Show-stopping paint grabs your attention, but it's just as dramatic from behind the wheel thanks to a blown 355 cubic inch small block. If it's attention you crave and you don't like the run-of-the-mill Chevys and Fords, this spectacular Stude has just what you need. Of course the body is fiberglass, a custom creation that loosely replicates the beautiful lines of the 1939 Studebaker but gives them an oh-so-wicked makeover. Finish quality is, as you'd expect, spectacular with glossy black paint that's deep enough to swim in and highlighted by the kind of real flames made famous by Mike Lavallee; the depth and attention to detail is nothing short of amazing. Look closely and you'll also see skulls blended into the flames, which is a testament to the artist's skills. Panel fit is quite good, the doors fit well, and the bed is perfectly proportioned to give it a great stance without looking like it was chopped off short. The grille is dramatic and it's absolutely impossible to miss the blower sticking out of the engine bay like that, so it's a good thing that this thing runs as great as it looks. A power-actuated bed cover transforms the cargo bay into a weatherproof trunk and neat details like the frenched taillights and license frame give it a custom look from any angle. The interior is every bit as dramatic, with custom stitched upholstery on every available surface. The buckets are comfortable and stylish, the traditional-looking pleated door panels suit the truck's old-fashioned look, and a beautifully sculpted dashboard ties it all together. Of course, everything is standard equipment here, including power windows, a tilt steering column, and A/C, making this a rod you could drive cross-country without complaints. It's all in wonderful condition with only minor signs of use and the coordination of finishes and colors is quite attractive. The steering wheel is a vintage piece that's been dressed to match and you have a full array of Auto Meter gauges, including three auxiliary dials up in their own pods on top of the dash. Cool, right? There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds great in the well-insulated cab and a custom center console to house the very, very cool electronic shifter. Take a look! Plenty of power is on tap courtesy of a 355 cubic inch Chevy V8 with a 6-71 Littlefield blower, all put together by the guys at Big Al's Toy Box. Hanging out in the open like that, you get tons of chrome and polished aluminum, but up close you'll find that service access is quite good and the hardware is designed to be functional first and foremost. A pair of big Edelbrock carburetors feed the boosted small block and it sounds harmonious thanks to a custom-built Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The chassis is a Chevy S-10 pickup, so you get modern steering and brakes, with a modified rear suspension that consists of ladder bards and coil-overs. A tough TH400 3-speed automatic shrugs off the blown engine's power and feeds a custom-narrowed Ford 9-inch with disc brakes on both ends. Oversized rolling stock gives it that wicked stance, with those giant Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires out back planting the power without effort. Beautifully built and seriously fast, this Studebaker should pretty much wreck the curve for every other vintage pickup you're looking at. Think outside the box and give us a call today! 1939 Studebaker Pickup for Sale 1939 Studebaker Pickup for Sale Stock # 2577-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. It's a pure phantom, a figment of the designer's imagination, but it's so incredibly unusual that people will completely overlook the fact that it never really existed in the first place. You want cool? This is the rolling definition of it. It's the grille that defines any pre-war vehicle, and Studebaker fans will see where this truck gets its DNA. Sure, it's highly stylized and dramatically stretched to an extreme, but there's no arguing that it doesn't look flat-out amazing. The bright blue paint job neatly blends old and new, just as the rest of the body seems to bridge the years without seeming too modern or too dated. Subtle lighter blue ghost flames lick across the pointed prow, which is surely one of the most amazing things we've seen in years. It's all fiberglass, of course, and shows good finish work under the skin so that each panel flows into the next without any jarring lines or separations. It's probably not cut out for show wins any longer, but if you want to make an impact at the local cruise night and have a blast getting there, well, this is an outstanding choice. The crew cab body style makes it practical and the finished oak bed has an old-school look that suggests this thing could, indeed, still work as a pickup truck. Those extra few inches of space provided by the crew cab configuration pay big dividends inside where there's lots of room to get comfortable. Supportive white leather bucket seats with cloth inserts have a futuristic look that seems to work well with the swoopy bodywork and they show only modest wear and evidence of use. The entire dash was custom sculpted to match the body with twin cockpits a long center console between the seats. White-faced gauges from Dolphin monitor the vitals and look great doing it and the truck includes such features as air conditioning, a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows, and a remote entry system. You'll note the headliner continues the flame theme and there's a very handy storage compartment behind the seats for enclosed, secure, weatherproof storage for your gear. Obviously, this truck was built for long-distance cruising. The engine is a recent 350 cubic inch Chevrolet crate motor whose primary mission is reliable, dependable horsepower. Tilt the entire front end forward and you have unparalleled access for service and the packaging is tidy. Standard horsepower builders like a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb and intake, long-tube headers, and a slightly lumpy camshaft all help with hot rod street cred, but there's nothing here that will be an obstacle to driving this truck just about anywhere. A TH350 3-speed automatic and 10-bolt rear end are additional links in that chain, and the street-friendly suspension means that you can drive this truck without feeling like it's beating you up. A custom dual exhaust system sounds right for the outrageous hauler and with power steering and disc brakes, it'll handle rush hour traffic without getting cranky. Beautiful chrome wheels with fat blackwall radials give it the right hunkered-down look without killing ride quality. Nicely sorted and with only 4944 miles since the rebuild, this is a dramatic truck that makes a big statement everywhere you go. The fact that it's also an awesome driver is almost beside the point. 1962 Studebaker Champ Short Box Pick Up - 259ci V8 - Very Rare and Desirable!! Believed to be Original Service Truck For Lions Drag Strip!!! Here is a very unique and rare 1962 Studebaker Champ short box pickup. This truck is believed one of the original service trucks for the world famous Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington, CA. The track was very well known, open from 1955 to 1972. This is a rare truck as it was a limited production truck only built for 4 years and is one of only 7,000 built in '62. It is a nice blue plate California / Arizona truck with a super straight body. The truck is very nicely restored and was done a few years ago. It is very nicely equipped with the original 259ci V8, 4-speed manual trans and short box bed. This truck is very clean and all correct!! The truck is in what I would call it's original condition with just the right amount of patina. I do not have any documentation proving it was one of the actual service trucks for Lions drag strip. Everyone has different opinions. Some people from Southern California do remember seeing the truck at the track in the 60's and some people say it's a tribute truck. I just don't know or have proof. The truck its self points to being the real deal and the painted lettering is very old and has been on the truck for many decades. Also it has a very large 50 plus gallon fuel tank, which would make sense to have at a race track. Lastly the bed in the truck is not all beat up as it would for an all out work truck. It's loaded with the following equipment: 259ci V8Engine4-Speed Manual TransmissionShort Box BedVery Large Custom Fuel TankDual ExhaustThe List goes on and on............. This truck looks to have had one repaint decades ago and is showing its age but on the positive it has the patina look everyone is paying to have done. The chrome on the bumpers are original and have patina. The grille is original and in good shape. All the glass in excellent shape. The body is very straight. It is a very good looking truck. It has its original wheels and old vintage bias ply tires. The interior is in excellent condition with redone seats and door panels. The dash is very clean and has its correct steering wheel. The gauge cluster is original and all the gauges work. Mechanically, the engine runs very nicely and it is a pleasure to drive. The original 259ci engine runs great. All and all, this is a very unique and rare truck. That makes a great conversation piece. It is perfect to use, put in your collection or racing museum. If you have any additional questions please Call Jimmy at 608-215-8300 from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. PST with any questions you might have and I can help with shipping quotes and arrangements. I also welcome all International bidders! All inspections must be done before the auction ends on my cars!! The car is located in beautiful sunny Scottsdale, AZ. Good luck in the bidding! However, it is very important to keep in mind that these vehicles are pre-owned, not brand new. It is rare to find a vehicle of this vintage that truly could be used as a daily driver. Mechanically it is very solid. The exterior is believed to be 100% original. Interior is the same with the exception of the carpet, seat upholstery, and seat belts. Would be an excellent candidate for restoration but we think the patina gives this car character and charm. We really like the way this car drives. Feels more refined and solid than other cars of the era. Studebaker put a lot of attention into the details. The car starts easily every time and runs smooth and quiet. Gears shift smoothly & easily with positive feel. “Automatic Hill-Holder” makes stopping and starting on an incline an easy task. Factory overdrive engages simply by momentarily releasing the accelerator at or above approximately 31 mph. A less common feature that allows for the highway speeds of today. All gauges work. Odometer works. Horn Works. Turn signals and vacuum wipers operate correctly. Studebaker was quality to start with and it shows in the fit and finish. Everything is smartly appointed and solid. The doors latch firmly, the lights, switches and instruments work as they should. A light above the ignition illuminates when the door opens to guide your key at night. Our consignor took ownership in February of 2009. Since then she has serviced the vehicle to ensure the drive-ability and enjoyment of her Studebaker. These services include a new clutch kit, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt fuel pump, cylinder head resurfaced and magnafluxed, starter assembly, exhaust manifold gasket, overhauled vacuum wiper assembly. The vehicle comes with receipts to show this work and work done by the previous owners.Presented for sale by: Cascadia Motors located at 17033 SE McLoughlin Blvd. Portland OR 97267. For sale is a 1947 Studebaker M5 Pickup Truck located in our Indianapolis showroom. The Studebaker was founded back in 1852 in South Bend, Indiana and originally was a producer of wagons and later on moving to automobiles. Studebaker started producing the famous M5 series pickup trucks in 1941 and the M5 being designated as the 1/2 ton pickups. This beautifully customized 1947 M5 Studebaker is sure to draw attention out on the street and at the car shows too. This 1947 Studebaker M5 Pickup Truck is powered by a 350 CID Chevrolet V8 engine, backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, running to a 12 bolt rear end. Options on this 1947 Studebaker M5 Pickup Truck include: AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Aluminum Alloy Wheels, and Radial Tires. Under the hood sits a small block Chevrolet 350 V8 outfitted with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and 4-barrel carburetor, chrome pulleys and alternator, chrome master cylinder and brake booster, chrome valve covers and air cleaner, along with a 4 core radiator. The body of this Studebaker has been tastefully customized and will set you apart from other Studebaker trucks out there. The look of the front end of the truck was changed with the removal of the bumper along with metal being placed in over a portion of the factory grill area giving the front end a sleek and smooth appearance. Out back a 1954 Chevrolet truck bed was added and mated with Studebaker rear fenders that were reworked to match the shape and lines of the front bumpers. The \'54 Chevy truck bed was further customized with a nice addition of wood slats giving it a clean and classic appearance. The body was then channeled and set on top of a Nova frame and suspension which gives this truck a much better ride and handling capabilities. The interior has been redone with beautiful high end vinyl coverings that look and feel like leather along with Mercedes wool carpeting that together give this truck a luxurious feel. If you are looking for a classic truck but want something different than a Ford or Chevy, this 1947 Studebaker M5 Pickup Truck is calling your name. For sale is a very well restored beautiful turquoise colored 1952 Studebaker Commander. It has the original 232 cubic inch V8 engine that has been rebuilt. It has the original 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. The odometer shows 68500 miles on it, whether this is 68500 miles or 168500 miles is unknown. It was restored by my father who did most of the work except for engine overhaul and painting of the car. He also did most of the upholstery work. The re-chroming of parts that needed it were sent off to be restored. It was a body off frame restoration. My father passed away two years ago and I am selling the Studebaker for my mother. My father used to work at Studebaker back in the 1950s and he always liked the cars. Many years later when the chance arose for him to purchase one to restore he jumped at the chance. The restoration was completed in 1998 or 1999, since then it has not been driven much. Some occasional parades and short trips in town. It runs well and the transmission shifts through all the gears plus it does go into overdrive. However sometimes the engine will die when driving down the road, it rarely occurs. I haven't been able to determine why. I rule out vapor lock because it will do this whether the weather is hot or cold. When it does die I spray some starting fluid in the air cleaner and the engine will start right up and run fine. Some Studebaker enthusiasts say the problem could be with today's gas. I have been told a gasoline additive could help. The original AM radio works, it was rebuilt by an electrical engineer. All the gauges work except possibly the temperature gauge. The car has a battery drain problem when it is not driven. The battery stays fully charged when driven. When the car is not in use I disconnect the battery to make sure the battery does not lose charge. I haven't been able to determine what drains the battery when the car is not in use. It is still a 6 volt system with the original generator that was rebuilt. The paint does have some bubbles in a few places, these places are not very bad now and do not detract from the overall view of the car. There is a small bubble at the nose of the hood. There are maybe two or three more places on the car. The paint color is not the original color. My father said it was some ugly green color and he was not going to go with that again. It is an eye catcher as it travels down the road. Winning buyer pays $750 deposit within 48 hours of auction close via PayPal. The final full payment is must be within 7 days of auction close and payment with cash, money order, or cashiers check is accepted. The winning buyer must come pickup the car or arrange shipping on their own.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE THE DOWNFALL AND EVENTUAL DEMISE OF THE STUDEBAKER COMPANY IS WELL KNOWN IN CAR ENTHUSIAST CIRCLES. IT IS ONE OF THE SADDEST STORIES IN AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY. ONE OF THE PIONEERING AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES IN THE COUNTRY, STUDEBAKER ESTABLISHED AN ENVIABLE REPUTATION FOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY. HOWEVER, VICIOUS COMPETITION FROM THE LARGER FORD AND CHEVROLET, CORPORATE MISMANAGEMENT AND POOR DECISIONS, BAD MERGERS, AND LACK OF FUNDS DETERMINED THE FINAL FATE OF THE COMPANY. THE LAST STUDEBAKER ROLLED OFF THE CANADIAN ASSEMBLY LINE ON MARCH 16,1966. THE BAD NEWS FOR STUDEBAKER WAS GOOD NEWS FOR AUTO ENTHUSIASTS AND COLLECTORS WORLDWIDE. DUE TO QUALITY OF BUILD, LOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS, AND POPULAR STYLING, CLASSIC STUDEBAKERS HAVE BECOME SOME OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER COLLECTOR VEHICLES IN THE MARKET. ONE OF THE OFTEN OVERLOOKED MODEL LINES WERE THE STUDEBAKER TRUCKS. WITH STATE OF THE ART DESIGN, UNIQUE LOOK, AND MECHANICAL DEPENDABILITY, THE STUDEBAKER TRUCK HAS BECOME A VERY DESIRABLE CLASSIC VEHICLE. Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1902 with electric vehicles and in 1904 with gasoline vehicles, all sold under the name "Studebaker Automobile Company". Over the next 50 years, the company established an enviable reputation for quality and reliability. However, years of trouble followed. Studebaker's strong post-war management team including president Paul Hoffman and Roy Cole (vice-president, engineering) had gone by 1949 and was replaced by more cautious executives who failed to meet the competitive challenge brought on by Ford and Chevrolet. The conservative executives became obsessed with short term goals instead of long term prosperity. Massive discounting in a price war between Ford and General Motors could not be equalled by the independent carmaker, for whom the only hope was a disastrous merger of Studebaker, Packard, Hudson, and Nash into a third giant combine. By 1954, Studebaker was already in the red ink. They struggled for over a decade before the end came. One of the success stories, and also victims, in this drama was the Studebaker truck line. Noted Studebaker historian Fred Fox stated that the company lost one of its' greatest opportunity when it didn't aggressively enter the commercial truck market after the World Wars. Studebaker had a long standing relationship with businesses and farmers, dating back to the horse wagon days. This was the exact demographic that was demanding the pickup truck. Ignoring this proved fatal. The Studebaker Champ was the light duty truck that was manufactured from 1960-1964. The truck line hadn't undergone a significant redesign in over 10 years. Although they had to use many existing components due to cost constraints, the end result was impressive. The chassis and cargo box were very similar to the existing design. However, designers devised a creative plan to utilize the Lark sedan body as the cab section. The engineering staff took a four-door sedan, cut it in half behind the front doors and modified the front half slightly to fit the truck chassis. The only new sheet metal stamping that was required was the back wall of the new cab. With a cab based on a sedan body, the Champ was among the first pickups to offer true "car-like" comfort, with a wide, comfortable bench seat and a handsomely-styled interior. Other manufacturers took until the late 1960s and early 1970s to follow the Champ's lead. The Champ also was the first to offer state of the art options such as sliding rear window and fiberglass body and bed components. The Champ also pointed the way to a smaller yet still rugged pickup, something Dodge later claimed as a "first" with their mid-sized Dakota, which was introduced as a 1987 model, nearly 27 years after the Champ. By December 1963, Studebaker's board of directors announced the closure of its' South Bend factory, and the trucks were among the casualties of the company's consolidation around an abbreviated family-car lineup in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant. When they purchased the rights and tooling to the Studebaker Avanti in 1964, Nate Altman and Leo Newman also acquired the rights and tooling to Studebaker's trucks. However, Altman and Newman, for reasons which are lost to history, never built as much as a single truck. The opportunity to continue to manufacture a vehicle that was ahead of its' time was lost. The result is the existence of a very limited number of quality built, highly demanded Studebaker pickup trucks. Today, the Champs that still exist are highly prized for their interesting combination of passenger-car comfort and style and their rugged mechanical durability The example in this ad is one of them. don't miss this opportunity. There is a simple reason why there are very few of these trucks still on the road today. The majority of these have rusted away and were hauled to the junk yard. Although not still show condition, still can be rated as a nice driver quality example. Refinished many years ago in the original Apache Red. White trim on bumpers, grille, and headlight rims. White body accent stripes. White Studebaker logo on tail gate. Paint is good driver quality. There are some driving blemishes and some areas of minor bubbling, and a few minor repairs, however the paint has a glossy shine and shows well. View the Photo Bucket file to verify paint condition. Body and bed are solid and in overall very good condition for the age of the truck. Dual chrome mirrors. Bed rails. Finished oak bed flooring with deep grain in the wood. White wall radial tires. P215/75R15. Factory wheels with Studebaker hub caps. All glass is in very good condition. Champ emblems on the doors. Many pictures are loading, please be patient. Don't hesitate to call or email if you have any questions! 1990 Avanti 4-Door Sedan Only 96,790 Actual Miles! Automatic Transmission 302 V8 Engine! Only 89 Ever Produced! A wonderful opportunity! Here is a very rare chance to get one of the rarest sedans ever produced! Up for auction is a 1990 Avanti 4-Door Sedan! Here's a bit on the Avanti Sedan pulled off Google: While Studebaker president Sherwood Egbert had envisioned a four-door sedan based on the Avanti way back in 1963, this 1990 Avanti four-door sedan currently on offer is not the result of Egbert's dream. Instead, it's the product of John J. Cafaro's brief tenure as the head of Avanti in the late 1980s. The Avanti four-door, based on a Chevrolet Caprice chassis, is the only vehicle Avanti Automotive Corp. built in 1990. This version of the car was unveiled at the Greater New York International Automobile Show in March 1989. How many cars can you truly say are rare? This is one of the rarest cars on the planet to own! The car runs and drives nicely. I wouldn't call it a show winner at this point as it has a few quirks pointed out in the photos below. It would need some light cosmetic and mechanical work to be a legitimate show winner. However, with its pure rarity and unique looks it still commands all the attention at any car show it goes to! The car's previous owner lived here in Texas, Houston to be exact. The car belonged in a collector's private collection until the car was damaged in Hurricane Ike in 2008 when the collector's garage flooded from the rain (fresh water, not salt water!!). We acquired it from the insurance company. The damage was relatively light, but we did give it a mini-restoration and went through the entire car and made sure there were no lasting effects from the water exposure. The car was always kept in a rust free environment as the body has no rust at all on it! Due to the insurance history, the car does come with a rebult-salvage Texas title which is the same as a normal clean Texas title except for the notation on the front of the title "rebuilt salvage", "flood damage". If you haven't noticed by now on classic cars like this it's not so much the title history as it is the condition of the car itself. There are plenty of rusted out cars sitting on blocks in fields that have perfectly clean titles, but what are those going to get you besides a headache? Come see this car and you'll be impressed! This may be your last chance to get a car like this. With only 80-90 ever produced you may never see another one on the market! Don't miss your opportunity to own this beautiful car! This car is truly a beautiful Avanti. You will be the envy of other owners at car shows! You will not be disappointed! Don't settle for second best! Get the car you have always dreamed of owning! Don't let this wonderful opportunity pass you by! If you have any questions don't hesitate to give us a call at 571-969-2054 What a rare car! These four door models are few and far between. Some say 80 some say 90 made but in either number it's still incredibly rare! The passenger corner of the front bumper is chipped as you can see. What a unique car! The entire body is made out of fiberglass. The original paint is 24 years old now and does show some light cracks in some places under close inspection. Here on the driver side as you can see. On the bumper. Just look at this beauty! What a find! This car will capture the curiosity of anyone who is nearby! This car has no fenders. It's all one big piece of fiber glass! The body is still very straight! The 24 year old clear coat is failing in a few small places. You can see it here. Even from the rear the car still looks incredible with these unique looks you won't find anywhere else! This car had another logo back here at some point. You can see the holes that were drilled to attach them. This is the real deal! An Avanti! The body is still incredibly straight! The car has held up real nicely for being all original! Just look at these unique lines! Clear coat beginning to fail behind the rear wheel as shown here. The paint still looks great up here! It's 24 years old and isn't perfect but all in all its still nice! A small spot up here as you can see. The hood looks great! Another spot on the passenger side behind the rear door. The rubber trim on all four windows needs to be replaced. It's 24 years old and has dried and broken off in most cases. Not a hard fix. See what i mean? You can see half the rubber then the other half you can look straight into there. Wheels and tires still look great. Tires have plenty of tread but are starting to show some time related age wear. Above one wheel is some light spider webbing of the fiberglass. Clear coat cracking on and next to the mirror. If it wasn't for the clear coat and a few fiberglass cracks the exterior would be near perfect. Trunk still looks great! The carpeting is a little discolored, but all in all it's still nice! Driver's door and trim still look great! Here's your first glimpse into this original 1990 Avanti 4-Door! All original in here. Driver's seat is showing some wear expected for an original car of this age and mileage. Not too bad for 24 years old. This car hasn't been restored in any way! Power seat controls still work great! Passenger side door also looks great! You'll be pleased with all the luxury this car has to offer! They really made something special with this car! Passenger's seat is in even better condition. The leather looks great! Just look at how nice it is! Original Avanti interior! This power seat is also working great! Rear doors still look great! No scuff or kick marks to be found! Rear seat passengers have plenty of room and even have tray tables! What a luxury sedan! The tray tables retract easily! This door is also looking great! You'll be pleased with this car's all original condition! The rear seats were very seldomly sat in! They really have held up well! This car has got it all! Very unique! Rear seat passengers will really enjoy all the comfort! Only 80 of these cars exist. You won't find a rarer car out there! The driver will enjoy all the looks they get while driving! This car is a sight to behold! So will the passenger! A very comfortable ride being surrounded with leather and woodgrain! The interior still looks good. It's held up nicely for being 24 years old! The a/c and radio still work nicely! Transmission shifts great! The woodgrain still looks good. The window motors are showing their age leading to us refraining from operating them. We'd hate to send the window down only to see it not come back up when commanded. All the motors could use a good lubricating/service. Vanity mirrors. I couldn't get the lights on the mirrors to work though. The car did have an auto dimming mirror but it's permanently dimmed now due to its age. The car has had a radar detector installed in a very discreet place here. The headliner still looks great but has come down slightly on the passenger's side a the seam as you can see. Back here still looking nice! We found some promotional material for this car. It's very hard to come by. This car was really rare! Copy of a window sticker! This car had a sticker price of $48,000 in 1990. This isn't from this car but for illustration purposes. All the gauges are still working! Original mileage! The engine still shows nicely and runs very well! What's nice about this rare car is that the parts that made it are anything but rare. This car is on a Chevrolet Caprice chassis! This car can be serviced at Pep Boys or Goodyear! You don't need a special mechanic! This is the real deal! The 302 v8! Plenty of power for this Avanti! Engine is still in great shape! It fires right up! It appears the heater has been bypassed. This is a car you would be proud to call your own! More recently, some enterprising soul took that awesome look and cranked it up to 11, producing this stunning yellow rod that captures the essence of the original while giving it an insane custom look. Yes, it's fiberglass, but does that even matter when it looks this amazing? The grille is a wild take on the original and has a fantastic art-deco vibe that also provides unbeatable engine cooling for the hot V8 behind it. Flush-fitting headlights flow into the rounded fenders and the whole truck has a seamless look that was clearly inspired by the original. PPG Lemon Ice paint practically vibrates off the bodywork, offering an incredible shine and enough brilliant color to be seen half a mile away. Of course, standard hot-rodding tricks like shaved door handles with solenoids, billet mirrors, and slick LED taillights give it a familiar yet unique look and the way the rear fenders wrap around the bed give it a very custom look. And speaking of the one-piece bed, it's filled with lovely dark-stained plants and stainless rub strips, all surrounded by seamless bed sides, almost like a frame for the wood work itself. You can probably still use it as a truck, but it works much better as art. There's exactly zero 1939 Studebaker inside, where a full custom interior has a very modern look. Obviously the twin cockpit look was borrowed from a Corvette, but between the low-back leather buckets and the center console, that's probably not a crazy comparison. Just about everything inside this cab was custom fabricated, including the center console and door panels, all of which are finished like the bodywork. The driver's seat is power-actuated, while switches for the power windows are on the center console, and the A/C is neatly integrated into the center stack. You'll note attractive gauges with "Studebaker" logos on their faces were stuffed into the dash ahead of the driver, along with the controls for the air ride suspension neatly tucked into the side of the console. An AM/FM/CD stereo head unit nestles into the dash as well, giving it a very well-integrated look overall. A tilt column carries a wood-rimmed wheel, there's a giant B&M shifter that seems custom-made for that console, and well-fitted carpets help control noise and heat. For power, it runs a Corvette-spec LT1 350 cubic inch V8. Reliable and powerful, it's a hot-rodder's best friend and offers a well-integrated look with color-matched injector covers and shiny chrome valve covers with Studebaker script. With fuel injection, it starts easily and idles well even when it's cold, and thanks to a 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission, it pulls down decent fuel economy as well. The chassis is actually from an S10 pickup, so it offers power front disc brakes, power steering, and a well-engineered platform that feels very polished on the road, unlike a lot of home-built rods. It's been fully detailed with bright yellow paint to match the bodywork and the custom exhaust even includes a hi-flow catalytic converter, so this sucker is environmentally friendly! The Air Ride suspension gives it just about any stance you like, and sitting on those giant 17-inch billet wheels and fat Nitto radials, it looks fast and nasty. It's almost a guarantee you'll be the only guy with one of these anywhere you go, and with just shakedown miles since it was completed, it's ready to enjoy and compete at any level.
