We are selling our 1997 Chevy Lumina that includes 4 mounted and studded winter tires. The summer tires are currently on the car. This runs good and is a comfortable ride. My wife used this car for her transportation to work and we kept up on the maintenance and fixed anything that was wrong. Recently had the fuel tank replaced because it tripped the check engine light. The original engine blew a head gasket, and we put a used engine in with 70,000 miles on it, and insisted the shop replace the head gasket on the new engine before it went in. That was about 9,000 miles ago. Point is, we have done everything mechanical that has needed to be done. So you are buying a good reliable ride. We are listing this as good condition because we have kept up the mechanical, but the body has rust, so if they had a condition for the body, we would put fair. See photos to see rust. Has PA inspection till 12/2015. In the process, the mechanic noted the water pump is leaking. On parts Geek dot com, you can find one for between 15 and 40 bucks. Some people may not be used to the amount of steering slop inherent in a Ford truck. Front End Wear: We (nor any dealer, including Ford factory dealers) properly inspect ball joints and related parts. The proper way to inspect is with a run out gauge for play and spec. (Incompetent mechanics love to hand twist the joints and claim that the "slop" is proof of excessive wear) Therefore, to avoid debates with the truck thousands of miles away, please assume that this truck will have front end wear, including but not limited to the ball joints, arms, steering stabilizer, and all other parts associated with the front suspension that may require replacement. After-Sale Repairs: We will not reimburse any repairs which are performed prior to our authorization. If you feel there is a problem with your vehicle upon delivery, notify us immediately. We require that any issue be documented by video (easy to do with modern cell phones). You agree that any repair that you make without our prior consent will not be reimbursed and that you will hold Wheel Kinetics harmless for the repairs. Leaks: If you do not like leaks, do not buy a used truck, and especially not a diesel truck! It is normal for trucks to seep oil, particularly through transfer case casting cracks, motor and transmission gaskets, etc. We inspect for fluid leaks, not fluid seeps. Assume that this truck will come with fluid seepage. Vibrations: Cars and trucks vibrate, especially used cars and trucks with 259785 miles. We note vibrations whenever present, and you can watch our great driving videos for particulars. Most vibrations are caused by tires (second being brakes from warped rotors, third being driveshaft). In an ongoing effort to keep our vehicle prices down for customers, we often sell vehicles on bad tires. That allows you to choose the best size and quality for your application (we can put you in contact with our tire shop and receive our discounted pricing). However, vibrations are vague and very subjective. It is nearly impossible to troubleshoot a vibration over the phone given the subjectivity in the description. Therefore, we must disclaim all vibrational issues. Please assume that this Ford will have a vibration. I've owned this van since 2004 or so, and overall, it's about the most reliable vehicle I've ever had. It starts every time, runs great, and has power to spare.First the bad: It's UGLY. I replaced the doors about 5 years ago, and since they didn't match, gave it a full spray job. I specifically chose Rustoleum gray because I can match it anytime, anywhere. Since that initial refinish, I've continued to touch it up with a brush, and that's exactly what it looks like. As rust develops in the usual spots (Rocker panels, mainly), I just shoot some foam in there, slap some glass over it, and paint it over with the same paint. It's good enough to pass PA inspection, and even looks half decent from a distance (never been pulled over), but the closer you get, the rougher it looks.I have a video virtual test-drive online so you can actually hear it run, but since Ebay doesn't allow links, you'll have to write me for it. The good is that it runs strong, has never failed me, and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and drive it cross country on a moments notice -- trailering any of my other cars -- and that's no exaggeration. In fact, a year or so ago, after not driving it for about six months, I had an opportunity to acquire a free Grand Cherokee -- but it had to be trailered from about 250 miles away. I just jumped in the van, rented a trailer, and went an fetched it without a second thought, and it never gave me a moment of concern (other than when I got home and discovered I'd forgotten to strap the Jeep to the trailer.) Details:5.9L (360 ci) throttle-body-injection engine. 727 Torqueflite trans. Limited slip differential (posi-traction). Cruise, tilt, PW, PD, air (not currently working), tinted glass all around. HD frame-mount trailer hitch. ~130,000 miles. Tires are brand new (< 1 mile on them): 235-75R15 non-studded winter tires. Spare is good.Brand new battery, recent high-volume oil pump and aftermarket (built-in) oil pressure and volt meter gauges. I've replaced both lower control arms in the past couple of years. Brakes, front end, steering, suspension are all good. It's inspected, and I've generally kept up with maintenance. I just installed a new magnetic pickup in the distributor. Starts every time with no hesitation whatsoever It's an excellent work vehicle, and could be a prospect for a camper conversion.I also did an iffy job on installing the doors, so they need some adjustment. You can see in the pictures they don't hang quite right, but the hinges are solid -- just not adjusted right. I honestly don't drive it enough to keep careful track of oil consumption -- I do know I throw a quart in now and again (I always use 15W50, as per the previous owner's advice, and have never had any issues with it starting, even after sitting for weeks in sub/near-zero temperatures), but it doesn't smoke, and there are no obvious hemmorages like around the rear seal or anything like that.This was originally a decked-out passenger van, so it's got nice cloth factory seats in the front, door panels, and so forth. (Seat brackets but no seats in rear.) The headliner in the rear was hanging, so I took it down. I also picked up the carpeting in the rear (which was pretty funky anywy) to fully inspect the floors before putting it up for sale. I did discover a couple of small holes as a result, but they're not compromising any spring mounts or structural points, so a bit of metal and some fiberglass should suffice to get them under control. (See the pictures)There's one hole in the body, also shown in the pictures, that I haven't gotten around to filling. Again, I emphasize that my body work is pretty crude -- this will never be a show van -- but I am confident it will hold together for a good long while to come.There's a short somewhere in the courtesy light circuit that will drain the battery if left connected for long stretches -- like, more than a month or so. Since I don't use it regularly, I just keep that plug disconnected under the hood -- it's easy to reach when needed. The window washer reservoir has a crack (leaks) -- I have a replacement -- just haven't gotten around to installing it. There are also several spare side windows that came with the extra doors.No knocks or any suspicious noises -- check out the video (contact me for link) -- I made the video after the van hadn't run in a month or more, so you can see how it starts with no problem after sitting a while. A/C only recently stopped blowing cold, so it probably just needs an inspection and recharge. As I said, I use the sporadically, so it sits for long stretches, though I try to take it out once a month or so.All in all, it's a tough, strong running vehicle. The only reason I'm selling it is due to (hopefully temporary) financial challenges, and if they manage to resolve themselves in a timely manner, I will definitely keep it.
