roads and the interstate. Below that stellar powertrain a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. And at the center of the car, a true dual exhaust system utilizes an X-pipe crossover and welded aftermarket mufflers to bark out a deep, vintage roar. All this road ready hardware rolls on a restored set of Pontiac factory styled steel wheels without trim rings, which spin proven F60-15 Goodyear Polyglass rubber. Everything under this classic appears to be restored, tagged and painted just as it would've left the factory. INTERIOR In terms of interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. While this car's horsepower rating might seem relatively modest compared to earlier muscle cars, there's no disputing the beauty of its design. The rebuilt vinyl bucket seats are supple, firm, and look every bit as nice and rich as their name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet, which is carefully protected by thick firebird branded rubber mats, displays no fading or unraveling; and between those seats, a molded black console props an enclosed storage bin behind the 3-speed automatic controls. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner is stretched tight from the front window to the back window. At the sides of the car, hard to find door panels hang pristine chrome handles between chrome window cranks and full armrests. In front of the driver, an optional tilt steering column spins a black Formula steering wheel around an engine turned instrument panel, sliders for the car's climate system and a AM/FM radio. And behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk hangs a fresh decklid decal above a full-size spare tire and a correct jack assembly. The sale of this pristine pony car includes the PHS documents, restoration receipts and assorted product manuals. If your definition of classic Detroit muscle is a highly accurate, beautifully presented, meticulously crafted Pontiac, it's your lucky day! This 455 is fast, rare, impressive, and there probably aren't many cars built in 1971 that are more desirable. So, what are you waiting for? It was the car that everyone talked about, everyone wanted and everyone drooled over. Just imagine jumping in Bandit's Trans Am, putting the pedal to the floor, tearing across the open road and out driving virtually anyone who tries to stop you! The generation that loves these 'birds has been moving into the collector car hobby over the last five years and will continue to do so for the next twenty. As a result, second generation Trans Ams have been steadily gaining value since 2007. It's a documented, numbers matching real deal Y82 that's equipped with Pontiac's highly desirable W72 400 engine, a 4-speed manual transmission and, best of all, it's a one-owner, 11,500 mile car! If you're looking for the ultimate, collectible Trans Am this is the one to have! BODYWORK/TRIM Cared for by one, meticulous, female-owner, This '77 Trans Am features 100% original sheet-metal that has seen only a professional repaint and restriping by the Trans Am Museum during it's pampered life. Being completed just last month, that correct, code 19 Black paint has been dressed with new, Special Edition striping, including the iconic bird that graces the hood. With virgin body panels wearing new paint and new decals, this Trans Am looks like it just rolled of the Norwood assembly line where it originally started life. And all of the authentic, Y82 touches are present such as gold headlight surrounds, gold bird decals on the sail panel, Germanic style "Trans Am" lettering, gold wheels, and the quintessential gold with matte gold hood decal, accented with the outlining stripes around the car. And those Hurst t-tops feature original weather stripping that still appear fresh and in better condition than what many late-model cars have to offer. ENGINE Lift the hood and you'll find this Pontiac's all-original 6.6 liter W72 V8 which wears a correct casting number, a correct partial VIN and a correct W72-exclusive "WA" engine stamp. All the hard parts around the motor, from the belt driven accessories to the brake booster and optional air conditioning hanging on the firewall are mostly original and, of course, factory correct. The gold anodized brake booster still shows the factory-marked green stamp. The hoses are even believed to be the ones installed from the factory. And as expected tags, markings and stamps are just where they should be from the date coded core support that proudly displays the original emissions tag to the car's clean cowl tag. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this car, original, red oxide floor-pans tell the story of years of excellent maintenance. Behind the motor, a VIN stamped, assembly-line installed original Borg Warner T10 4-speed transmission sends power to an original 10 bolt rear end that wears its original markings. Trans Am suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs combines with standard issue power front disc brakes and original rear drums to provide quick stops and great handling. Even the leaf springs wear their original tags. Pontiac snow flake wheels spin Special Edition exclusive gold paint around 'red bird' center caps and Uniroyal GR 70-15 tires. INTERIOR Open the doors and you'll find a black, vinyl interior that wraps Special Edition-exclusive gold trim in a whole lot of old school style! Besides the headliner, nearly everything remains in original condition, including the gold dash bezel and 3-spoke steering wheel, a further testament to just how well this car has been cared for. Out back, the trunk retains the original mat and jack assembly. Given the incredibly good condition of this Trans Am, the doors and trunk lid shut with a solid thud, expressing the quality that is often found on German automobiles. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONOriginal Ownership information; Loan Information (1977), Application, Original InsuranceTuff Kote Rustproofing receiptsService records from 1980'sPHS documentation With a value curve that is on the rise and highly desirable options, this '77 Trans Am is an incredible specimen that will fit in any collection. Gas was cheap, technology made high performance offerings insanely easy to work on and about the only thing that mattered was getting to the next stoplight faster than the guy beside you. From spry Japanese sports cars to insane creations like the Plymouth Prowler and Dodge Viper, it truly was one of the best times to be an automotive enthusiast. And, fortunately, low-mileage muscle like this sweet 25th Anniversary Trans Am allows a few lucky car guys to relish those days just a little bit longer. Immaculately maintained and rarely driven, this Poncho, 1 of only 338 25th Anniversary hardtops produced, wraps GM's proven LT1/4-speed drivetrain in a super cool color combination that's a blatant nod to muscle cars of yore. And, if you're longing for a modern performer that still possesses the appeal of showroom-fresh metal, this is just the bargain you've been waiting for! BODYWORK/TRIM Displaying official aesthetics for the 338 Trans Am Anniversary hardtops that would end up in the hands of enthusiasts, this clean coupe is a virtually spotless garage queen that's seen very little pavement time. 100% straight, with no history of catastrophic damage, the car's fuselage is an even wedge of all-original paint. High quality 25th Anniversary-exclusive call-outs, courtesy of GM's St. Therese, Quebec assembly plant, still shine with the best cars on the road. And overall, this Pontiac conveys a premium sense of collectability that, when combined with its spectacular performance, creates a timeless modern classic. ENGINE If you find a ride that's branded with Screamin' Chicken badges, chances are good that something mean lives under its hood. This top-of-the-line F4 validates that chance variable with a venerable 5.7L LT1 V8. Not to be confused with the high-performance LT-1 of the '70s, this version was introduced in 1992 as primary motivation for the C4 Corvette. By 1994, the basic formula of a 2-bolt main block with aluminum heads remained, but the motor had been revised to employ a Mass Airflow Sensor and Sequential Port Fuel Injection. And power was up to 275 horses, which translated to low 14-second quarter mile passes right off the assembly line. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Peer under this coupe and you'll find a clean chassis that's been preserved via limited road use. Behind the LT1, a requisite 4L60E 4-speed twists torque through highway-friendly, 2.73 gears. Around that drivetrain, a stock suspension follows a double A-arm front half with a 3-link rear end. Power rack-and-pinion steering makes turning a breeze while power-assisted discs bring the car to a quick halt. And everything rolls on body-matched, Trans Am-branded wheels, which spin what appear to be original 245/50ZR16 Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs. INTERIOR Inside the car, an upscale Trans Am GT interior is built around bright bucket seats that adjust electronically for the driver and front passenger. A leather-clad steering wheel sports convenient thumb controls for a crisp Delco sound system. The instrument panel is a familiar red Pontiac layout that features a large tachometer and sweeping speedometer. At the floor, a conservative shifter rides in a straight and clean console. Naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a modern car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and remote keyless entry that's complete with GM's PASSkey theft deterrent system. And everything, from the car's optional cruise control all the way to its factory air conditioning, is in impeccable working order. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESMiscellaneous factory paperworkThe car's original Owner's Manual and related bookletsA Trans Am 25th Anniversary Owner's Manual jacket and related accessoriesThe car's original sales invoiceA copy of the car's original titleVintage registrationsA set of Daytona Pace Car door decalsTwo sets of keys and corresponding fobsA factory wheel lock socketTag brackets from the car's original dealer Looking back on the long history of Pontiac, there's little doubt that this Trans Am is one of the fastest, best-handling and most enjoyable Ponchos of all time. It exhibits the best of everything from GM's fourth generation pony car. And it's the perfect fit for a serious Trans Am collector or anyone who loves showroom-fresh muscle. Buy this coupe and stash it away for a few decades, or take it out and enjoy every minute of one of the best eras of automotive performance! If you grew up in the mid to late '70s, very little of the metal offered by the big three had any appeal, except for the Trans Am. You either had one, your buddy had one, your uncle had one or you wanted one. And now, the generation that loves these cars is starting to move in to the collector car hobby in full force. That means TODAY is the day to grab a correct, low mileage F2 to show and enjoy. And this fully documented Gold Special Edition, a 15,628-mile head turner that was formerly a part of the Milt Robson collection, combines enduring Pontiac performance with all-American style! BODYWORK/TRIM Assembled at GM-Norwood, this halcyon Trans Am was sold through Wallace Motor Company of Salisbury, North Carolina. It's glossy Solar Gold glow is the product of a recent cosmetic restoration that was anchored to all-original sheetmetal. Correct Gold Special Edition full outlining stripes trace a Gold Special Edition hood decal to complete the car's transformation from regular 'bird to full-tilt 'Screamin' chicken'. And today, this coupe looks just as good as you'd expect any show worthy F-body to look, featuring classic lines and sizzling aesthetics that are some of the most iconic automotive brandings in history! ENGINE Under this coupe's long hood you'll find an original Pontiac V8 that wears a correct "WC" assembly stamp opposite a matching partial VIN and correct 481988XX casting number. Thanks to government mandated emissions standards, performance had almost been legislated out of existence; and that left the Trans Am suffering a bit of an identity crisis. This bird's W72, punching in at an even 400 cubic inches, combined the largest muscle car engine you could buy with Pontiac's proven 6X heads to produce higher compression and provide enough low end grunt to create one of the fastest pony cars on the market. At the top of the mill, a big 4-barrel carburetor rides under a familiar shaker scoop. Below that carb, GM Corporate Blue coats the entire block, excepting cast iron exhaust manifolds and flash-chromed valve covers. The car's clean engine bay and hood are covered in a nice coat of GM Satin Black. And all the hard parts around the motor, from the vintage brake booster to the Delco Air climate control, appear to be factory-spec. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this solid gold F-body, a clean undercarriage tells a long story of excellent maintenance and carefully chosen road time. The car's original floorpans seat vintage Solar pigment over a straight, Satin Black frame. Behind the motor, an original Borg Warner 4-speed, which hangs a matching partial VIN over a May 24th, 1978 build plate, sends power to a correct 10-bolt rear end. At the ends of the car, a rebuilt WS6 suspension, which includes power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. At the corners of the car, power meets the pavement via familiar Pontiac 'snowflakes', which spin 225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around correct gold paint and 'gold bird' center caps. And there's a fresh true-dual exhaust system that employs an H-shaped crossover, throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished side-splitter tips. INTERIOR Open the car's massive doors and you'll find an NOS Camel Tan interior that's centered in virtual miles of Special Edition trim. Original seats are comfortably firm and, carrying correct velour hides, look like they should be in a much more modern, much more expensive offering. In front of those seats, an engine turned instrument panel hangs crystal clear Rally Gauges above factory climate control and an optional Delco-GM stereo. Beneath that dash, a Camel Tan console anchors a large storage bin behind a chrome Hurst shifter. Below that console, tan carpet, which has been carefully protected by Trans Am-branded floor mats, displays no serious fading or unraveling. At the sides of that carpet, Camel Tan door panels feature pristine stainless trim and bright chrome handles. In front of the driver, a gold Formula steering wheel spins around a correct fixed column. And behind the cockpit, a clean trunk centers a Space Saver spare tire under original decklid decals and a functional courtesy lamp. Well, this time around, we'll spare you the nostalgia trip and get straight to the facts. Simply put: these cars are awesome to drive, look at and be seen in. Their value and desirability continues to rise every year. And if you've ever dreamed of owning one, today is a much better time to buy than tomorrow will be. This particular example is a well optioned '79 model that pairs a 6.6 litre V8 and 3-speed automatic gearbox with factory air conditioning and all the outrageous Pontiac swagger you could ever ask for. Freshly restored in 2014, the car is showroom fresh, offering an authentic driving experience through a roster of correct components. And, if you're ready to cruise the boulevard in one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever assembled, it's your opportunity to seize the day! BODYWORK/TRIM After leaving GM's Van Nuys assembly line in the summer of 1979, this Poncho was trailered to Dale Sharp Pontiac in Topeka, Kansas. Thanks to a lifetime of calculated use and meticulous care, the car became an excellent starting point for a professional, ground-up restoration. Correct Solar Gold 2-stage was applied under tough "TRANS AM" call-outs and brilliant Screamin' Chicken decals. And details like black headlight buckets, correct black reveal moldings, correct black tail lamps and familiar wheel spoilers round out classic, pavement-pounding aesthetics. ENGINE Naturally, 6.6 litres of GM power back up the car's angry demeanor. Correctly restored and ready to roll, this coupe, like the vast majority of factory-accurate 1979 Trans Ams, is equipped with a 403 cubic inch V8. And, it's pretty easy to identify that Oldsmobile-sourced block since "403" is cast right in to the passenger's side of its iron casing. A big 4-barrel carburetor feeds 4A heads that are equipped with 83cc combustion chambers. Delco Air conditioning is always a welcome addition. Decals and brandings are as fresh as when the car rolled off the assembly line. Everything is neatly wrapped in a striking combination of Satin Black and GM Corporate Blue paint. And, while horsepower numbers aren't exactly off the charts, 320 lb./ft. of torque is more than enough oomph to make this 'bird fly! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under the floors, a clean chassis visually confirms the car's just finished restoration while hosting a mile-long list of correct components. The 403 V8 entertained only one option for shifting: GM's trusty Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed. That gearbox sends power to a correct GM 10-bolt, which is equipped with a posi-traction differential and highway-friendly gears. Around that rock-solid powertrain, a full F41 suspension, which includes mandatory power steering and thick sway bars, combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. A single-into-dual exhaust system has been upgraded with a Magnaflow converter, Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers and polished side-splitter tips. And, at the corners of the car, requisite 'snowflake' wheels spin 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around correct gold paint and familiar 'gold bird' center caps. INTERIOR Behind this Pontiac's massive doors, you'll find a correct Camel Tan interior that's centered in miles of cool trim. Rebuilt seats are comfortably firm, framing a simple, Camel Tan console and chrome GM shifter. In front of those seats, an engine turned instrument panel hangs crystal clear gauges above factory climate control and a reconditioned Delco-GM stereo. Tan carpet, protected by thick floor mats, looks just as good as the car's plush door panels and tight headliner. In front of the driver, a standard Formula steering wheel spins around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fresh trunk anchors a Space Saver spare tire under a fresh decklid decal. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONAn original build sheetA packet of Pontiac Historic Services paperwork With its awesome drivetrain, ornate interior and vivid Solar Gold paint, this Trans Am simply can't be beat in the realm of late '70s muscle cars. Burt Reynolds made a black one famous as the Bandit, and they were widely regarded as the last true muscle car on the planet. As you can probably tell from our extensive list of sold inventory, these cars are back and more popular than ever. And the upswing in value and collectability for pristine, well-documented examples shows no signs of slowing. Astute buyers are seizing the opportunity to sign papers on their childhood dream cars before prices really begin to rise. And this Special Edition 'bird, with its long list of options and numbers-matching W72/4-speed powertrain, is the perfect investment for a savvy buyer who wants to stash back one of the hottest prospects on the market! According to the build sheets included with Poncho's sale, it was assembled on December 19th, 1978 in Van Nuys, California with the following optional equipment.AU3: Power door locksA01: Tinted glassA31: Power windowsA51: Bucket seatsA90: Power trunk releaseBS1: Insulator packB22: Door pad emblemsB89: Black backlite moldingB97: Front and rear wheel spoilersCD4: Pulse wipersC49: Rear window defoggerC60: Air conditioningD34: Visor mirrorD35: Sport mirrorsD53: Hood decalD55: ConsoleD80: Rear spoilerF41: Rear stabilizer barGU5: 3.23 gearsG80: Posi-traction axleJ65: 4-wheel disc brakesK15: Fuel vapor return linesK81: 63 amp generatorL78: 400 cubic inch V8 that's fitted with a 4-barrel carburetorM21: 4-speed transmissionNA5: Standard emissionsNK3: Formula steering wheelN33: Tilt steering columnN65: Space Saver spare tireN90: Gold cast aluminum wheelsQGR: 225/70R15 white letter tiresTR9: Lamp GroupT93: Black tail lampsUN9: Radio Accommodation PackageUP8: Rear speakersU05: Dual hornsU17: Instrument panel gaugesU25: Luggage compartment lampU27: Glove box lampU28: Ash tray lampU29: Courtesy lampU35: Electric clockU58: AM/FM stereoU75: Power antennaU80 Dual rear speakersVK3: Front tag bracketWS4: Trans AmWS6: Special Performance PackageWV6: Gold graphicsW72: Performance PackageY84: Black Special Edition19I: Black trim19X: Black Interior19L: Black exterior paintXXX: Customer order Partially restored by McLaughlin Trans Am Museum in early 2014, this highly optioned classic is a 21K-mile garage queen that currently features better-than-new aesthetics. Exceptionally maintained throughout its entire existence, the car wears 100% original sheetmetal that's as solid and straight as the day it left the showroom. Because those factory panels have never received any major repairs, they still display correct fit and finish that's surprisingly precise. And that alignment squares under correct Starlight Black two-stage and bold Screaming Chicken call-outs that create some of the most recognized muscle car war paint of all time. Decidedly loud and unabashedly proud, this sinister F2 combines traditional Pontiac attitude with purposely flamboyant detailing. At the front of the car, slick and pliable urethane hangs pristine headlights above large air intakes which, while still being instantly identifiable as Pontiac's familiar split-grille face, give the car an increasingly aggressive appearance. Behind that face, a traditional shaker hood, proudly branded with W72-exclusive "T/A 6.6" decals, founds spotless Soft Ray glass in correct black frames. At the sides of that shaker, chrome door handles and familiar fender vents ride between striped sport mirrors and correct wheel spoilers. And at the back of the car, a requisite trunk wing leads the eye to black-trimmed tail lamps and exclusive side-splitter exhaust tips. Pop this coupe's colorful hood and you'll find an original, 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that, like all '79 W72s, is actually a leftover from 1977. Utilizing a better casting, chrome-moly rings, a revised cam, a better oil pump and smaller '6X' heads from Pontiac's own 350, the W72 increased compression and successfully reversed almost a decade of declining horsepower numbers. Not only does this particular 6.6 carry a correct partial VIN and '79 W72/4-speed-exclusive "PWH" assembly stamp, it's also branded with a XX481988 casting number and September 22nd, 1977 casting date. At the top of the mill, a correct Quadrajet 4-barrel funnels wind and fuel in to a GM Corporate Blue block that's fitted with satin valve covers and original, cast iron exhaust manifolds. At the back of that block, a high performance distributor shoots power through thick Packard Delcore Electronic Suppression cables. All the hard parts around the motor, from Delco Air climate components to decals and signature Satin Black fenders, appear to be factory fresh. And items like stainless fuel lines, pliable hoses and correct tower clamps ensure that reliability matches appeal. Behind that engine, a straight and clean undercarriage tells the story of 35 years of excellent caretaking. A W72-exclusive Borg Warner T10 4-speed, which wears a matching partial VIN and October 6th, 1978 build date, sends power to a GM 10-bolt rear end. As you can see from the build sheet, this awesome Trans Am is equipped with Pontiac's legendary WS6 Special Performance Suspension; including larger sway bars, better shocks and springs, a tighter steering box and new-for-1979 power disc brakes. In the middle of the car, a single-pipe exhaust system barks through brash turbo mufflers. At the corners of the car, correct 'snowflake' wheels spin 225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around pristine 'gold bird' center caps. And all this Pontiac's hardware and bushings appear clean, lucid and ready to tear up the road! Swing this 'bird's infamously long doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that displays hardly any signs of wear. The firm bucket seats are standard pieces that feature heavy duty vinyl covers. Between those seats, a clean console centers chrome power window switches behind a chrome Hurst shifter. Below that console, weather-free carpet is protected by heavy duty floor mats. Opposite that carpet, a stain-free headliner flows toward optional rear speakers. In front of the driver, an engine turned dash hangs crystal clear gauges and a correct AM/FM stereo behind a tilting Formula wheel. At the sides of the passengers, Trans Am-branded door panels feature chrome power door lock switches. And behind the cockpit, a restored trunk sandwiches a correct Space Saver spare tire between correct decals and a carpeted mat. Like all of our investment grade offerings, this Poncho features extensive provenance. Here's a short list of everything that's included with the car's sale:Two original build sheetsAn original Owner's ManualOriginal factory supplementsA 1981 photo of the carMiscellaneous paperwork and maintenance receiptsPontiac Historic Services documentation High quality second generation Trans Ams are red-hot, with the value of clean, factory-correct cars climbing steadily each year. Enthusiasts are increasingly turning to these classics to either round out their collections or simply relive the sweet memories of childhood. But not many of those vintage machines can claim both exclusivity and star status. Sold by a north Hollywood Pontiac dealer, and used both on and off the set of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, this 52,280 actual mile Chieftain is a national award winner that's split most of its time between the screen, the radio and the museum floor. Benefiting from new paint, a reupholstered seat and freshened chrome, it's a mostly-original survivor that's still humbled by vintage camera mounts installed during its sitcom debut. And, accompanied by a roster of old school literature, the car's history is delightful and well documented. If you like cool classics that tell a good story, this incredible Poncho is your next cruiser! HISTORY/CONDITION Serving double duty as Ozzie and Harriet Nelson's on and off screen transportation, this Pontiac tells a storied history of low mileage, TV appearances, museum appearances and, eventually, a Cincinnati radio appearance. It's 50K mile journey started around the set of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" where the car, in addition to being rigged for camera work, often served as a prop that began Ozzie's scenes. When the Nelsons moved on to newer metal, the wagon sold to Don Bruker's Cars of the Stars museum. And, when the Car's to the Stars museum went out of business, it found residence with California collector Ray Ostrander. Since the Chieftain had been in museum mode for quite some time, Ostrander decided to conduct a minor restoration that included freshened chrome, some new upholstery and a wholesale swap of original Glendale Green and Nimbus Gray pigment for a pleasing combination of pearlescent Glendale and bright white. With that work complete, the Pontiac landed two more TV roles, appearing in HBO's "A Private Matter" and MTV's interview with actor Aidan Quinn. And, in 1993, its short and sweet radio career began when Cincinnati's 103.5 WGBH bought it as a giveaway prize. As part of WGBH's promotion, the car was towed all over Cincinnati to glean listeners' personal information. One of those listeners, Don Furnish, was a bonafide Pontiac enthusiast who was planning to offer the car's winner substantial money to pass him the privilege of ownership. When the time came to draw names, that winner was given 10 minutes and 35 seconds to call and claim their new wheels. And, after that winner's time ran out, Don's dreams turned to good fortune, as WGBH DJ Chris O'Brien announced his name as the second winner. After a prompt call to the radio station, Don spent the next several years enjoying his unrestored, mostly original classic at summer cruise-ins and weekend car shows. And, in 2014, the car claimed First Place in the '49-'57 Restored Cars class and the Dallas Autorama in Dallas, Texas. ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN Raise this Chieftain's domed hood and the first thing you'll notice is an original Strato Streak 316 that, according to the car's previous owners, has never been removed or rebuilt. Less obvious, of course, is that stalwart engine's correct 521560 casting number. Tested for over 1 million miles, and found throughout the 1956 Pontiac line-up, this mean, green mill was Pontiac Motor Division's creative answer to Chevrolet's red-hot 265. Behind that block, an original 4-speed Hydramatic transmission, which wears a correct "D56" prefix stamp, transfers power to a factory-spec rear end. In front of that drivetrain, correct control arms employ optional power steering and fresh shocks. Optional power drum brakes are a welcome addition and big performance upgrade. There's a traditional, true-dual exhaust system that appears to have been patched with new turbo mufflers. And everything rides on painted steel wheels, which spin fresh 225/75R15 Coker Classic whitewalls around full stainless hubcaps. INTERIOR Climb inside this awesome Poncho and you'll find a mostly original interior that features dramatic style and enough great looking trim to payroll a small upholstery shop. Covered in vivid hides, the car's big bench seats, equipped with optional power adjustment up front, feature a nice combination of fresh front and original rear vinyl. At the sides of those seats, original door panels look great hovering behind small armrests and correct chrome handles. At the front of those panels, an original dash hangs original telemetry above optional air conditioning. In front of the driver, an original, ornate steering wheel spins around an optional, foot-operated windshield washing system. And behind the passengers, a matted cargo area frames ample storage space in original stainless skid strips. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1969 Pontiac GTO Frame Off Restored Numbers Matching Triple White GTO 400 V8 TH400 PS PB A/C Year: 1969 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 82172 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 400 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle Info In the golden age of American muscle the Pontiac GTO was king. And today, when you're looking to grab a piece of Detroit's finest iron without closing out your retirement, a numbers-matching GTO is one of the smartest purchases on the market. There's no reason a blue chip classic should cost more than the mortgage on your house. And there's ABSOLUTELY no reason spending your hard earned money should result in a 'rope and red carpet' trailer queen. After all, being a part of GM's rambunctious Pontiac family was never about striking pretty parking lot poses. This fully sorted coupe, equipped with its original, 400 cubic inch V8, original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed and correct Cameo on Parchment color combination, is the kind of car you can enjoy WHILE it appreciates. If you're the kind of gearhead who likes to put their hardware on the field and the street, you're looking at your next classic! To authenticate this Pontiac's status as a real-deal GTO, I'll go ahead and break down both its VIN and cowl tag. VIN: 242379A1XXXXX2 Pontiac Motor Division42 GTO37 2-door hardtop9 1969 model yearA Assembled in Atlanta, Georgia1 Equipped with a V8XXXXX Production sequence number COWL TAG:69 1969 model year2 - 2: Pontiac Motor Division42 - GTO37 - 2-door hardtopATL Assembled at GM's Atlanta, Georgia manufacturing facility508001 Fisher Body production sequence number257 Parchment interior50 Cameo White paintE White Cordova roof11A Assembled during the first week of November 1968 According to this goat's Pontiac Historic Services documentation, it was produced at GM's Atlanta assembly plant and trucked right down the road to Atlanta's own Boomershine Pontiac. Recently, a high quality, professional restoration transformed the car into a straight, road-ready classic that looks great from any angle. And presently, all its moving parts function as well as the day they left the showroom. On top of those parts, correct Cameo White basecoat fuels a subdued and classy demeanor. And a mirror-like clearcoat defines sculpted, muscular lines with excellent, unbroken reflections. By the late '60s, Pontiac had pretty much perfected its revolutionary performance car both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of this coupe, a highly renowned Endura bumper hangs stainless-trimmed grilles and a pristine "G T O" emblem between hidden headlights, a stainless-trimmed valance and clear, stainless-trimmed parking lamps. Behind that bumper, a Ram Air bonnet props small scoops in front of like-new glass, correct, color-keyed vinyl and excellent stainless frames. At the sides of that bonnet, a stainless-trimmed profile hangs classy door handles and a factory-correct mirror between monochromatic fender emblems and small GTO marker lamps. And at the back of that profile, a thick bumper centers simple taillights between a black "G T O" badge and beveled Pypes exhaust tips. Pop this awesome A-Body's hood and you'll find an original, 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that's branded with a familiar 9790071 casting number, a correct "YS" assembly stamp and a matching partial VIN. Turning stout 10.75 to 1 compression into an even 350 horsepower, this tanked and rebuilt powerhouse utilizes original, open chamber heads, hardened valve seats, a hydraulic cam and a polished crank to provide the legendary Pontiac performance we all know and love. At the top of the storied mill, a chrome-capped, dual-snorkel air cleaner funnels wind into a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Behind that carburetor, a traditional points distributor shoots fire though reliable Delphi Packard plug wires. Below those wires, restored, cast iron exhaust manifolds roar into large, true-dual pipes. And in front of those pipes, a beefy radiator hangs a correct fan shroud between pliable hoses, reproduction tower clamps and a standard issue pulley fan. The hot Pontiac block displays slick Turquoise pigment from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's Satin Black engine bay is covered in fresh tags, clean decals and correct inspection marks. And niceties such as chrome valve covers, a correct Frigidaire AC compressor and a new Delco battery topper occupy all the right places. Park this Poncho on a lift and you'll really begin to appreciate the amount of time spent on its body-off restoration. Clean, Satin Black floors, which appear to be original, ride above a straight frame that's held together with new stainless hardware. Traveling up and down those floors is fresh stainless fluid lines that run to either a bright fuel tank or heavy duty brakes. In the middle of the chassis, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed hangs a correct "PX" assembly stamp opposite a matching partial VIN. The car's familiar double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension, which features a correct GTO sway bar and variable-ratio power steering, has been completely restored and freshly marked. Aluminized, mandrel-bent exhaust aligns throaty turbo mufflers with the aforementioned Pypes tips. And, at the corners of the floor, stylish Rally IIs spin vintage G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around red-lettered "PMD" center caps. Take a look inside this GTO's airy cockpit and you'll find a correct Parchment interior that plays perfectly against the car's bright exterior armor. At the front of that cockpit, a straight and crack-free dash hangs a correct Delco radio and bright wood applique below clear factory gauges. In the middle of the floor, a consoled shifter is centered on restored and stainless-trimmed seats that feature new-for-'69 headrests. At the sides of those seats, good looking Parchment door panels hang red-detailed "GTO" emblems among correct stainless trim and fresh chrome hardware. Below those panels, clean carpet contrasts correct, chrome-trimmed foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, a stain-free headliner is stretched tightly from pillar to post. In front of the driver, a stealthy steering wheel spins grained vinyl around a satin-finished arrowhead. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hides a correct mat, new jack and a full-size spare tire beneath a fresh decklid decal. The sale of this striking classic includes restoration receipts, a cam card, a reproduction window sticker and the aforementioned Pontiac Historic Services documents. This pristine coupe is certainly one of the cleanest GTOs we've ever featured. And most diehard Pontiac fans will agree that 1969 was a high-water mark in terms of styling, performance and exclusivity. With a professional restoration and original drivetrain, nothing will interfere with this goat being both a weapon on the street and a winner on the show field. And if you're a dedicated enthusiast who's looking for the perfect opportunity to pick up the ORIGINAL muscle car, nothing can stop you now! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT Documented One Owner Bright Blue 7,563 Actual Mile Fiero GT 2.8L V6 Power Disc Year: 1987 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Blue Mileage: 7563 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 2.8 Liter V6 Interior color: Charcoal Vehicle Info It was tough being a General Motors fan in the '80s. The company had relegated most of its models to bland copycats of compromised, committee-driven designs which, for the most part, suffered terrible quality problems. But every once in a while, the true car guys broke free of the massive corporate bureaucracy and belted one straight out of the park! Featuring a mid-engine sports car layout which is capped with a lightweight composite body, and known for its excellent driving dynamics, the Pontiac Fiero was one such homerun. Thanks to a continued rise in desirability, the search is on to find the best of the best Fieros that will set the standard for the future collector car market. And with just under 7,600 miles on its odometer, and a folder full of original documentation, this one-owner GT might just be one of the nicest survivors on the planet! The first and only mid-engine volume car America ever produced, the Fiero started out as a roster of existing GM hardware that was headlined by sleek, unique sheetmetal. Sales took off in 1984 and, by the time their hotted up GT model rolled out of the factory, Poncho's pint-size coupe had become a serious performance machine. Sold through Key Pontiac of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, this all-original survivor is a fine example of the days when global manufacturers weren't afraid to take a risk. Everything from the car's clean glass to its chip-free running boards is about as close to perfect as a 27 year old veteran can get. And its 1987-exclusive Bright Blue Metallic paint still displays a fantastic shine! Many enthusiasts believe in the theory that GM kills a model just as soon as they perfect it. And, judging by the looks of this retro-chic cruiser, we'd have to agree. At the front of the car, a chip-free 'aero' nose anchors bright turn signals at the sides of a gaping grille and pristine Fiero emblem. Behind that nose, "PONTIAC" branded headlights lead the eye to clean, "GT" branded glass that's flanked by small, Satin Black mirrors. At the sides of those headlights, black trim spears hang thin marker lamps and flip-up door handles above a small quarter vent. And at the back of the car, a new-for-1986 fastback highlights a prominent deck spoiler, glossy, "PONTIAC GT" branded tail lights and a sculpted bumper that bends around stainless exhaust tips. Models like the Fiero were never about brute power. GM wanted to produce a balanced, economical platform which was inexpensive and provided an excellent driving experience. Accordingly, all Fieros were originally equipped with Pontiac's economical 2.5 liter 'Iron Duke' 4-cylinder. However, the number one complaint of early adopters was the car's lack of power. So in 1985, when the GT model was introduced, a more powerful 2.8 liter V6 was sourced from Chevrolet and tuned by Pontiac to create a 135 horsepower and 165 lb./ft. of curve-carving torque. The 2.8 liter was one of the first transversely mounted V6s to utilize multi-port fuel injection. And the new mill perfectly suited the Fiero which, unlike most exotic sports cars, provided drivers with exciting performance that wasn't overbearing or dangerous. All the hard parts in this car's clean engine bay, from the red, "Fiero" branded intake and Holley throttle body to the red valve covers and black, dent-free oil pan, appear to be factory original. And, as expected, tags, markings and stamps are just where they should be. The 1987 GT features sharp suspension tuning that can be directly attributed to Pontiac's in-house racing program. At the center of that suspension, a solid Hydra-Matic 3-speed provides a series of crisp shifts. At the corners of the car, power disc brakes, borrowed from Chevy's stalwart Chevette, provide concise, drama-free stops. Although there were whispers of optional power steering, a tried and true manual rack was retained. Exhaust exits through a single-into-dual system that's capped with quad stainless tips. Power flows through 2-tone 'snowflake' wheels that spin original 205/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GTs in front of original 215/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GTs. And naturally, the bottom of this time capsule Pontiac is, like its engine bay, in virtually untouched, showroom-fresh condition. This low-slung classic's sporty interior features bright cloth buckets mounted inside a wraparound cockpit design that makes its occupants feel buttoned down and secure. As with any cloth surfaces, wear and seam tears would normally be a major concern, but the rarely used seats in this Pontiac display no splits or thin spots. Between those seats, a wide console hangs a large storage bin behind a traditional GM shifter and controls for power windows and power mirrors. That console flows into a plateaued dash which anchors an original radio below a full array of clear instrumentation. At the sides of that dash, crack-free door panels look great and function well. Below those panels, stain-free carpet is protected by tough, color-keyed floor mats. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped and "Fiero GT" branded steering wheel keeps everything in line. And at the front of the cockpit, a small storage bin stows a beefy jack and Space saver spare tire. As previously mentioned, there's a folder of original documentation. Here's a short list of the significant items that are included with this coupe's sale:A 1987 Pontiac BrochureA 1987 Pontiac Product ManualOriginal delivery procedure paperworkAn original Retail Installment Sale ContractAn original Odometer StatementAn original GM Protection Plan agreementAn original Owner's ManualOriginal factory documentsA copy of the car's original window stickerTwo sets of keys Today, Fiero GTs are almost universally regarded as future collector cars, especially when rare options are part of the discussion. GM only produced 4,458 Bright Blue Fieros, making clean survivors as exclusive as they are cool. If you're a diehard Pontiac fan, a lover of unique classics, or just a smart investor looking for a good bet on a solid return, this all-original coupe is the deal of the year!
