We were extremely fortunate to acquire this Gorgeous 1 owner Volvo 945 Wagon. it appears to have spent it's entire life in a garage, and is rust free!! The paint is bright and shiny, with no damage present. There is some normal wear such as chips and small scratches that you would expect on a 22 year old car! It has a gorgeous tan leather interior with a power drivers seat. With the exception of a small spot on the drivers bolster, the interior is just gorgeous. All power options and accessories are working correctly including the electric sunroof, and original sound system! We have just had this Gorgeous 945 fully serviced and inspected. We have installed new pads and rotors all around. It has a fresh timing belt and new engine drive belts installed, along with 2 new hydraulic motor mounts. The A/C condenser has been replaced with some new lines. The brake fluid has been flushed, and a new valve cover gasket and exhaust manifold gaskets have been installed. The fuel gauge is currently not working. I am told this is quite common on these cars. I can have it repaired for about $400.00. This would be with a new part from Volvo. This is a very solid Volvo 240. I am the second owner. This car has had all major service and maintence done by 2 Excellent Volvo Specialized Independent ASE Volvo Certified Master Tech shops; Hubbard Woods Motors, Winnetka, IL and The Swedish Solution in Orange, OH. I purchased the car from the Owner of Hubbard Woods Motors a specialist in Volvos and working on Volvos only.The car belonged to the Owner's mother and was sold because she was too old to drive. When I purchased the car it had 28,000 miles on the odometer. This car was my daily driver for over 18 years until it became an extra car as I transitioned to another Volvo just out of personal preference for a 940 Turbo wagon with the same red block engine except turbocharged. This car has more low end torque and faster off the line than the 940 Turbo. The engine and transmission are super solid. Always used genuine Volvo parts including Mann factory OEM oil filter. The factory oil filter has a by-pass valve so that the filter is by-passed upon starting until oil pressure is above a certain level. So because of this the engine gets better lubrication on start up when most wear occurs. Used Mobile 1 Synthetic last 9+ years, the previous years ran Valvoline Dura-Blend semi-synthetic oil, Frequent oil changes and maintenance. Red Block Volvo engine is amazing as you know engines last 250K+, This engine burns no oil and delivers 20-24mpg+ highway mileage. Idles smooth and starts VERY reliably. Installed an IPD Massive, Heavy Duty, Alloy Anti-Sway bar designed for the 240 Turbo which gives a profound improvement in handling. This is a very nice well maintained 740 Volvo wagon with the reliable red block B230F engine. These cars easily can go 500+ miles and are some of the safest vehicles on the road. This was my mother's car and when she could no longer drive, she gave it to me. I have had it for about four years and have spared virtually no expense in maintaining it. I have all of my service records as well as my mothers. It is a nonsmoker car and a daily driver. The car needs virtually nothing. Everything works as it should except the passenger heated seat. The AC blows cold and has been converted to the new refrigerant. I changed my own oil, used Volvo or better oil filter, 10-30 Mobil 1; doing this every 5000 miles. The transmission gets serviced every January and works perfectly. The timing belt has been changed on schedule professionally as well as tensioners, water pump etc. It has a K&N airfilter and a top of the line Diehard AGM battery. The cruise control works, rear wiper, and all lights. It tracks well, no drift, shimmey, rattle, or roll. The brakes have plenty of pad life: 50% and the rotors are good. No vibration on stopping. Tires have plenty of tread and are good quality with a good full size spare. Fuel filter has been changed, spark plugs, flame trap cleaned and this beautiful old gal is ready for the road. I would not hesitate to drive this Volvo to California or Maine. It has the usual wear and tear of a daily driver. There are some dings and scratches here and there; but overall it is a well maintained and loved 740. I even replaced the head light lenses and note how clear they are. That is the attention to detail that this car has gotten. I do reserve the right to end the auction early for I am also offering this car for sale locally. I am selling for I do not use the car now enough to justify keeping it and I have too many cars in the stable. I wish I could keep every car I owned; but that is not realistic; let alone expensive. It you want this, then buy it. There is a lot of interest in Volvo wagons because they carry so much and are easy to work on (240/740/940). Don't let this 740 get away. It is one of the nicest! Hopefully I won’t regret doing this, but it’s time to let go of my 1987 Volvo 240 DL station wagon. She runs great, rides awesome, and has always been reliable. Having a 940 B230FT engine swap in conjunction with a 5.0 Mustang T5 transmission and a G80 posi, I’ve had much fun with her throughout my ownership. The white wagon is a daily driver that is modified with both reliability and practicability in mind. Her differential is re-geared to 3.73 ratio for maximum fuel economy. There are many goodies including a 15G turbo, 242GT intercooler, IPD turbo cam, LH2.2 from an ’87 740 with Bosch EZK ECU, 3” turbo-back exhaust, a Hurst Fox body Mustang short flow shifter, 6-puck ceramic spring disk clutch with lightened flywheel, IPD 25mm sway bars front and back, IPD lowering springs, Bilstein struts, polyurethane trailing arm bushings, R-Sport poly motor mounts, IPD upper and lower braces, and firewall braces. This sexy beast is rolling on a set of 16” Hydra with fairly new tires. She also got nice sound that is powered by a Sony deck with Bluetooth capability, a Pioneer amplifier, a Rockford 10” sub-woofer, and upgraded speakers and tweeters. Body is clean and without noticeable blemishes. No body repair work has ever been performed anywhere on the vehicle. Glossy original paint on all body panels are without oxidation. Being a California car all her life, entire undercarriage is absolutely rust free. There are no fluid leaks of any kind and there is no oil-consumption issue. Interior is clean and upholstery is in exceptional shape, although there is a rip on left side of the driver's seat bolster and two minor cracks on middle of the dashboard. Registration has been renewed recently and valid thru August 2015 (photo shows old tag but new one is on its way). Odometer currently shows 49,739 miles; although true mileage is unknown as the hundred-thousandths gear is stuck. All other digits on the odometer are turning accurately as it should however. Speedometer is not operational since the G80 posi/locker is installed; I'm quite certain this is caused by incompatibility with the stock speed sensor. Freon in A/C is drained as the previous owner performing the engine swap, so a re-charge should do if you want cold air. With that said, this turbocharged station wagon is overall presentable and mechanically solid! She has just made it through smog inspection without any issues. A smog certificate will be provided for the buyer. Writing this ad not only making it hard for me, but also reminds me of how much money I’ve spent to get it to where it’s at. I purchased the white wagon off of a local guy here in the SF Bay Area back in ’13, and planned to keep her for a long time. Previous owner has put a lot of love and hard work into this car, and the quality of workmanship shows! Water pump, timing belt, thermostat, tensioner, brake pads, and rotors are all replaced within the last 25k miles. I’ve been keeping up with maintenance and have put in some of the aforementioned upgrades. However, my current living situation involves a very uptight HOA; which has makes it difficult to keep all my cars as well as wrenching on them.
