Although it had the same silhouette as the previous Carrera models with the exception of the molded bumpers, nearly every other component was improved. Even the 3.3L engine of the 964 Turbos was significantly improved. Although they shared a similar design with the prior 930s, turbo lag was reduced and power was improved to 316hp and 332 lb. ft. of torque. This helped propel it from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. Only a few thousand were built for the world and just a handful of low-mile original examples remain. This Turbo was built on June 21st, 1991 and sold new by Precisions Imports, the Porsche dealer in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 15th, 1992. It was nicely optioned from the factory with the following: Limited Slip Differential Lumbar Support – Left Electric Sliding Sunroof CD-2 CD Player w/Radio Supple Leather Seats Yokohama Tires The MSRP was just over $100,000. That is the equivalent of $175,000 today. For the first decade, this Porsche lived in Oklahoma and was used sparingly and stored in the winters (sometimes at the Porsche dealer). It was serviced regularly. In 2001, it was sold to an owner in Georgia where it has been until recently arriving here in Southern California. Over the years, besides frequent oil services, there have been some significant services as well as tasteful upgrades. Highlights of these include: Replaced turbo with an upgraded KKK unit (@ 18k-miles) Installed headers with upgraded muffler and wastegate New Michelin tires New brake pads and rotors Koni/H&R coil over suspension package At 26,630-miles, the previous owner took the car to the local Porsche dealer and spent over $10k on engine services including: Replaced all belts New AC idler, console, tension indicator Alternator fan Adjust valves and install new spark plugs Service gearbox oil Remove engine and repair oil leaks New clutch Replace most oil lines New power steering hoses Detail engine/refinish tins Install new intercooler Just a little over a month ago (26,710-miles), a local Porsche specialist went through the car and prepared it for sale by bringing all the services up to date. The cost was over $3,500 and included: Major service Valve adjustment New brake pads and rotors front/rear New Michelin tires Oil service Check head studs/safety inspection Repair one small oil leak This 964 Turbo is in excellent condition. The paint is primarily original and shows minimal signs of wear. Panels were checked with a paint meter and verified original except for a small amount of blending on the left rear quarter by the bumper (to repair a scratch). The original wheels look great with no curb rash and are wearing near-new Michelins. The brake pads and rotors are also new. There is a slight wear spot on the right rear fender near the window where the paint is thin due to frequent detailing. All the glass is original, including the windscreen, and looks good. The side and rear glass have been lightly tinted to protect the interior. The inside is equally as nice with minimal signs of use – indicative with the miles. The supple leather light grey leather seats look fresh with no tears and light signs of use. The carpet, headliner, and door pockets look perfect and fresh. All the gauges operate properly. The A/C blows cold. All the lights work as well. The original radio is included with the car, but not installed. It is missing the factory amplifier that goes under the passenger seat. The speakers have been subtly replaced with upgraded MB Quartz units, but are not hooked up. Instead, a radio delete plate is installed. This Turbo drives fantastic. The power is quite strong with much less turbo lag than prior models. There is no smoke on start-up. The car shifts smoothly with no clutch or synchro issues. The brakes have great bite and no fade or pulling. This is a very easy Porsche to drive and would be perfect for fun long-distance touring or showing at PCA events. This Porsche will not pass CA smog unless a stock muffler with catalytic converter is installed.
