I bought my car from the dealership in 2005. I rarely drove, but did take it cross country from Oregon to Colorado a couple of times. When I moved back to Colorado it mostly stayed parked as I work at home. Then, I got cancer, and the car went up in the garage for two years. When I went into remission, I wanted to drive it again, so took it out of the garage and did a full tune-up - new tires, belts, hoses, etc. Then? I found out how much it would cost me to re-license it, and realized I can't afford to re-license it with all the late fees the DMV wants to charge me. In the years that he has owned the car, he did a very long list (see list in pictures) of repairs and upgrades to make this one of the most trusted road worthy early 60's classic cars seen on the road today! It has all the right equipment that most of us hope to find in a classic car but usually can not. These features include factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, power windows and power seats. The Imperials were the flagship of the Chrysler brand in '61 so it had all the latest and greatest technology that was offered at the time. The car is in remarkable condition as it was restored about 10 years ago by the family who had owned the car since new. When they looked at it and saw the lights, chrome, the fins, the color, the interior condition and the original condition, we bought the car with one thing in mind...to take this old beauty on a road trip through the USA. We started our tour in Florida and drove through Mississippi and collected a first place trophy at a car show there then up to Route 66, crossed the Rocky Mountains through Yosemite pass at 10,000 feet and then on to Sacramento, CA and back to sea level along the Pacific Coast Highway. We started east from Oregon along Route 2 and then near the Canadian Border, through Montana, Wyoming, Mount Rushmore and continued to float all the way back to Florida...8,800+ plus miles. The car is serviced and ready for the next long haul! We really enjoyed our time with this couple. While they were out test driving the Caddy we all of us who work here swarmed the parking lot where the car was parked. I have the this written history from the descendants of the original owner, here is a condensed version...... The body is really is great shape - there is a thin spot on the top back left side with a hole, some whatever little bangs on her, but just look at that fabulous old black patina, is that original paint ? All the air vents on the side turn freely up and down, chrome intact, i put door handles and window handles back on where they belong in the car one day and everything opens/closes - doors shut tight and will seal. All the window hardware is there, all the inside trim is there, even the seat handles are there. Everything on the car right now I believe is how it rolled out of the factory, I think this is original miles. I don't think this car has been wrecked - its got some bumper bangs, and etc - but looks good and straight from front to back. It got the 39 count vertical front grille bars and original hood ornament. Every original rim is there, every original hubcap (all in good shape) - and look at those old knobby tires from where it would have ran around Dillllingham, Alaska dirt roads - those tires are old, knobby, and worn - those tires have been some places, they look great on it. When these units are purchased from the dealer-only auctions as trade-ins or lease turn-ins they may not have some ‘accessories’ which you may feel should be included.
