Up for sale is my biggest toy and personal daily driver for almost 4 years.  As any avid jeep enthusiast would, i have owned, driven, wheeled, broken and build better this jeep for almost 4 years. It is now time to part ways with it and I'm certainly going to miss the s*** loads of fun you can really have with such a highly modified rig. So here it is ..... 1999 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 in line 6 engine with 186 thousand and some change in miles. Still the original factory engine.  Transmission is the usual AX-15 ( 5 speed ) the accompanies this year Wrangler s , but this one is a rebuilt one ( send out to a professional shop for complete over haul ) and then I threw it in myself. About 16k on it.  The t-case is the original np 231  Axles are still the original Dana 35 in the rear and Dana 30 in the front both with factory ratio gears.  The Dana 30 in the front has an Aussie locker while the Dana 35 in the rear has chromolly axle shafts.  I rebuild the front end last fall before i put the jeep away for the winter with heavy duty MOOG ball joints and heavy duty DANA u-joints. I upgraded the tie rod for the ZJ one (grand Cherokee ) a beefier version of the factory one.  It has JKS sway bar link quick disconnects to allow for more flexing during off roading.  The jeep has a 4" Rough Country suspension lift and a 3" body lift for a total of 7" extra so that the 35" tires that sits on won't rub at full flex, I also got rid of the fenders as you can see on the pics for more flexing room.  The tires are 35 x 12.5 R15 General grabber and have less than 500 miles on them. Under the hood there's no upgrades except for the red top battery that powers the jeep. It has a new alternator and belt. New rear brakes with drums and everything.  In the front and rear it has smittybuilt heavy duty bumpers. Stinger on the front and regular style in the back with a new 35 super swamper TSL for spare.  Cobra CB radio with a ridiculously long antenna :)  CD player with am/fm radio  8000lbs winch on front. Not working properly, honestly not sure what's wrong with it but it may need to be replaced soon. The frame itslef is pretty solid and no significant rust but the tub has some rust than sooner than later will need repairing. When I first bought the jeep I did a lot of rust repair in some of the floor panels and floor supports that held the body mounts. Some other will need attention soon. Jeep just passed inspection last month and is good until next July. This jeep is very roadworthy and could even be used as a daily driver as i did for the first 2 years, that is if you dont mind the 10MPG you will get :) but If you are looking for a smooth and comfy ride please disregard this add , this is a lifted jeep and although it has no problem getting up to 65 and cruising smoothly on the thruway while on cruise control you will not experience a confy ride thruought the incredibly bumpy roads of the city. But take it off road and it's a whole different story, feel free to crawl your way up some rocks perhaps a water crossing of a feet or two or dip it in a mud bath of a couple of feet to start your wheeling day; and that....is what you are really paying for.  I am currently daily driving it so if you are seriously interested in buying it you are welcome to come take a ride in it and test drive it.  Please only serious buyers , I am not looking for trades of any kind, not a bike or a four wheeler or any other cars, cash is the only way for you to own this jeep. ENDLESS HOURS. COUNTLESS HANDS. A FINE EXAMPLE FROM COAST TO COAST. This particular Station Sedan benefits from extensive preservation of it’s existing personality from caches of NOS spares and even more, the talent, enthusiasm and discretion of Packard Club members who built old and new back together, so seamlessly, that it’s soul remains intact. Since 2010: 4,000 miles after an extensive cosmetic restoration. 1,000 miles on current mechanical preservation. ( Danger! Run-on story and potholes of detail ahead. ) - VIN data plate G272898 ( CA DMV renumbered, long ago. Possibly on top of the Packard renumbering of Station Sedans up to three times before selling these slow moving, expensive models over three calendar years. ) - Series 2201 - Briggs body style tag: Model 2293-5025 - Firewall theft tracking number: 837728 - Paint Scheme: W ( Arizona Beige ) - Trim Code 614: Tan leatherette & pinstripe vinyl - 120-inch wheelbase - Gross weight: 4,080 attractive pounds Assorted date stamps: - Clock: 9-48 - PPG/Herculite/LOF Safety Plate glass:10-48 - Speedometer: 11-48 ( This car was a respectable restoration candidate over ten years ago with 70,000 miles on the clock. ) A COSMETIC RESTORATION SO EYES NEVER TIRE IN ADMIRATION. Mae West opined, a woman should cultivate her curves, “They may look dangerous, but they’ll be impossible to avoid.” This Station Sedan has become again a compelling feast for the eyes, making a Vargas pin-up break from the wooden fruit crate box utility that defined wagon design since the drawl of a horse. All Packards are famous for being a sight to behold. This car is no exception, possessing an organic shape that is as much a piece of minimalist sculpture as it is a sumptuous way to get from here to there. WOOD: About 2/3 of the original honey-toned wood was preserved with a few unsalvageable pieces used for templates blended in new maple. Stripped, sanded, stained and then finished with 15 coats of marine-grade polyurethane by San Diego woodie expert, Bowden Auto Body, Escondido, CA. All refinished sections were reinstalled as factory fit, with new 3M Di-Knoc used on the door panel and tailgate inserts. BODY & PAINT: Also at Bowden, all body panels were removed and completely disassembled for blasting, sanding, prime and paint, with new metal replaced only in a front floor section. Interior floor and door shells eventually coated in POR-15 and layered in sound dampener. Factory panel fit prevails with hardware, gasketing and seals as needed between all metal and wood. Oh, and Arizona Beige? It’s nothing but pure buttercream icing deep enough to slice. TRIM: All chrome and stainless ( except for dash components ) was removed and either re-chromed or polished by the best shop in Los Angeles, Van Nuys Plating, and it shows. All rubber seals around glass, windows, doors and vents were replaced using Steele Rubber products. The wood graining around the tin window trim was redone for all four doors and both rear compartment windows, six frames total. The dash is untouched, still lovely in it’s original wood grain and chrome jewelry. INTERIOR: A complete, new and correct interior was installed by a talented upholstery shop, Armand’s Auto Upholstery, Walnut Creek, CA, whose owner owned a Station Sedan and knew them well, having restored a few west coast examples with expertise. Seat fabric, door panels, kick panels, windlace, headliner, and rubber flooring were all replaced using correct materials. Seat frames were painted. The rear cargo area plywood and stainless luggage rails were refinished with beautiful, showroom effect without compare. A removable, square-weave, wool carpet is also installed over the original-style, ribbed mat rubber flooring. Overall, proper fit and finish throughout, very well done. Finished with seat belts for five and factory floor mats. From the hushed closure of the bank vault doors, the cabin is quiet, solid and as exceptional as the exterior. The seats are firm again. The windows mechanisms roll with ease. The glovebox is the only perfect square on the whole curvaceous car! Under the original wood-grained dash, seat adjustment, dash controls and pedal release, all mechanical and electrical controls are precise and move effortlessly, operating like new again. Under the dash is tidy, and stock, with NOS switches and rebuilt overdrive cable. The Victrola-sized tube radio was removed to ease access for new harness and improve around-town gas mileage. The only uninvited guest is a hidden toggle switch for the auxiliary, inline fuel-pump. CHASSIS: Underneath, the frame and body panels are exceptionally straight and clean, without signs of accident or repair. Thoroughly steamed cleaned and wire brushed from front to rear, with removal of loose undercoat and debris from entire front clip, wheel wells, across floor panels and rockers to under gas tank, then coated in only chassis black oil-based paint. Seams sealed, no surface rust, solid as the topside of the car. A MECHANICAL RESTORATION TO REINTRODUCE MOTOR TO CAR AND COMPANY. P is for power. Taking inspiration from the powerful reputation Packard earned from V-12s to Merlins, here’s the “fire-breathing” upgrade that the factory eventually proposed to accelerate the Station Sedan behemoth into a 23rd series. But history hadn’t been so kind. So better late than never. Out with the tired, original 288 and in with this fresh 327 engine rebuilt by Ross Miller of Speedwell Garage. Ross, a master mechanic and engineer, National Packard Club judge, forum advisor, international ambassador and overall skinned-knuckle, rolled sleeves, hands-on flywheel for all roadworthy endeavors in a Packard. 327 c.i. Thunderbolt H.O. head ( iron-1953 ) w/ 4-barrel Carter carb & manifolds 180 hp, 5 bearings, solid lifters Engine H402789, cast 5-24-49 ( H=23rd series, donated from a low-mileage Super ) Note: The anemic, original 288 c.i., 135 hp, 2-barrel, G267172 CE, dated 11-9-48 ( G=22nd series ) is available as a cheap core, or fully rebuilt, from Ross Miller, Speedwell Garage, Parton, MD 21120 ( 410-357-4561 ). With the M back in motor, every component also under the hood has been rebuilt or replaced with NOS and NAPA to give this car a complete, new start on a second life with renewed cooling, vacuum, heating, electrical and fuel systems. Nothing untouched, nothing left to guess, fiddle or curse. Other assorted mechanical chores crossed off: COOLING Radiator, heater core, fan and control valve thoroughly rebuilt, with fresh hoses and coolant. ELECTRICAL With rebuilt 6v starter, generator, the car starts immediately without any hesitation and drops to idle with all lights shining bright through a complete, new Rhode Island wire harness, bumper to bumper. New ignition components, battery, master kill switch and belts. All interior switches click and snap properly. The vacuum-operated wiper motor is rebuilt and functional again for the occasional cloudburst. WHEELS / SUSPENSION / DRIVETRAIN: Two tons of controlled stop, drop and roll…The front suspension is re-bushed and tight again along with new front and rear shocks, rear leaf springs and bushings. Alignment checked, the car stands perched on new Diamond Back radial white wall tires. Complete brake service with replacement of master cylinder, hoses, wheel cylinders, shoes and drums. Wheel bearings, axle half shafts and shims. NOS emergency brake cable found, installed and properly adjusted for most confidence. The steering, column shift, overdrive and transmission are precise, as expected. Chassis is fully greased. Rolling and floating above it all like a Macy’s parade balloon, this car is still as impressively smooth as Packard’s historic Straight-Eight reputation. Styling was an evolutionary thing, and in 1954, Chevy gave their pickups a 1-piece curved windshield that updated the truck's look quite a bit. The bed rails are now flat, so it's easy to install the wooden stake sides this one wears, and there was a bit more chrome to dress things up. Wearing a very handsome and correct coat of medium blue paint, this truck has an honest look that'll fill you with nostalgia. Quite honestly, we rarely see them this nicely restored, but with prices on the move you'll probably see more of them in the future. Fit and finish are exemplary and nothing was altered from the stock specs on the exterior. The grille is painted body color, as it was when it was new, but dress-up items like the chrome bumpers, hood ornament, and even polished headlight rings give it a flashier look. And as with most restored pickups these days, there's a spectacular wooden bed floor that matches the stake sides perfectly, adding warmth and charm that's a big part of owning an old pickup. The interior is basic pickup truck fashion of the mid-50s, with a brown vinyl bench seat, rubber floors, and a surprisingly attractive dashboard. The most remarkable feature, however, is the column-shifted Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, which was added as an option in 1954 and only a small fraction of trucks were so equipped. You'll note how much roomier it makes the interior feel and the steering column and angle of the wheel make it feel far more comfortable from behind the wheel. The gauges are big, bold, and nicely detailed while the doors are a nice combination of steel and vinyl upholstery for a bit of contrast. It has both the optional heater and radio, which would probably make this a loaded truck for its era, and the sharp restoration gives it a very polished look inside. The 235 cubic inch inline-six engine was also upgraded for 1954, although this one now carries a dealer-installed 1956 powerplant that was likely installed under warranty. It's a surprisingly smooth engine for a truck and with the traditional gray engine enamel, it looks right under the hood. You'll note an accessory oil filter, a correct downdraft carburetor, and an oil bath air cleaner with a cleverly-installed paper element inside for easy service and long life. It has also been upgraded with an alternator and 12-volt electrical system. The Hydra-Matic automatic transmission shifts well and makes this truck easy to drive under any conditions and with improved rear gearing, it's actually better on the highway than its manual transmission siblings. The suspension is basic but rides well and won't balk at carrying a few items home from Home Depot on weekends and there's a correct-sounding single exhaust system that makes a nice six-cylinder burble. Body-colored steel wheels with hubcaps and trim rings dress it up a bit, and we always prefer blackwalls on our pickups. Documented with restoration receipts and having been in the same family since 1955, this is a very high-grade pickup with a superb restoration and a lot charisma, not to mention a very desirable list of options. Hello Fellow E-bayers!Up for your consideration is this spectacular frame off, ground up restored 1955 Ford Thunderbird - this is a very special, truly unique car that I had built from the ground up - built literally "as new" by the world renown company, Prestige Thunderbird in Santa Fe Springs, California. You can search the internet for them - they have been in the business of restoring 1955 to 1957 Classic Thunderbirds - EXCLUSIVELY - for the last 40 years. They are master craftsmen, and no company on earth knows these cars better. I contacted them, and asked them to custom build me a 1955 T-Bird exactly the way I wanted it. And thats what they did - with astonishing hand built precision ...and now, due to some changes in my lifestyle, and needing to downsize, I am somewhat reluctantly offering her for sale to the right new owner - one who can appreciate the singular qualities of this truly one of a kind automobile. First, I thought "I'll just find a 1955 Thunderbird, and then make a few modifications to make her exactly what I want"....then, after speaking with the experts at Prestige, they told me they could custom build a brand new 1955 T-Bird to my exact specifications - in other words, every nut and bolt new - with a completely re-built correct original 292 cid Y-Block V-8 - on a completely fresh (sandblasted to bare metal) 1955 body and freshly restored frame. I liked that idea a lot. So - thats how we started - first, they found a 1955 rust free California car - then sand blasted the body and frame down to bare metal, then every single aspect of the car - was built "as new" - I am not exaggerating at all - this car is literally built by hand...and then, I requested a few modifications to make this T-Bird a truly drivable car - for example, I had a 2003 Mustang 5-speed manual transmission installed in place of the original 3-speed (which makes this car so much more fun to drive than the original clunky 1955 3-speed), also replaced the 1955 "generator" with a 1957 model "alternator"...also, the carburetor is a Holley 4 barrel from the 1957 Thunderbird - so this car is the one of the quickest, best driving 1955 T-Birds you will ever find anywhere. Here is a list of details about this particular car: 1955 Ford Thunderbird: Complete Ground Up, Frame Off Restoration. Every nut and bolt - NEW and as original. This is virtually a brand new 1955 car. Car is an absolute gem, and is very close to mint. On a scale of 1-10, this is easily a #9 car. No bondo, straight as an arrow, never in a collision of any kind. The paint is gorgeous - truthfully, the car could use a buff to take out a few slight superficial marks. Remember, I DROVE this car - not a lot - mostly on weekends for drives to the beach, etc. but she is designed to be DRIVABLE every day if you so desire. Anyway, there a few insignificant light marks that can be easily buffed out. Low mileage (apx. 2000 miles). Yes, that is correct actual miles - I bought her custom built, AS NEW, therefore the odometer was at "0" when I bought her. 2000 miles is all that has been driven on this car since I took possession. Car is stock, except a few modernizations designed to make it a superb driver. Power Front Disc Brakes: (replaces standard "drum brakes" - huge improvement in drivability.) Modern Mustang 5 speed manual transmission from a 2003 Mustang (replaces stock 3 speed) with custom walnut shift knob. This is a huge improvement - again, this car drives beautifully - a cross between the classic feel of the original 1955, but with a few serious modernizations that make it drive like butter! Custom camel (medium tan) all leather interior, including matching leather seats, leather door panels, and leather clad dashboard. Gorgeous! I have never seen this color combination on a 1955 Thunderbird - please see pics. The contrast between the Raven Black exterior and the tan leather interior is simply stunning!Wide white wall radial tires. Power steering. Original 1955 steering wheel. Front Sway bar for better cornering/ handling. You won't believe how significant this improvement is. Upgrade to 12 Volt electrical system. ( Ford upgraded this in 1956 - the original 1955 design incorporated a 6 volt system - one of the truly inadequate aspects of this, the first year of the classic T-Bird)). Electronic ignition for carefree starts every time.Battery cut off switch makes storing the car easy - and you'll never come out and the car is "dead" - or, if you don't plan on driving her every day - if you plan to leave her sit in your garage for a few weeks, you simply shut off the battery with a simple turn of a "knob" and - this saves your battery life - fantastic. Freshly Re-Built Alternator (from a 1957 Thunderbird) replaces original design which incorporated a generator. Huge improvement. Carburetor is the 1957 - Holley 4 barrel model, much improved from the primitive oil-bath style from 1955. Electric Windshield Wipers (replaces original vacuum system). Full Frame detail - bottom of the car is super clean, and show quality. 4 Kelsey Hayes Wire Wheels with red center caps - beautiful, distinctive touch. Stunning Black High Luster Clear Coat Paint in correct Raven Black color. AM-FM custom stereo, with cassette player, with 4 speakers. High Quality Under Dash Air Conditioning. Parade Fan (in front of radiator) for much needed extra cooling. If you know about these cars, they were obviously wonderful - but they did have a tendency to over heat during long drives - the parade fan is placed in front of the radiator, behind the "grille" - and does a fabulous job of keeping the radiator cool. Engine Dress Up Kit, featuring all the bells and whistles - chrome components, special valve covers with T-Bird logo, etc. See Pics. Sun Visors. Believe it or not, they were optional back in 1955. Wind Wings on both doors. See Pics. These are small glass mini windows that can be folded outward, to cut wind/draft in the cabin down. Seat belts. Again, optional in 1955.
