And, while it's our job to facilitate transactions that make car enthusiasts' dreams come true, we also enjoy telling guests about the legendary metal that adorns our massive Charlotte showroom. That's why we simply couldn't wait to tell you about this awesome Raven Black fastback! Fully documented, wearing a fresh restoration and featuring a killer 428/3-speed drivetrain, this Ford is an excellent example of one of the finest muscle cars ever produced. And if you're a discerning enthusiast who demands the very best in high caliber, investment grade classics, it's the story you've been patiently waiting to hear! BODYWORK/TRIM Delivered to Healy Motors of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, this awesome Shelby likely spent very little time in the showroom before its big power and big style were unleashed on big city streets. After roughly four decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free driving, the car received a ground-up restoration that included stripping and reworking each of its solid panels. Once those laser-straight lines and super-smooth surfaces were adequately prepped, correct Raven Black base was buried in thick clear and decorated with precise GT500 KR side stripes. And today, this razor-sharp Shelby rolls as a first-class showpiece that can anchor any serious muscle car collection or hedge any major investment portfolio. The GT500 threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, but also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang styling cues ever created. At the front of this KR, a stainless-trimmed grille hangs big Lucas driving lamps between clear Ford headlights, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to a correct fiberglass hood, which is founded in mirror-like stainless and like-new glass. At the sides of that glass, a straight profile hangs small scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and subtle fender extensions around traditional door handles, correct chrome mirrors and dent-free rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct taillights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and a correct, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. ENGINE Now that you've waded through all the flowery prose about paint and trim, it's time to get down to business. Lift the car's lightweight hood and you'll find 428 cubic inches of Ford V8 that's been completely rebuilt from its big 4-barrel carburetor all the way down to its (D) April 17th (17), 1967 (7) casting date. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crankshaft, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a "COBRA JET" branded air cleaner over a high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle-finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. The fires are lit by a familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a stock radiator, which circulates water through pliable FoMoCo hoses. And charging is provided by squeak-free belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator and correct power steering via simple black pulleys. Aesthetically, the clean engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's tagged Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank, appears fully sorted and ready to show. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find exceedingly clean floors that are every bit as solid as the body's straight exterior panels. The tough C6 3-speed, one of 523 bolted under 1968 KRs, spins a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.50 gears. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, sturdy leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a clean stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, fresh exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. Power meets the ground through 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As, which are wrapped around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. And everything, from the car's stainless fluid lines to its "COBRA" branded oil pan, appears safe, lucid and ready to roll. INTERIOR Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed, chrome-trimmed steering wheel. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer beside a correct Philco radio and requisite Carroll Shelby autograph. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby branded sill plates. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar perfectly complements a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, pliable door panels feature bright stainless trim, spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And at the back of the cockpit, a fully restored trunk hides a new mat, fresh decklid decals and Goodyear Speedway 350 spare. That's really all we need to say to build excitement for our latest investment grade Ford. Of course, the car HAS benefitted from a professional, rotisserie restoration that was completed in May of 2015. So I guess that bumps the word count to eight with: rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR. Then again, it's also a fully documented piece, which lands us at: fully documented, rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR. But wait, I almost forgot about its gleaming coat of killer Lime Gold pigment. So how about: fully documented, rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR that's decked in correct Lime Gold 2-stage? Yeah, that sounds good. But trust us, if you like the sound of that sentence, you're going to LOVE the car it describes! BODYWORK/TRIM According to Ford expert Kevin Marti, this registry-listed Shelby was produced on May 14th, 1968 and delivered down south to Rivers Ford of Monroe, Louisiana. After four decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free living, the car was purchased by its present owner and enjoyed as a solid driver. As we all know, drivers are fun, and the car racked up quite a few MCA Concours awards in that state, but sometimes it's just better to take things to the next level. So, in 2014, this clean Mustang benefitted from a professional, rotisserie restoration that was completed by Shelby specialist Tim Lea of North Andover, Massachusetts. When the car emerged from the shop in May of 2015, everything was 100% correct all the way down to original, assembly-spec oil and air filters. And today, sporting correct Lime Gold Metallic 2-stage under familiar Shelby side stripes, it rolls as a first-class showpiece that secured a Gold at the 2015 Ford/Shelby Nationals in the Concours Heritage Class, and a Silver at SAAC 40 in Division II Concours judging. Naturally, a build this extensive involved quite a bit of original bolt-ons that, according to this KR's owner, were professionally re-plated as needed. At the front of the car, original fiberglass centers a stainless-trimmed grille behind clear Ford headlights, big Lucas driving lamps, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to an original fiberglass hood, which is founded beneath mirror-like stainless and a SuperGlass-massaged greenhouse. At the sides of that greenhouse, a straight profile hangs original scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and original fender extension around traditional door handles, a correct chrome mirror and NOS rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct taillights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and an original, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. ENGINE While the car's professionally rebuilt engine isn't original equipment, it is a highly accurate, date-correct 428. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crank, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a correct, SM8S-equipped air cleaner over a date-correct carburetor and high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle-finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. The fires are lit by a familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a re-cored radiator, which circulates water through pliable Autolite hoses and vintage screw clamps. And charging is provided by squeak-free V-belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator between correct power steering and correct smog equipment. Aesthetically, the marked and decaled engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's factory brake booster and fresh Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank and fresh Autolite voltage regulator, is fully sorted and ready to show. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find correct, Oxide Red floors that are such a close interpretation of the car's original foundation that they back correct Lime Gold overspray with factory-accurate paint drips. A tough C6 3-speed utilizes a correctly marked Dead Nuts On driveshaft to spin a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.50 gears. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, correct C7ZA leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a clean stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, fresh exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. And power meets the ground through E70-15 Kelsey repros, which wrap correct, KR-exclusive black sidewalls around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. INTERIOR Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed and chrome-trimmed steering wheel. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer beside a correct Philco radio. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby-branded sills. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar and decaled sun visors perfectly complement a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, which serves as a requisite foundation for Python-restored seatbelts, pliable door panels mix bright stainless trim and spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And at the back of the cockpit, a fully restored trunk sandwiches a matching Kelsey spare between a new mat and fresh decklid decal. If these cars are so special, why didn't someone take better care of them? This special-order Speed Yellow 1968 Shelby GT500KR is unquestionably a spectacular car, but it was almost lost forever and presents an interesting case study in seeing the forest for the trees. Literally hours away from the crusher, it was rescued by someone who recognized its greatness where others saw nothing but a burned-out shell of an old Mustang. In 1978, even a Shelby GT500KR convertible (with AC!) was little more than a used car. Certain astute collectors at the time recognized that these were special cars, but they had not yet gathered the immense following they enjoy today. Even Carroll Shelby himself had turned his back on the Mustangs bearing his name years earlier, dismissing them as little more than interesting footnotes to the Mustang story. So when Shelby 03900 was stolen, stripped of its engine and transmission, then set on fire, there was no public outcry. And the original owner probably happily cashed the check the insurance company gave him as compensation. The stripped, burned-out carcass was hauled away to a local scrap yard called Twin Service in Anderson, Indiana, where it was scheduled to be crushed just like any other stripped, burned-out theft recovery. However, a sharp-eyed enthusiast spotted the body at Twin Service and immediately made his move. Noting the original Shelby fender tag was still intact and therefore knowing the car was a top-of-the-line GT500KR convertible, he arranged to purchase it for $500 just hours before it was slated to hit the crusher. He paid the wrecking service to drag the car to his home where he began an extensive restoration. In 1978, you could still order Shelby parts directly from Ford, so all new fiberglass OEM pieces were purchased to replace those that were destroyed by the fire. Other missing parts were tracked down and added to the growing collection of NOS equipment that would restore 03900 to its original condition. Sadly, that never happened, as even in 1978, the resources required to restore a Shelby Mustang, never mind one that was burned, were substantial. Eventually the car and all its associated parts were sold, bouncing from collector to collector for almost 20 years. By the late '90s, it had become pretty clear that the cost of restoring the car was insignificant compared to the value of a finished product, so at least one previous owner made a heroic effort to restore the car using a donor vehicle to supply items like the correct black interior and other irreplaceable parts. His workmanship must have been very, very good, because the pros at Custom Classics, who re-restored the car several years later, could find no trace of fire damage. When this Mustang landed at Custom Classics, many of the NOS parts acquired by the first restorer were still on the car and the remaining correct, authentic and original components were assembled to create an absolutely stunning convertible. The car itself is no less remarkable than its story. Originally delivered to Dallas, Texas, it carries special-order WT6066 yellow paint, factory AC, a C6 automatic transmission and a tilt steering column. It is 1 of only 20 Shelby convertibles painted WT6066 yellow and, of those, 1 of only 7 equipped with air conditioning. Custom Classics' spectacular restoration incorporated all the aforementioned NOS parts plus hundreds more that were painstakingly researched and properly date-coded. The paint is 2-stage urethane that exactly duplicates special order Bright Yellow and looks especially good under correct stripes and call-outs. Naturally, any flaws carried by the original fiberglass have been thoroughly exorcised (even after Ford took over Shelby production, the 'glass wasn't all that great). Panel alignment is exceptional, gaps are even all around and the car fits together better than any Mustang ever built by the factory. When it comes to trimmings, all the correct Shelby badges and lettering, including the awesome 428 Cobra Jet emblems, have been replaced with NOS or exact reproduction pieces. The tail panel, with correct Thunderbird sequential taillights, is beautifully finished in correct Argent Silver and, yes, those are real Lucas driving lights in the grille. Side marker lamps, new for 1968, are beautiful reproduction pieces, and the bumpers show better chrome than was humanly possible in 1968. All glass is new, stainless is polished and there's absolutely no detail on this drop-top that's been overlooked. The car is vastly nicer than new in every way! The incredible detailing extends under the hood, where a rebuilt, date-correct 428 Cobra Jet looks right at home. Rated at 335 horsepower, it's no secret that the mighty CJ actually made around 410 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stoplight-slaying torque. Bathed in rich Ford Blue, this particular mill features correct "COBRA" valve covers, functional ram-air and a complete thermactor system. The engine bay is dominated by a massive compressor for the AC system, which is fully functional and blows ice cold. Correct hoses, clamps, wiring, and clips were used throughout the engine compartment, resulting in a highly accurate, concours-ready appearance. An original radiator is perched up front, with a reproduction Autolite battery cover doing a very good impersonation of the real thing. And the mean motor rumbles to life easily, pulling with an endless well of torque that absolutely incinerates those skinny Goodyear tires. The chassis looks exactly factory correct as well. Red Oxide primer backs 'blown in' Bright Yellow paint, just like on the assembly line. The C6 automatic has been rebuilt and, like the engine, is correct for a Shelby GT500KR. Out back, there's a bulletproof Ford 9-inch that's fitted with 3.00 gears. Original factory markings have been reproduced, from the driveshaft balance stripes to the torque dobs on the suspension bolts. The original factory convertible reinforcements are in place. An exact reproduction exhaust system has been installed, complete with correct tips. A new gas tank hangs amid fully rebuilt brakes and suspension. Gorgeous 10-spoke Shelby alloys carry Goodyear bias-ply tires, although it appears that the car's spare is an original or NOS piece. The interior remains the one transplanted by the previous restorer. And, since it's far more correct and accurate than any reproduction kit available today, Custom Classics decided to leave it as-is. The seats are deep and comfortable, and we're inclined to agree with Custom Classics in their assessment-the reproduction seat covers don't have pleats that are as deep as those on an original car, and these sure look authentic. The Shelby Cobra logo on the center armrest is crisp and clear and not overstuffed-looking like the reproductions, and the woodgrain pattern on the dash and center console is excellent. We have to believe the carpets are reproductions, and they are correct in material and ply, protected by a set of rubber floor mats. The Rim Blow steering wheel is just too nice not to be a restored piece. And the gauges have clearly been rebuilt, with crisp markings, deep black backgrounds and brilliant orange pointers. In addition to being listed in the SAAC Registry with a known ownership history, original photos of this Mustang's scrapyard stay include images of an original Shelby fender tag that matches the one currently on the car. Here's a list of everything that's included with our sale:An original owner's manualA Deluxe Marti Auto Works ReportDozens of restoration photos provided by Custom ClassicsA letter from Jim Wicks, SAAC Regional Director and Event Chairman, who authenticated the car in January, 2007 saying: "...I have examined and inspected the above listed vehicle on several occasions in the process of the restoration. In a world of many "clones" and "recreations" I feel strongly that this car is XXXX-03900, the 3900th 1968 Shelby Mustang built for 1968. I feel this vehicle has received a high-quality restoration and could be considered for anyone's investment grade collection, display, or museum..." In summary, this is a thoroughbred Shelby with a concours-quality restoration. The parts are correct in every way possible given the car's unique history. As far as investments go, it's awfully hard to beat a Shelby GT500KR convertible with a special-order color and a ton of options. Blue chip doesn't even begin to cover this convertible's status! To add your chapter to this car's fascinating history, all you need to do is give us a call. About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. 2009 GT500KRAll Shelbys are rare, but 09KR009 has perhaps the most unique of ANY of the '08-'09 GT500KRs - this is due to its ownership history and the condition of the car. Furnished to serious inquiries, the story of how this car came to be built and delivered makes 09KR009 - the 9th car produced in 2009 - the late-model Shelby equivalent to finding a unicorn in a haystack. The next owner of this car will be part of a story that involves Ford Motor Company executives, promises made, promises broken, amends made, and a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with a tall Texan wearing a black hat. There were only 712 GT500KRs built in 2009. That's 299 less than the 1011 of the 2008 models that were eventually produced. When you do the same math for just the USA models (i.e., excluding Canadian models), there's approxamitely 500 fewer 2009 models than 2008's. With approximately a scant 500 cars produced for the USA, the 2009 model is actually twice as rare as a 2008 model.Shelby 09KR009 is now for sale by the original owner. This stunning example was purchased through Sanderson Ford in Phoenix, AZ but delivered to Shelby American in Las Vegas, NV. It was specially ordered per the owner's specifications, including taking delivery from Carrol Shelby himself. During the delivery process, Shelby autographed the glove box/airbag cover. As anyone who has gotten an autograph from Shelby knows, he charges a donation to his charity EVERY time, but also would give a certificate of authenticity, which I have. Signed just 3 years prior to his passing, the shaky hand of an old legend is shown in the autograph's script. There ain't no more like this.It is fully equipped with every single available option. Powered by the proven 5.4 Liter DOHC supercharged V8 producing 540hp with a 6-speed short-throw transmission, carbon composite hood (a nearly $20,000 part new), 20" Alcoa aluminum KR-specific wheels, and a 3.73 rear axle. Shaker 1000 6-disc CD w/Sirius and Aux Input stereo was the only other option available, which of course this car has. Both the Cobra logo and the KR-specific badging is found throughout the vehicle, including the grille, dash, fenders, steering wheel, seats and headrests, tail, and on the engine in several places. All fluid reservoirs have special OE billet KR-specific caps as well. Drastically different - and more expensive - than the GT500 of the same years, the KR is a beast whose full impact is brutal and ferocious, giving nothing away to the 6 years that have passed since it was produced. All Shelbys are special; this amazing example comes with the pre-sale email correspondence between the owner and Ford Motor Company representatives - a candid and truly unique record of this amazing car's history! This is an opportunity to own a piece of real Shelby history with an incredibly unique story. MSRP cost over $81,485.The combination of a powerful engine, chassis and visual presence makes the Shelby GT500KR a true collectible. This particular Shelby GT500KR has less than 3500 original miles. Comes with original window sticker, owner's manual, and every single shred of paper and other materials that came with the car when delivered, right down to the glove box tag. Previous registrations and other various documents are included as well - I don't have photos of them because they contain my personal info. Also, I have the unopened box of the brake duct kit that came with the car. This car has been professionally photographed at a cost in excess of $1500, and the photographer can still be contacted for the production of future prints. This is literally the most interesting, unique, and correct late-model GT500KR in existence.Auction sales in recent years have exceeded $80,000 for cars in similar or slightly worse condition that don't have the history that this car has. After auction commissions and sales tax, professional car collectors were willing to pay nearly $100,000 for cars that are not quite at this car's level. My car is either nicer and more rare than these, but if you want to research this exact car, go to the Barrett-Jackson website and search for the following run numbers from previous auctions (and remember the numbers given there are *before) buyer and seller commissions and taxes):132696162614183810162615137974I'm hoping to sell it now and don't want to wait for the frenzy of the auction season. If it fails to sell, I will re-list the car during the auction activity, when the big cash buyers come to town looking for a prize. This car will surely stand out. Now is the time to purchase a car like this for a fair, non-inflated price. Also, the plate seen in the pic (indicating that this is the 9th car made in '09) will of course go with the car.Much Thanks for your interest and time to read this listing!!AZ Residents add 7.3% tax. This thoroughbred is finished in stunning Raven Black over Black, one of only 6% of total KR Convertible production or 33 cars. Add to that the quality of her restoration, not just concours gold winning, but one of only a handful that have earned the Shelby Concours Triple Crown: • 2012 Mustang Club of America, Providence, Rhode Island National Show, Concours Trailered Gold Award • 2012 Shelby American Automobile Club, Watkins Glen, New York, Concours Gold-Div 2 • 2012 Team Shelby, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heritage Gold Award - Concours Heritage Class The quality of her condidition compliments her pedigree." # 2524 is one of the finest examples of a restored Shelby anywhere. You will be hard pressed to find a more historically accurate car anywhere. If you ever wanted to experience what a new 1968 Shelby was like, this is a rare opportunity to own the very best. That's not my opinion, but rather the opinion of the most knowledgeable Shelby people in the world." -Peter Disher, aka the Coralsnake and SAAC Concours Judge In 2012, 2524 underwent a full rotisserie restoration by Tim Lea, one of the most well regarded restorers within the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) community. The 428 Cobra Jet big-block V-8 engine, dated 8B5 (or February 5, 1968) a few months before the build date of the car, and VIN stamped C-6 automatic transmission were completely rebuilt to original factory specifications. She has been driven approximately 3,100 miles since 2012, mostly to local shows and events in the Los Angeles area. In addition, #2524 was featured in a recent Ford family wedding. Retired from competition, occasional driving does results in slight patina, primarily within the engine bay and undercarriage. Minor wear to plated and bare metal components is to be expected and is regularly detailed to maintain the factory finish. She is a 1968 Shelby GT500KR, a concours Triple Crown winning "King of the Road."Rare - one of 518 GT500KR's produced and only one of a dozen to win the Concours Triple Crown.Desirable - Raven Black over Black Décor interior, offset by a white power convertible top and white rocker panel stripes. She certainly stirs the soul.Excellence - either in restoration detail or quality of preservation.Provenance - a vehicle's history and pedigree within the enthusiast community. A car possessing any three of these traits would be a solid addition to a private collection, having all four makes this Shelby a must have for any serious collector.Call 847-838-3749 or Email [email protected] for more information! Exterior Description Raven Black body works shines like an obsidian mirror. All body gaps and body panel alignment are better than the factory could do in 1968. All the fiberglass work is also original to the car. FIt and finish of the paint and body is superior to most any other example currently available on the market. You will notice that the car is photographed with both vintage Good Year polyglas tires and modern radials. The car can be fitted with one or the other at the buyer's option as a condition of sale. Interior Description The interior is in absolute factory OE condition. ?Restored to concours specifications, her interior trim looks and feels new. Hard to find wear items such as the steering wheel and shifter handle are likewise restored to showroom condition. She was factory ordered new with White Power Convertible Top with Glass Blacklight, GT Equipment Group, Visibility Group, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Tilt-away Steering Column, AM Radio, Interior Decor Group, Tachometer and Trip Odometer. Every acccessory works. Engine Bay Description Engine bay also presents as factory equipped. She is driven occassionally, so it is natural to see a mild patina soften the plated and bare metal finishes. During a recent concours detailing, all these surfaces were cleaned and any factory labels that displayed wear, such as the DR sticker on the shock tower, were replaced with fresh ones. When you are looking for a fine collectible, it isn't just how recent the restoration it is, it is how quality of the work done and how well maintained the vehicle is once it is completed. This one offers the best in workmanship and OE detail, with an owner who knows how to keep it in near showroom condition. Chassis Description Retired from "Concours Trailer Queen" competition, she been driven approximately 3,100 miles since 2012, mostly to local shows and events in the Los Angeles area. Occasional driving does result in minor wear and tear, primarily within the engine bay and undercarriage as you might expect. But meticulous detailing after each outing and a deep detail at the end driving season has allowed this Shelby KR to enjoy the exhilaration of the open road, while maintaining her concours pedigree. The current owner has just recently performed a concours detail, cleaning all plated and bare metal parts to preserve their factory finish. Genuinely rare, eminently beautiful, concours correct, and a Shelby you can drive- Owning this GT500KR will certainly grant you the title, King of the Road. 2008 Shelby GT500KR   If you’d ever wanted to step back in time & buy your favorite modern Muscle Car you may have just missed a few years back & now can afford…this may be yours today. We’ve just acquired from its 1st & only owner, Michael Hagley of Sanford, Florida who bought this on September 5th, 2008 from Magarino Ford Lincoln Mercury located in Sussex, New Jersey, for investmentsake only. Mike was a collector of special ordered Muscle Cars made in limited numbers. Let’s reminisce…in New York, Shelby launches the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR, a special-edition GT500 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original “King of the Road.” The GT500KR is the second product after the GT500 to wear the almost-defunct SVT badge, reminding us that Ford still claims it has a performance division. In 1967, the New York auto show played host to the launch of the original GT500KR, a version of the Shelby Mustang powered by a 428-cubic-inch Cobra Jet V-8 rated at 335 horsepower. With the ’08 model’s supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 under hood wearing a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, the 2008 KR outdoes its predecessor by 205 horsepower—a margin greater than the entire output of some V-8 Mustangs of the 1980s—with 540. That herd travels rearward through a six-speed manual with a short-throw shifter to a shorter 3.73:1 rear end. Beyond the yawning hood vents and racing stripes already in place on lesser GT500s, the GT500KR gets the signature hood, reminiscent of the original KR, in carbon fiber with two forward-looking mail slots at the leading edge of the hood feeding the blown 5.4’s appetite for air and twist-down hood pins for a more secure racer flair. Now when these KR’s were sold, dealers got big profits well over the MSRP sticker price. In fact Mr.Hagley paid $100,000.+ taxes for this beauty. This particular KR was bought new & stashed from new still retaining the original window stickers on the right side passenger window & Shelby’s own added on sticker on the front window depicting a list price total of $81,475. Its Silver Clearcoat Metallic paintwork are offset by its full Black Leather seat interior accented by Bright Blue GT-500KR striping. It is # 108 of 1000 made in total. The KR is absolutely dead BRAND NEW & includes every stitch of paperwork from new including 2 bills of sale, copy of the original MSO, all books & delivery stuff that is way to much to even mention. The best part of this KR is it has a mere 20 miles on the odometer from new & it is going to be one of the best investments one can make on a post-2000 special edition Muscle Car.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the best KR on Earth that’s just loaded to the gills & in time warp condition. I am representing this gorgeous Shelby. I can personally answer all questions. Please take note...we need a $2500. deposit within 48 hours of  making a deal. 1968 Shelby GT-500-KR Convertible428 Cobra Jet - Factory AirMatt Garrett - Dallas Texas - 214-878-3823 Click here for My Car Hobby Home Page1968 Shelby GT500-KR1968 Shelby GT500-KR Convertible, Shelby 3854 - FACTORY AC, 428 cu. in. Cobra-Jet V-8 engine, C6 auto, 3:00 Trac-Lok 9" Diff. Built June 26th, 1968 this Shelby is a substantial, rare and very documented car in many publications going back to the 80s as it sits exactly today. Original miles, original body and interior, Numbers match everywhere. This car received a comprehensive refinish done in the 80s by its 2nd owner, Chuck Brown in CA documented not only in photos, but many publications of that era.. This was never a left for dead or done for profit car. It was not a torn up neglected car or just a VIN used to cash in. This is not a "just restored car" It was, always was and still is a very nice mid #1 level example that has been loved all of its life. I wont quote production #s on KR Convertibles as that is redundant if you know these cars, but of course will mention the fact that Factory AC on and GT500KR is a needle in the haystack and really is what puts this car over the top as a rare collector. In the 80s when 2nd owner Chuck Brown decided to take this car up a notch, he was not thinking of how Marti and all of the other things people base these cars this minute on were going to play out about 30 years later. He was thinking of quality vs just a surface face that will pass muster at a now common auction. The very comprehensive refinish is now over 30 years old. Looking as good as it does today is rare to see on a car refreshed so many years ago. Again, this is not a restoration... Of course those terms 'patina" and "settling in nicely' coined by those auctions do come to play, but the car is really exceptional and shows better now as it did when all of these magazines had it featured. Every number and code are matching, original and authentic on this car as inspected by noted appraisers and Kevin Marti... Then later in its life, Carol himself. The 3rd Owner was Carol's friend/neighbor here in Texas. Carol was instrumental in finding/recommending this car for Mr Wise, a very wealthy entrepreneur that had a money no object stance with anything he did. Ironically the car was never "signed" by Carol as it was not deemed necessary in that circle. Many years prior to Carol's death, the 3rd owner of this car, Mr. Wise, passed away leaving this car to sit well protected for over another decade. Now what is is not correct on this car is the color or the fact the wheel centers are outlined in red. It is a Code R Highland Green car. In the 80s, Chuck Brown took the attitude that I agree with, "they are only original once' and this car cannot ever make that claim again even if the only thing done was paint a fender.. In this world of originality it does get that ridiculous, but I dont make the rules. Chuck elected to take what is considered by many as not a great color and changed it correctly as any color change ever done to Red. Purists may poopoo that to death that have not yet completed their restoration that may or may not ever get done, but it is what it is and the car is WAY too nice to go and color change to match the tag up and take away much of its noted attraction and history that it has under its belt. The car has been red for way longer than it has been green! The outlined red wheels are as you see in the 80s publications. I leave them that way as the documentation trail stays in tact. Think of this.... It was never in a magazine or won shows as a green car... so take it for what you will. This car received tip marks at SAAC in 1988 exactly as you see it now with no refreshment. It is also said to have been at SAAC 3 and 9 but I have not seen any photos of it there. Hoping someone may have one that turns up. This is a CA car, so it went to many of the SAAC early events. This is one of the nicest and highest integrity 60s cars I have seen, owned or been associated with to date. Far from a muscle car dealer slap together and not far off from the best day one original that has survived as best as all the love in the world could give it.More below after photos. For sale to the collector that wants a car that can show/drive that comes with authentication, history, prevalence and more. Interesting trades considered up or down. Prefer GM muscle with big engine option, AC and convertible. Apples to apples in other words. Just run it by me and see if something works out. All door glass is original. As seen in 1989 magazine Good Points Mid Level 1 Show Car - It will be the King of most any show it enters History!!! - As you see this car has been its condition all the way back to the early 80s and is CA car noted and documentedDocumentation - In many magazines in the 80s and 90s at a time that most were left for deadAttended all early SAAC events in CAOriginality - Despite being a partial restoration, much originality is in this car. Storage - Never a left for dead car, always nice since new!Ownership - Never out of responsible hands. Most of these cars are pieced together, this one is not.Done for love - Never Profit - Done at a time when depth and quality were more important that purism and on surface cosmeticsIntegrity - Beyond what you can see at auctions... Would be hard pressed to find one that is this sorted (as it has not been torn apart to need sorting), fully functional and simply runs and drives like a near new car with the AC on.A star attraction at MANY MANY SW united states car shows for the past many years. So much it has just become a display car vs a judged car. Thank you for visiting; Click here for My Car Hobby Home PageYou can email me at [email protected]

VIDEO OF INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR: Don't miss out on this rare collectible!! SHELBY ORIGINAL FACTORY SPECS (may not apply to actual car) Shelby Mustang The Shelby is a higher performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 to 1967, and Shelby Automotive from 1968 to 1970. Following the introduction of the fifth generation Ford Mustang, the Shelby nameplate was revived in 2007 for new high performance versions of the Mustang but this time designed and built by Ford at Ford Plants Overview Production 1967-1968 Assembly 1967: Los Angeles, California 1968: Ionia, Michigan Body and chassis Body style 2-door fastback 2-door convertible (1968) Powertrain Engine 289 cu in (4.7 L) V8 (1967 GT350) 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8 (1968 GT350) 428 cu in (7.0 L) V8 (GT500KR) 427 cu in (7.0 L) V8 (Early GT500) Transmission 3-speed automatic 4-speed manual For 1967, the GT 350 carried over the K-Code high performance 289 with a 'COBRA' aluminum hi-rise. The GT 500 was added to the lineup, equipped with the 428 Police Interceptor. These later cars carried over few of the performance modifications of the 1965-66 GT350s, although they did feature more cosmetic changes. In September 1967, production was moved to the A.O. Smith Company of Ionia, Michigan, under Ford control. Shelby American had substantially less involvement after this time. One 1967 Fastback was built as the "Super Snake" - a GT-500 equipped with a 427 FE engine producing over 500 horsepower. The car was capable of speeds over 150 mph; hitting 170 mph during a demonstration (by Shelby himself) of Goodyear's Thunderbolt tires. No cars other than the prototype were built due to limited interest. The car sold at Mecum's 2013 Indianapolis auction for $1.3 million USD. For 1968, the Cobra name was applied to both models, and they were now marketed as the Shelby Cobra GT 350 and the Shelby Cobra GT 500. In February 1968, the Cobra GT 500-KR "King of the Road"; under the hood was a 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8 which was rated at 335 horsepower (250 kW). I am having to relist because of a deadbeat (chineur3664) non-paying bidder. So please only serious bids\offers. I've just turned 50 and must be going through a mid-life thing because, with much heartache and reluctance, I have decided to sell my project to purchase a Harley. The "Buy It Now" $9500 US is the price I paid for the car. You are getting the parts and memorbilia for free. So if you are a Mustang fan and are looking for a unique winter project I doubt you will find anything better for the money. Why build a Shelby clone when you can start with the real thing? When was the last time you saw a 07 GT (never mind a real Shelby) with only 9k miles. I have a '07 Shelby GT (NOT A GT500) salvage car that I brought up from Pensylvania. The car has not been registered in Canada so what I have for paperwork is a Pensylvania Salvage Certificate, a bill of sale and all appropriate paperwork for the car to come across the border. It has a bent frame on front drivers rail and both driver and passenger dash air bags are deployed but not the ones in the seats. The doors line up perfectly and open and close beautifully. The car has always started rite up on 1st try until recently. The battery died and for some reason, it won't start since. I don't hear the fuel pump prime so it is a fuel issue. I know it is something minor but have not had the time (7 and 9 year old daughters) to investigate further. Well, that takes care of the bad so let us hear the good. At Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas, about 5632 California Specials were converted to Shelby GT cars for the 07 model year. They were only available in the USA at select Ford Dealers. These cars were not sold in Canada so you don't see very many of them around up here. The goodies they received at Shelby are: Ford Racing Power Pack - 90 mm Cold Air Intake - Reworked Engine Calibration - Upgraded Exhaust - 3:55 Axle Ratio - Hurst Short Throw Shifter with Cue Ball Knob Ford Racing Handling Pack - 1.5" Lowering Springs - Stiffer Dampers - Upgraded Sway Bars - Strut Tower Brace Shelby Design Mods - Silver LeMans Racing Stripes - "Shelby GT" Rocker Panel Stripes - Cobra/65-66 GT350 Inspired Hood Scoop - "SHELBY" Spelled Out On Trunk (same as 1968 GT500KR) - Brushed Aluminum Grille - "Shelby GT" Door Sill Plates - Shelby Floor Mats - Authentification Plate above center stack featuring a CSM # - Matching # Tag in engine compartment So with those mods, the car is a bit quicker and slightly different looking than a regular GT. But just in case that isn't enough I have collected some parts to assist in the repair and also have some to make it stand out in appearance as a Shelby should. These parts are not installed but do go with the car. Body 2 x Fenders (off another black Shelby GT) 1 x California Special Front Bumper Cover (black) 2 x Headlights (L&R) 1 x Shelby GT Brushed Aluminum Grille 1 x Elanor Grille with fog light extensions (similar to a GT but removes the pony and put fog lights in middle) 1 x Mustang GT OE Grille with Fog Lights 1 x "Shelby" Billet Hood Pin Kit 1 x California Special Side Scoops (+ ones on car) 2 x SVT 4" Tip Mufflers 2 x "Shelby" Rear Window Block Off Plates (2 pairs black w/ simulated rivets) 2 x Shelby GT Hood Scoops 1 x Shelby GT Hood Scoop Install Kit and Instructions 1 x Cervini Shelby Style Tail Light Kit 4 x 20" Shelby Razor Rims (gunmetal) 2 x 255/35/ZR20 BFG on front rims (no curb rash on rims and tires practically new) 2 x 305/35/20 Nitto 555 on rear rims (no curb rash on rims but tires almost done) 2 x 305/35/ZR20 GY Eagle F1 (used but descent tread) Emblems and Decals 1 x Cobra Jet Faux Fuel Cap (looks like GT500 unit but does not say it) 1 x "Shelby GT" Faux Fuel Cap Center 2 x "Powered By Ford" Fender Badges 1 x GT500 Grille Emblem (cobra right facing) 1 x GT500 Fender Emblem (cobra left facing) 1 x Shelby GT Grille Emblem (running pony) 2 x "Shelby GT" Rocker Panel Stripes 1 x "S" "H" "E" "L" "B" "Y" Trunk Letters Under Hood 1 x "Ford Racing" Strut Tower Brace (+ one on car) 1 x "Ford Racing" Cold Air Intake (+ one on car) 1 x Steeda Urethane Mtr Mount Kit 1 x Shelby Aluminum Master Cyl Cover (not just a lid but a box that covers whole master cyl) 1 x "Shelby GT" Fuse Box Cover ( not just a lid but a box that covers whole fuse box) 1 x Shelby Aluminum Power Steering Res 1 x "Shelby GT" Billet Engine Cap Set (dip handle, oil fill, mast cyl, coolant, windshield washer) Interior 2 x Shelby Signature 2 5/8" Carbon Fiber Gauge Sets and Pods (boost, fuel press, oil press) 1 x Shelby Signature 2 5/8" Carbon Fiber Oil Temp Gauge 1 x Vent Pod (for above gauge) 3 x "Shelby" with "S" Snake Headrest Covers (3 pairs) 1 x "Shelby" with "S" Snake Armrest Cover 1 x "Shelby Signature" with "S" Snake Carpet Set (2 x fronts and 1 x trunk) 1 x "Shelby GT/SC" with "S" Snake Carpet Set (2 X fronts and 1 x trunk) 1 x "Terlingua Race Team" Floor Mat Emblem Set (no mats) 1 x Shelby "S" Snake Aluminum Dead Pedal 1 x "Shelby" with "S" Snake Aluminum Shift Ball 1 x Passenger Air Bag Cover (carbon fiber look) 1 x Mustang and Shelby GT Owners Manual and Case 1 x 2009 Mustang and Shelby GT500 Owners Manual and Case Memorabilia and Collectables 1 x 2'x3' Black and White pic of 66 Fastback Drag Car (this hung in Shelby Museum in Las Vegas) 1 x 2'x2' Photo of Black and White Shelby GT's in desert (this hung in lunch room of speed shop in Las Vegas) There are a few smaller things but can't think of them at the moment. The car is nicely appointed with carbon fiber look dash trim, black leather interior, active anti-theft and the shaker 1000 stereo. It only has 9856 orig miles (15862 klm) so once fixed it will be like a new car, a really cool new car. It would make a fabulous father/son project. I have found a Harley I want and that is the ONLY REASON I am considering selling. I am NOT SELLING the car because 1) It can't be put back on the road 2) It is to expensive to repair 3) It can't be repaired. I AM SELLING the car because at this time with a young family and house renovations taking place I don't have the time and probably won't have the money to finish it in the near future. I may be interested in trades for Harley Dyna 2010+. Any questions let me know. I will try to answer in a timely manner but my schedule is crazy. And the usual eBay stuff. Shipping arrangements and costs are buyers responsibility. I am more than willing to work with your shipper but buyer pays and sets it up. I reserve the right to end auction at any time as the car is advertised locally. Thanks For Your Interest

The car is nicely appointed with carbon fiber look dash trim, black leather interior, active anti theft and the shaker 1000 stereo. I reserve the rite to end auction at any time as the car is advertised locally. Thanks For Your Interest
