BODY STYLE : Pickup Truck TRANSMISSION: 4 Speed Automatic EXTERIOR COLOR: ODOMETER READING: 4944 INTERIOR COLOR : VEHICLE FEATURES & OPTIONS Air Conditioning, Anti-Lock Brakes, CD Player, Front Disc Brakes, Heat, Leather Seats, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Seatbelts-Front SELLER REMARKS You've never seen anything quite like this 1939 Studebaker extended cab pickup. It's a pure phantom, a figment of the designer's imagination, but it's so incredibly unusual that people will completely overlook the fact that it never really existed in the first place. You want cool? This is the rolling definition of it. It's the grille that defines any pre-war vehicle, and Studebaker fans will see where this truck gets its DNA. Sure, it's highly stylized and dramatically stretched to an extreme, but there's no arguing that it doesn't look flat-out amazing. The bright blue paint job neatly blends old and new, just as the rest of the body seems to bridge the years without seeming too modern or too dated. Subtle lighter blue ghost flames lick across the pointed prow, which is surely one of the most amazing things we've seen in years. It's all fiberglass, of course, and shows good finish work under the skin so that each panel flows into the next without any jarring lines or separations. It's probably not cut out for show wins any longer, but if you want to make an impact at the local cruise night and have a blast getting there, well, this is an outstanding choice. The crew cab body style makes it practical and the finished oak bed has an old-school look that suggests this thing could, indeed, still work as a pickup truck. Those extra few inches of space provided by the crew cab configuration pay big dividends inside where there's lots of room to get comfortable. Supportive white leather bucket seats with cloth inserts have a futuristic look that seems to work well with the swoopy bodywork and they show only modest wear and evidence of use. The entire dash was custom sculpted to match the body with twin cockpits a long center console between the seats. White-faced gauges from Dolphin monitor the vitals and look great doing it and the truck includes such features as air conditioning, a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows, and a remote entry system. You'll note the headliner continues the flame theme and there's a very handy storage compartment behind the seats for enclosed, secure, weatherproof storage for your gear. Obviously, this truck was built for long-distance cruising. The engine is a recent 350 cubic inch Chevrolet crate motor whose primary mission is reliable, dependable horsepower. Tilt the entire front end forward and you have unparalleled access for service and the packaging is tidy. Standard horsepower builders like a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb and intake, long-tube headers, and a slightly lumpy camshaft all help with hot rod street cred, but there's nothing here that will be an obstacle to driving this truck just about anywhere. A TH350 3-speed automatic and 10-bolt rear end are additional links in that chain, and the street-friendly suspension means that you can drive this truck without feeling like it's beating you up. A custom dual exhaust system sounds right for the outrageous hauler and with power steering and disc brakes, it'll handle rush hour traffic without getting cranky. Beautiful chrome wheels with fat blackwall radials give it the right hunkered-down look without killing ride quality. Nicely sorted and with only 4944 miles since the rebuild, this is a dramatic truck that makes a big statement everywhere you go. The fact that it's also an awesome driver is almost beside the point. Show-stopping paint grabs your attention, but it's just as dramatic from behind the wheel thanks to a blown 355 cubic inch small block. If it's attention you crave and you don't like the run-of-the-mill Chevys and Fords, this spectacular Stude has just what you need. Of course the body is fiberglass, a custom creation that loosely replicates the beautiful lines of the 1939 Studebaker but gives them an oh-so-wicked makeover. Finish quality is, as you'd expect, spectacular with glossy black paint that's deep enough to swim in and highlighted by the kind of real flames made famous by Mike Lavallee; the depth and attention to detail is nothing short of amazing. Look closely and you'll also see skulls blended into the flames, which is a testament to the artist's skills. Panel fit is quite good, the doors fit well, and the bed is perfectly proportioned to give it a great stance without looking like it was chopped off short. The grille is dramatic and it's absolutely impossible to miss the blower sticking out of the engine bay like that, so it's a good thing that this thing runs as great as it looks. A power-actuated bed cover transforms the cargo bay into a weatherproof trunk and neat details like the frenched taillights and license frame give it a custom look from any angle. The interior is every bit as dramatic, with custom stitched upholstery on every available surface. The buckets are comfortable and stylish, the traditional-looking pleated door panels suit the truck's old-fashioned look, and a beautifully sculpted dashboard ties it all together. Of course, everything is standard equipment here, including power windows, a tilt steering column, and A/C, making this a rod you could drive cross-country without complaints. It's all in wonderful condition with only minor signs of use and the coordination of finishes and colors is quite attractive. The steering wheel is a vintage piece that's been dressed to match and you have a full array of Auto Meter gauges, including three auxiliary dials up in their own pods on top of the dash. Cool, right? There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds great in the well-insulated cab and a custom center console to house the very, very cool electronic shifter. Take a look! Plenty of power is on tap courtesy of a 355 cubic inch Chevy V8 with a 6-71 Littlefield blower, all put together by the guys at Big Al's Toy Box. Hanging out in the open like that, you get tons of chrome and polished aluminum, but up close you'll find that service access is quite good and the hardware is designed to be functional first and foremost. A pair of big Edelbrock carburetors feed the boosted small block and it sounds harmonious thanks to a custom-built Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The chassis is a Chevy S-10 pickup, so you get modern steering and brakes, with a modified rear suspension that consists of ladder bards and coil-overs. A tough TH400 3-speed automatic shrugs off the blown engine's power and feeds a custom-narrowed Ford 9-inch with disc brakes on both ends. Oversized rolling stock gives it that wicked stance, with those giant Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires out back planting the power without effort. Beautifully built and seriously fast, this Studebaker should pretty much wreck the curve for every other vintage pickup you're looking at. Think outside the box and give us a call today! 1939 Studebaker Pickup for Sale 1939 Studebaker Pickup for Sale Stock # 2577-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. And by "a little different," I mean a Studebaker like this 1925 Studebaker sedan. It's got all the familiar upgrades, so it's a pleasure to drive, but nobody else will have anything like it and if you're tired of cookie-cutter fiberglass rods, this is an awesome alternative. This big Stude is imposing from any angle, combining the upright formality of a '20s sedan with the muscular look of a modern rod. It was built quite a while ago but recently freshened, so it has the right look and plenty of upgrades to make it a joy to drive. The black paint is appropriate on a big sedan like this, although you'll also find custom touches like the red and gold highlights and even very, very subtle ghost flames on the front end. They were careful to keep all the many details that make these cars unique, from the big grille shell and drum-style headlights to the cowl lamps to the rear-mounted trunk, all of which look pretty good with the other mods such as the semi-flush taillights and big driving lights up front. Yes, it's got a few signs of use, but we can guarantee that nothing else you can buy (especially at this price) will attract anywhere near as much attention. And it's still practical, too! The interior is totally custom, with alligator and ostrich hides on the bench seats and door panels. On the other hand, the wooden window garnish moldings are pure 1920s, as is the massive wooden steering wheel that still sits on the original steering column. Upgrades are many, including A/C, an AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo radio in an overhead console, and a pair of Auto Meter gauges in the center of the dash. The rear seat offers massive stretch-out room and still uses original window cranks and door hardware for a vintage look, and you'll note that even the windows have been pinstriped. None of this work could have been cheap and everything remains in good condition overall, meaning you can get in and head out on the road without any worries. The engine is a recent 350 cubic inch crate motor installed about eight years and 10,000 miles ago. It's considerably more powerful than the Stude's original inline-six and pushes the big box through the air with ease. It's pure function under the hood, with the accessories tucked in tight to the block, headers wrapped in protective heat wrap, and a 4-barrel carburetor up top. There's a big radiator up front and with all that frontal area, keeping things cool is effortless. The front suspension was borrowed from an '80s Malibu, and includes power steering and front disc brakes and there's a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission that makes this a great highway flyer. Out back, the rear end from a Blazer sits on gigantic leaf springs and there's even a heavy-duty hitch if you need some extra carrying capacity; the Stude's heavy-duty frame won't mind. The dual exhaust has a nice burble and the red steel wheels with trim rings and hubcaps look just right, even wrapped in fat BFG rubber. After spending a majority of its life on a cattle farm, this Studebaker got a new lease on life and is ready to make you the star of any show. It's also a lot of fun to drive and makes a very practical rod. Take one low-key 1966 Studebaker Commander 2-door sedan, add 383 cubic inches of blown Chevy stroker motor, a 5-speed, and a suspension to hook it up, then dress it up in show-quality paint. If you want attention, this nasty Stude delivers in a big way. The color is Pewter Gray from the GMC truck color pallet but it sure works well on the angular Studebaker. Small cars were pretty popular in the '60s, and the Commander looks awesome now that's been given a steroid injection. There are still signs of Raymond Loewy's vision in the dramatically sculpted fenders and the modern paint seems to make them even more prominent as the light plays across the surface. Someone spent a ton of cash on the bodywork, getting everything very straight and giving the paint a fantastic shine, and as a former economy car, the gaps are probably better than new. The front bumper was molded into the body and the simple, clean front end will have onlookers puzzling over its identity at shows. The big engine hanging out of the hood isn't much for keeping a low profile, but the car practically demands attention everywhere it goes, such is the quality of the work. Someone has thoughtfully added "1966 STUDEBAKER" decal on the windshield, which will surely cut down on questions at the shows and there's a cool Hurst badge on the tail that's a cool period addition. The interior is not as hardcore as the bodywork would have you believe, offering beautiful modern buckets with 5-point harnesses, plush carpets, and full interior trim. The wood-rimmed steering wheel warms things up a bit and a few flashes of red on the pedals and center console are a nice contrast to the otherwise monochromatic interior. The original instrument panel has been augmented with a big Auto Meter tach in the center and some auxiliary gauges under the dash, and the steering column is now a tilt unit that makes it easy to get comfortable. This cruiser also includes a neat under-dash A/C unit that blows nice and cold as well as a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that sounds great thanks to lots of sound-deadening materials inside the body. The trunk is still useful, although the mini tubs, fuel cell, and battery take up some of the space, but you can see how beautifully finished it all is. That big 383 is based on a 4-bolt main block stuffed with an Eagle rotating assembly with H-beam rods. Special blower pistons and a roller cam were selected to work with the BDS 8-71 supercharger and two Holley double-pumpers. RHS cylinder heads handle the force-fed mixture and an MSD ignition system lights it up. It's a tight fit in the Stude's little engine bay, but workmanship is outstanding, with custom side panels and a smooth firewall and lots of attention to detail. There's a big aluminum radiator up front that keeps it cool even with the A/C running and you're really going to dig how the headers snake out through the sheetmetal inner fenders. A Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission sends all that supercharged horsepower back to a custom 9-inch Ford with 3.70 gears inside, so it's quick but easy-going on the highway. The chassis has been extensively modified and upgraded with rack-and-pinion steering, ladder bars, and 4-wheel disc brakes, plus a custom Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds wicked. Traditional Torque Thrust wheels are probably a low-key choice and they look awesome wrapped in big-n-little 205/75/15 radials up front and 29.5x12.5-15 Hoosier meats in back. Beautifully built, insanely fast, and rare enough to attract attention without being obnoxious, this cool Studebaker couldn't be duplicated for twice the asking price. Sure, the supercharged versions were fun, but this 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk hardtop now features a stout small block Chevy V8 and all the modern conveniences, without losing its stunning good looks. That's a win-win if you ask us! The Golden Hawk must have been something when it hit the streets in the early 1950s. Where everything else was conservative and staid, the Stude was sleek, low, and beautifully proportioned. It wasn't a sports car, of course, but an early grand touring coupe, making it perfect for a makeover. This one shows excellent bodywork wrapped in a lovely pearl white paint job that's both flashy and sophisticated, perfect for the Hawk's shape. Fit and finish are good all around, and despite a few signs of use and age, it still cuts a dashing profile and draws attention wherever it goes. Chrome and stainless trim is a big part of any '50s car's appeal, and this Studebaker is no exception, offering lots of the bright stuff to really make the details stand out. The grille was similar to other Studebaker products, the subtle hood scoop added a sporty attitude, and the cool little parking lights atop the front fenders are just plain awesome. Then there's the little kick-up behind the doors, the perfect transition into the modest tail fins, and it's finished with "Golden Hawk" script on the trunk lid, just in case you didn't know what it was. The handsome interior has been thoroughly updated, giving it a clean, modern look without losing the spirit of the original design. Bucket seats flank a custom center console, and the original dash has been extensively reworked. A tilt column with a beautiful wood-rimmed steering wheel is elegant and comfortable and the original gauges are replaced with white-faced VDO dials. Amenities like an under-dash A/C unit, cup holders, and a great-sounding AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo are all part of the package. The A/C blows cold, so this is the kind of car you can take on a long-distance haul with ease, and everything inside the car is nicely finished and showing only minimal wear, so it's sure to get its share of complements at shows. The rear seat appears to be original and is strictly for two passengers, and the trunk is definitely big enough for all your gear on a road trip. A reliable 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 replaces the original 289, and it likely makes roughly twice the horsepower as the factory mill. It's a clean installation, with much of the wiring tucked neatly out of sight and a lot of color-matched components. There are also some polished aluminum details and upgrades like power steering and power front disc brakes make it feel quite contemporary on the road. The front suspension is a modern Mustang II setup with rack-and-pinion steering, while the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeds that might be the stock Studebaker rear end that still hangs on original leaf springs. A muted dual exhaust gives the clean coupe just the right sound and it sits easily on those polished Billet Specialties aluminum wheels with 215/65/15 blackwall radials. Studebakers aren't for everyone, but it's easy to fall for a car that looks this good and runs this well. Maybe go off the beaten track for a while and see what Studebaker's best effort can do. Studebaker only made the bullet nose models for 2 years. This is the Business Coupe mode 10G-Q4 of which only 2421 were produced. Of that group, only one was made with a V8. No one knows what happened to it, so I built my own. I took the photo from the Salesman's Brochure for my reference model. This is not a stock color that was offered that year, but the advertisers choose a powder blue for the manual. My goal was to put a Studebaker 289 V8 motor in place of the inline 6, add front disc breaks, new Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, and convert to 12 volts so I could add A/C for cruising hot August nights. This is basically a new car now and over restored for sure. The engine, tranny and rear have all been rebuilt. This model has an electric overdrive and will cruise at 68mph running 3000rpm and purr like a kitten, no strain at all. All new shocks and front springs and tires on it. This is not a hot rod but a cruiser. New rubber all around, new headliner and interior, with tinted glass. This is a nut and bolt restoration on which I have spent thousands of hours with attention to the fine details in the restoration. It has been over 10 years since the project was completed and everything is still like new. Paint, chrome, body work, glass, all still look brand new. She has only 4,000 miles on the new motor and driveline. (32,120 miles on body) Has always been garaged and only wet 3 times (caught in rain twice and washed once). The sale comes with many extra parts and a full set of manuals. A CD containing over 3000 photos of the project in all phases comes to document the work. All receipts and conversion notes as well. I have enjoyed the car but now I want something new to work on so I need to find a new home for her. This is a turnkey show car unlike anything you will ever see A unique car and piece of automotive art. A car truly ahead of its time. The Engine and Drive Line I was able to find a fairly fresh 1964 Studebaker 289 bored 80 over. The engine was mic-ed out and rebuilt replacing all underspec parts with new ones. New rod bearing, rings, valves, valve guides. Both heads were sent out and rebuilt. I have driven it only 4,000k miles and it is strong and tight. The stock carburetor was replaced by an Edelbrock 1404 carburetor. The engine is bolted up to a tranny from a 1959 Studebaker truck with a 3-speed on the tree, and electric overdrive. The original 2 piece driveline was modified to fit the new engine and tranny. The rear end is from a 1964 Lark and is a Dana 44 with a 3.31 ratio. Suspension and Breaks I replaced the front drum breaks with a conversion package from Jim Turner which uses off the shelf OEM disks and rotors .The old Champion springs were replaced with new HD coils to support the extra weight of the V8. All the bushings in the upper and lower a-arm's replaced by Studebakers West. New shocks and sway bar bushings were installed to complete the restoration. The steering was left stock wheels were replaced with new steel rims in 15x6 format Wide white wall radials size P205/75-R15, on both front and rear were mounted Body Prep and Paint I went with a basecoat/clearcoat combination, using the DuPont ChromaBase system for my trim and exterior paint solution. All the panels were stripped down to bare metal, treated with acid, cleaned and coated with either POR15 or Everclear Epoxy Primer 2K. Two coats of color and 3 coats of clear were applied then color sanding and final buffing. Cooling and insulation This car was built to be a Florida vehicle so I removed all the old heater support and even plugged the hot water outlets on the water manifold. Vintage Air came out with a bracket for the Studbaker V8 and it went on without any issues. I ordered the smallest evaporator unit I could find, due to the small dash area in these cars. Southern Rods Econo-Kooler with A/C only had the best solution. The dash is only 8" deep and I could not get the AC unit to fit so it was exchanged for the under dash unit. I had to modify the dash to accept the 16.25" faceplate of the AC unit. I ended up cutting out the cigarette lighter and ash tray area to make it. I'll end up losing the glove compartment when the chrome dash trim is mounted. The A/C passenger vent will interfere with it opening. It was a pretty anemic glove box anyway. The windows were tinted professionally and baked on when the glass was out of the car. Ten years later it has no lamination or peeling. I did scratch the drivers side window in assembly. The entire cab is lined in a thermal blanket to keep heat out. All new rubber was used in the project so the cab is pretty air tight. The AC blows cold and hard. Electrical Gauges & Wiring The stock 1951 model was 6volt positive ground. I converted to 12 volt negative ground to support the AC unit. All wiring was replaced with plastic modern wire in the proper gauge. A Painless Universal Fuse Box was installed and I built a custom wire harness for it. All connections were crimped, soldered and heat shrinked. Great pain was taken in hiding the wires and the battery was relocated to the trunk. The gauges were changed to 12 volts. The gas gauge was replaced with a 12 volt unit and the faceplate of the 6V was used to keep the dash stock. The gas gauge is not accurate, I think it's the sending unit is a different resistance than the gauge expects. Other than that, all other electricals work. The car has only been wet twice and washed once. It has been kept in a garage all it's life. In the winter it goes up on jacks stands and I run the engine every month until warm to keep the gaskets fresh. What does not work? The 12 volt gas gauge is not accurate. There is a small leak in the front windshield passenger side. The new Edelbrock 1404 carburetor can get starved out under high acceleration and get air in the line. I have checked the line for leaks and found none. The fuel pump is the standard mechanical one correct for the Studebaker 289. The fix is to pressurize the fuel tank to prime the fuel pump and it starts back up. I carry a tire pressure reserve tank behind the seat for this. Now I don't lead foot it off the line anymore and it has not failed under normal driving conditions in the last 6 years. An electric fuel pump will solve this. ** NO TRADES! We do not assume responsibility for these items. We do not assume responsibility for eBays VIN Decoder. It is the sole responsibility of the bidding party to confirm any description, option, or feature to their satisfaction before submitting a bid. ****We have been getting a lot of questions regarding our auction format so we wanted to take a moment to explain it to those who are new to ebay motors. The "buy it now or best offer" auction format is beneficial to the buyer and the seller because there is no reason to wait until the last minute to bid on a car. As with most dealers, we select certain vehicles from our inventory and put them ebay. We do not have a lot of employees or a fancy showroom; therefore we can pass the savings to you and offer some of the best prices anywhere. So send us an offer now and we will either accept it, counter it, or decline it. If we counter the offer, you are welcome to accept it or counter back, this process proceeds until the car is sold. Our acceptance is binding so please have your financing ready if you would like to purchase a car. Non-Paying Bidders cost us a great deal of time and money and we employ all recourse that ebay provides to complete a sale. We do accept trade ins but will need to see the vehicle to evaluate it. Please remember this auction will likely NOT last the full duration. As soon as we get an acceptable offer the car will be sold. Using Buy it Now ends the auction immediately. DO NOT WAIT - SUBMIT YOUR BEST OFFERS NOW OR USE BUY IT NOW TO ENSURE YOU ARE A WINNER. DUE TO A STRING OF NON-PAYING BIDDERS ALL FOREIGN BIDDERS MUST E-MAIL US FIRST TO BE ALLOWED TO BID**** We are not responsible for incurring fees on auctions if you misread the description or change your mind Location Our Physical Location is 2214 Nottingham Way Mercerville, NJ 08619 Ad created by eCarList.com. Designed as a halo model to attempt to stall Studebaker's inevitable demise, the gorgeous Speedster remains an icon of 1950s design and one heck of a good-looking car. Perhaps most notable about these cars are the color combinations, and none is more stunning than the Hialeah Green and Sun Valley Yellow combination on this one. Fondly referred to as "lemon and lime" for obvious reasons, it is a correct and authentic combination that was a popular choice on these sleek coupes, but only if you love being the center of attention. Refinished a few years ago, this one is more correct than most, using bold shades to create more contrast, but with the right soft green and pastel yellow hues, it allows Raymond Loewy's dramatic coupe's sheetmetal to really stand out. Workmanship is quite good, and although time waits for no man or car, this is likely the best example of these one-year only beauties we've ever seen. Heck, the chrome bill alone for the many unique details was probably half of the asking price. Gaps are tight, the windows (including the irreplaceable rear window) are excellent, and the dramatic side trim is in very good original condition with only a few minor blemishes. The primary difference between the Speedster and its more common cousin, the President, is inside, where this one sports striking quilted yellow leather. The brilliant look is certainly equal to the eyeball appeal of the bodywork, and when it was professionally restored a few years ago by the Stude legends at Slick Street, they took their time and got the details right. Authentic door panels, replacement carpet, a trim headliner, beautiful dash, and those outrageous diamond-tufted seats give you a good idea of what the authentic materials looked like in 1955, and when you slip inside you're instantly transported back in time. And those power windows are from the factory! It really is remarkably well preserved and while there are a few signs of use, it's very presentable. The gauges are crisp and bright, and the original AM radio is still in the dash. The large trunk has recently been fitted with a correct and original mat, and the full-sized spare tire wears a matching cover. Even the engine is the same 259 cubic inch V8 found in the rest of the President lineup. Called the "Passmaster," it generates a respectable 185 horsepower and moves the sleek coupe with a wonderful V8 exhaust note. The engine bay is nicely detailed with a correct air cleaner assembly and matching gold valve covers. The complicated-looking device on the left front fender is the power brake system that help the front discs meet their potential, and it also includes power steering for a truly luxurious experience. Recent wiring, correct finishes, and a brand new burbling dual exhaust system give it a great personality and the reliability you want. The transmission shifts easily and the chassis is clean and solid, again indicative of a nicely preserved car that has always been loved. Gorgeous chrome wire hubcaps were standard on the Speedster and are wrapped in 215/75/15 whitewall radials. All the looks, style, and flash of the '50s in a rare and desirable package. 1962 Studebaker Champ Short Box Pick Up - 259ci V8 - Very Rare and Desirable!! Believed to be Original Service Truck For Lions Drag Strip!!! Here is a very unique and rare 1962 Studebaker Champ short box pickup. This truck is believed one of the original service trucks for the world famous Lions Drag Strip in Wilmington, CA. The track was very well known, open from 1955 to 1972. This is a rare truck as it was a limited production truck only built for 4 years and is one of only 7,000 built in '62. It is a nice blue plate California / Arizona truck with a super straight body. The truck is very nicely restored and was done a few years ago. It is very nicely equipped with the original 259ci V8, 4-speed manual trans and short box bed. This truck is very clean and all correct!! The truck is in what I would call it's original condition with just the right amount of patina. I do not have any documentation proving it was one of the actual service trucks for Lions drag strip. Everyone has different opinions. Some people from Southern California do remember seeing the truck at the track in the 60's and some people say it's a tribute truck. I just don't know or have proof. The truck its self points to being the real deal and the painted lettering is very old and has been on the truck for many decades. Also it has a very large 50 plus gallon fuel tank, which would make sense to have at a race track. Lastly the bed in the truck is not all beat up as it would for an all out work truck. It's loaded with the following equipment: 259ci V8Engine4-Speed Manual TransmissionShort Box BedVery Large Custom Fuel TankDual ExhaustThe List goes on and on............. This truck looks to have had one repaint decades ago and is showing its age but on the positive it has the patina look everyone is paying to have done. The chrome on the bumpers are original and have patina. The grille is original and in good shape. All the glass in excellent shape. The body is very straight. It is a very good looking truck. It has its original wheels and old vintage bias ply tires. The interior is in excellent condition with redone seats and door panels. The dash is very clean and has its correct steering wheel. The gauge cluster is original and all the gauges work. Mechanically, the engine runs very nicely and it is a pleasure to drive. The original 259ci engine runs great. All and all, this is a very unique and rare truck. That makes a great conversation piece. It is perfect to use, put in your collection or racing museum. If you have any additional questions please Call Jimmy at 608-215-8300 from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. PST with any questions you might have and I can help with shipping quotes and arrangements. I also welcome all International bidders! All inspections must be done before the auction ends on my cars!! The car is located in beautiful sunny Scottsdale, AZ. Good luck in the bidding! Wearing fantastic period colors, and a ton of chrome, this cool cruiser is sure to stand out at any car show and provides V8 power to back it up. As far as we can tell, those are the original colors, Tangerine over Snowcap White, and if you're going to own a car from the 1950s, why not get one with the ultimate '50s color combination? Quite honestly, it works rather well with the somewhat conservative-looking bodywork, and with a great soft gloss, it looks exactly right. All four doors fit well and the gaps line up neatly, so someone invested in getting this car back into shape during the restoration. The Stude's many unique details are a big part of its appeal, many of which have been borrowed by customizers for decades; just check out the peaked taillights, the exhaust pipes poking out through the bumper ends, and the hooded headlights. And no discussion of a '50s car is complete without mentioning the chrome and stainless trim, all of which is in good shape and represents a rather sizeable investment all by itself. The interior's mix of colors, textures, and materials looks very period-correct and the wide bench seats are a simple contrast to the high-impact bodywork. Black carpets, two-tone door panels, and a few details painted Tangerine highlight the comfortable interior. The cloth upholstery remains in good condition with only light signs of use and age while the back seat looks almost new. The instrument panel is a very cool design with the speedometer perched up high in its own pod and conventional round auxiliary gauges in the dash below; is this the first heads-up display? The original AM radio remains in the dash and while it doesn't play music, it does power up so perhaps a repair will be easy. Seat belts were added during the restoration, always a welcome safety improvement, but otherwise this Stude remains pretty much as the factory intended. As you'd expect, the trunk is truly massive and offers a correct mat, a full-sized spare on a matching fifth wheel, and even a jack assembly. Studebaker's 289 cubic inch V8 is torquey and smooth in the big President sedan, and while it's not about performance, it moves rather well. The engine bay is very stock, complete with a factory air cleaner assembly, 2-barrel carburetor, and turquoise engine enamel. Little details like the generator, hose clamps, and wiring are factory-spec, lending this Stude a very authentic look under the hood. It starts easily and runs well with a muted V8 soundtrack from the dual exhaust system, and the 2-speed automatic transmission shifts well and generally stays out of the way. Highway-friendly gears in the rear end mean that the President cruises easily at modern speeds without working too hard and the ride is luxury car smooth. 205/70/15 whitewall radials wrapped around color-matched steel wheels and hubcaps add an air of distinction to the big President and complete the '50s look. This car also includes a lot of Studebaker period literature and a factory build sheet, making it a great addition to any Studebaker lover's collection.
