This is a beautiful 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis with only 44k original miles and this Marquis has the beautiful Palm Beach Edition package for a classy look inside and out. It has a nice clean Carfax report showing no accidents or problems and lot's of good service records. It was traded in at a local major dealership here in Ft.Myers, NO auctions! It has spent much of it's time here in Florida and it shows, there is no rust and even the underside is nice and clean, you won't see that on any northern vehicle. The exterior looks wonderful and the all original paint looks great with a nice deep Mercury shine with no dents, scrapes, fade or rust. The vinyl top look nice and there is extra chrome all around including the wheel covers for a very classy look and the tires are matching and provide a very smooth ride. The interior is spotless and this is a non-smoker's car and nice and fresh inside. The leather seats show near new and the fronts have special Palm Beach Edition stitching on them for a classy look. All the power options work great including the ice cold air conditioning and CD stereo. There is lot's of room inside with seating for six and a large truck. Look close at the pictures and I promise you it looks every bit as nice in person. What a pleasure to drive, so smooth and quiet. The peppy V-8 runs smooth as new and should with only 44k miles and great service records. The brakes are tight as is the transmission and suspension with no shakes or rattles. This one-off example was designed and bodied by H. J. Mulliner for Mrs. Sybil Rhodes, an American married to British industrialist Frank E. Rhodes. In the prewar years, and for many years after, Rhodes made his fortune in concrete, paving the motorways crisscrossing Great Britain. It is believed that Sybil owned a French sports car when she lived in the United States; however, it was never shipped to the Rhodes estate in England. One person suggested that Frank Rhodes was not happy with the French after the war and would not permit anything French on his property (thus we would assume his wine cellar was stocked with bottles from the White Cliffs of Dover). With Sybil’s affection for French styling one can see the influence of esteemed Paris salons such as Franay and Saoutchik in the H. J. Mulliner design, particularly the rear deck (boot) with its beautiful chrome fin. The entire body is aluminum under which is the early, whisper-silent, Rolls-Royce straight six coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. A close-coupled design, the rear is taken up by a wonderfully British traveling cocktail bar. The Long Road to Restoration Owned today by a renowned Pennsylvania collector , the car has been restored to its original H. J. Mulliner design and color scheme. The owner, who is known for his meticulous restorations had spent years and over 5000 hours producing a most magnificent car to it glory, admitted that he had not intended this car to be quite such a project. “I got it from Florida and started working on it, cleaning it up; I figured I would just turn it into a nice driver,” he recalls. But as is often the case with a restoration, one thing led to another. There was more to this car than originally met the eye. “Along the way, I acquired original plans and other documents that made me more and more interested in this new project. A lot of times with coach built cars changes are made that never get noted in the original plans. This car was originally supposed to have a dickey seat (rumble seat) behind the passenger compartment. At some point this was changed and a full length trunk was put in its place. Also, they had designed the spare tire to be inserted through the license plate door, but that would never have worked based on the size of the spare, so that design was changed as well. But the most significant factors about the car were masked under years of old paint and restoration work.” As the restoration team began prepping the car they discovered original details that may have been covered over for as long as 30 years. While stripping the paint (many layers including the visible coats of blue, yellow and then the original black) they found holes running down the center of the trunk, as well as along the trailing edges of the rear fenders. “These were details that had been removed and the holes filled,” says the owner. “At about the same time we discovered a few rusty pieces of metal in a box in the trunk. We didn’t even know that there was a built in box in the trunk, but found it recessed far forward of the rear axle and covered over. It was then that we started to realize maybe we had something even more special than we already knew.” Those rusty pieces of metal turned out to be parts of an original deck lid fin. There were also a couple of threaded bolts that matched the uncovered holes. By placing advertisements on the Internet, and in British newspapers both in and around the area of the old Rhodes Estate, letters started coming in. “During our research we found out that there were more than the one set of plans at Hunt House (storage of Rolls-Royce records). The second plan showed the elimination of the Dickey seat and a different arrangement of the refreshment (liquor and wine) cabinet. Later there was a note that was in conflict with the original plans. The note called for the placement of the spare tire forward in the boot behind the passenger seat. The prior plan shows its placement to the aft of the trunk, in a well. The measurement for the opening to house the spare was actually several inches shorter than the spare tire!” The owner managed to contact the son of the Rhodes family chauffeur who had lived at Thorpe Underwood Hall, the Rhodes’ palatial country estate. Further letters and calls noted that sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s Mrs. Rhodes had an accident with WGC48 that damaged the left front fender, left rear fender and rear of the boot. The car was disposed of shortly thereafter. It is believe that the damaged Silver Wraith was sold to Myers- Brunell, which handled Rolls-Royces and had an extensive fabricating shop. The car was repaired; however, the side trim and center boot molding were not replaced. The holes were filled in and the sections sprayed in black. It was shipped to the United States where it found a new owner. Since then this French influenced Silver Wraith has remained in the U.S., the country where its original owner was born. What does BRZ stand for? Boxer engine - Rear wheel drive - Zenith in Passion!I recently purchased this gem from its original Florida owner with the intent to keep it as my daily driver and sell my Ford Focus ST. However, after spending a couple of months with the car, I've decided that I need to sell it instead. Now in my 50's and 6'4" tall, I believe that the larger and more practical Focus ST will simply be a better fit for me in the long run. I really do hate that to be honest, because I love this car and everything else about it. It runs, drives, sounds, looks, and even smells like a new one, and is a pure joy to drive. With its light weight, balanced sporty handling, and low mounted boxer engine, this car impresses. The normally aspirated 2.0L engine produces ample power for the car in the low rev range, as the fuel map and valve timing allow it to be highly economical in this everyday mode. But when you ask it for more power and the valve timing changes as the revs rise, a track ready character emerges and a smile comes to your face. Since owning the car and putting 2,514 miles on the odometer, I have yet to get less than 30 mpg on a tank of gas. On the highway I've been able to get up to 39 mpg on one tank (42 per computer but 39 calculated)! Around town I typically get 30-32 mpg! I just filled her up with gas for you, and got 31 mpg on my last in town tank.Galaxy Blue Silica is a less common color choice for the BRZ, but it's my personal favorite. It was limited to the 2013 model year only, therefore it can be difficult to find one now, especially in this kind of condition. If you have been looking for “the one”, then you no longer have to look because you have now found it! Hurry up and make it yours before someone else does!This beautiful 6 speed manual BRZ has been exclusively doctor owned and driven. It has never been tracked or driven hard. It has been involved in no motor vehicle accidents or fender benders. Other than the window tint, bright white LED interior and license plate lighting, a professionally painted and installed “shark fin” antenna, and debadging, it is and has remained completely stock. The limited trim BRZ comes with all that the Premium trim does plus Bluetooth keyless access & start, leather upholstery with Alcantara inserts, dual zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and side view mirrors, fog lights, body color rear trunk spoiler, and an antitheft security system. The optional equipment on this one includes an auto dimming mirror with compass and Homelink universal transmitter, a protective rear bumper applique', chrome fender trim package, and wheel locks (which are currently uninstalled because I've had no need for them). This BRZ limited has never been smoked in, never driven in snow, and never been exposed to pets. It has always been garage kept, and very well maintained. I just recently completed the 15,000 mile service with a meticulous inch by inch bumper to bumper inspection (I have past experience as an auto mechanic and machinist, and because I am a pathologic perfectionist, I have done my own maintenance to spec for nearly 4 decades). This baby is ready to roll and in need of nothing. The owner’s manual, original window sticker, previous service records, a bottle of touch-up paint, wheel locks with key, spare tire and tools, and a remote key fob (with a mechanical backup key) will also be included in the sale. Unfortunately, the original owner misplaced the extra OEM key and was unable to find it. If a spare key fob is needed it will have to be obtained then programmed at a Subaru dealership. The Sirius/XM satellite radio subscription however is prepaid (courtesy of the original owner) through June of 2015! The free and clear title is currently in my hand, for a quick and easy transaction as long as your funds are available.This particular BRZ is exceptionally clean, and has been meticulously detailed over the past several weeks to “like new” or “better than new” condition. On the exterior, all of the minor scratches and stone chips that can be expected with normal wear and tear of a used car have been scrupulously touched up, sanded down, and buffed out to a smooth glossy finish. Areas of the clear coat which should not have even come from the factory with texture (roof, hood, trunk deck, fender flares, etc.) on a car with such nice beautiful lines have been carefully wet sanded, polished and buffed again and again to achieve a remarkable luster while still leaving adequate layer of protective clear. It's not completely clear of all factory texture (orange peal) as the pictures will show, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find even a BRZ show car with a glossier finish. A fresh coat of Zymol carnauba wax has been applied. Know that despite my efforts, the paint is not perfect, but it’s pretty close. There are still a few minor paint defects and areas that I touched up that can still be found on close up critical inspection, but you really have to be looking for them. Regardless, this car is beautiful. Pictures fail to capture the metallic and pearlescent nature of the paint.The light weight OEM wheels are in like new condition with no curb rash, dings, or stone chips. I’ve removed them from the car, polished them, and coated them with Zaino show car polish (polymer sealant) to help keep them clean and protected from brake dust and the elements. When I remove or rotate tires, I always take the opportunity to closely inspect and detail the suspension components, brakes, and wheel wells, as well as the undercarriage. It may not be quite ready for the mirrors on the ground at your next car show (I didn't break out the polish for that), but it's not too far from museum quality clean even underneath. The tires are all evenly worn with 5-6/32” of tread remaining (about 40% left). I've lowered my buy it now price to the point where you can buy a new set of tires and still feel like you've got a great deal! The interior of this BRZ limited is very clean and the comfortable and supportive leather seats with alcantara inserts (for better grip in the twisties) are like new with no signs of wear, tear, or stain. The same can be said about the carpet, door panels, and headliner. There is some very mild expected wear in the right heel area of the of the driver side floor mat and there are a few minor scratches on the scuff plates of the door sill (which are the same as those I often see on brand new cars). A few small scratches or scuff marks can also be found on the console and center stack if you look closely for them. Aside from this, the interior looks brand new. I've sold several vehicles on eBay over the years and have never had a disappointed buyer. Please check out my feedback. To the point, this is not a high-end Concours restoration (nut/bolt), nor is it a low budget build, this is a full restoration (powertrain, interior, body&paint). Look & Compare:There are a handful of these out there, but original white GT are a rare gem especially in this color combination. Title/Background:Titled and plated in Arizona, this is an all 50 state legal vehicle, and the NEXT smog exempt vehicle. Has CARB compliant modifications. This car has been in California pretty much its whole entire life, and currently stored in a warehouse. Overall Test Drive:For the most part, this car starts up on the first turn of the ignition. Depending on the airbox (choice of 2) the engine either idles at 800 to about 1000 rpm. Runs very smoothly with no unusual noises. There are no leaks that we have found, and all fluids are at recommended levels. On the road, I am able to go through the engine's powerband pretty efficiently, however when driven aggressively, it's apparent the carburetor needs tuning to match upgrades listed below. Factory jets currently installed for emissions with baffle.The transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly. On rare occasions, I found it difficult to go straight into reverse, so I shift to fifth, and back down to reverse. Based on my experience, is a common issue amoung most cars that use traditional style transmissions.The suspension I'm not too familiar with, but it feels stiff on the ride. There's a bounce when the vehicle encounters a harsh bump. Driving at 75 mph feels like a 100 mph. This car telegraphs more than modern day vehicles. Braking stops very well, no issues found. Personal Note:Driving this vintage, I cannot put in words. When I look over-the-shoulder while down shifting to merge on the freeway, pull into a gas station, or stop at a light, this car has this this cool element to it. Maybe it's the way the road feels in the steering wheel, or the positive shift of the shift ball before I release the clutch, the way it looks, its presence. I have not seen any cancer, holes, and/or rust in these areas.Pros:1. Kenwood sound system in the glove compartment. 2. Hands Free Phone via Bluetooth 3. 4 Way Racing Mirrors 4. New Shifter 5. New Headliner, Dashtop, Door Cards, A&C pillars are rewrapped.Cons: 1. Missing factory radio knobs, bezel around the shifter 2. Some of the bingo lights are on while driving (brake, electrostator, and oil) but vehicle drives normal, and fluids are all at recommended levels. 3. Dashtop needs to be secured to the factory dash Exterior:Overall score is an 8/10, also because of the pros and cons list. Original color is white, and it was repainted a 2 stage white, fitting. The body lines are very good, when opening and closing various doors, trunk, and hood, everything seems to line of very well. I went through the whole exterior, and was not able to find a dent, maybe some chips in the front area. The paint is very good, but it could use more post work like wet sanding since there are some orange peels. It's worth noting, the wheels were spray painted leaving a run or two, powder coating would be advised. Also, the white lines on the rim are decals, not paint. Overall, there are no indications of any rust, cancer, or holes.Pros: 1. Custom 2 stage white 2. Restomod halogen headlights 3. Shaved Mirrors 4. Chin & Rear Spoilers 5.
