The design of the Prowler was born when Chrysler engineers were given free rein to create whatever they wanted in a "hot rod" or "sportster" type vehicle. One of the most striking design features of the Prowler is the open, Indy racer style front wheels. Although he is officially un-credited, famed car designer Chip Foose's Chrysler-Sponsored Senior Project car at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, which he dubbed the Hemisfear, evolved into the Plymouth Prowler. The Prowler features a powertrain lifted from Chrysler's LH-cars, a 3.5LSOHCChrysler V6 engine with 24valves producing a powerful 253 hp. Today, with public scrutiny at an all-time high, it’s very unlikely that such a remarkable car would ever get built. And with that in mind, it’s a sure-fire bet that future collectors will prize the Prowler. And this factory-fresh Prowler Mulholland Edition, a hand-built custom that possesses OEM quality and sports car performance, presents the perfect opportunity to own a 21st century hot rod! Named for legendary Mulholland Drive in Southern California, this special edition drop-top is one of the first 1,281 Chrysler Prowlers to roll down the production line. Judging by its clean finish and mirror-like reflections, the car has rarely seen rain. Since all Prowlers were completely hand-built at Chrysler’s storied Conner Avenue Assembly, they typically show above average build quality. This roadster, with its narrow gaps, solid-closing doors and tight-sealing top, looks better than most cars that cost twice our asking price. And, with striking Midnight Blue two-stage and a hand-painted Dr. Ru pinstripe, the car sits as one super slick head-turner that exhibits a perfect combination style and technology! Like all of Chrysler’s stylish 90s metal, this convertible’s killer detailing is brilliantly executed over smooth and taut proportions. At the front of the car, contrasting black bumpers hang crystal clear parking lamps just ahead of Indy-style wheels, composite, projector beam headlights and a heritage-inspired grille. Above that grille, a pointed hood centers a monochromatic, Prowler-specific emblem in front of a pristine, factory windshield. When Prowlers finally hit the streets, many purists were upset that a V6 was the only powertrain option. What those purists failed to realize was: 1) with 253 horses and 250 lb./ft. of torque, the car’s 3.5 liter, 24-valve SOHC V6 was making virtually the same power as Chrysler’s Magnum V8s, and 2) when combined with the car’s lightweight chassis and low center of gravity, it posted some very impressive performance numbers. Mechanically, this Plymouth’s all-aluminum engine is showroom new in just about every possible way. Naturally, the mill has benefitted from basic maintenance but, beyond that, everything is essentially fresh out of the box. It certainly appears that the car has been driven often enough to keep every system in top operating condition. And, not only does the smooth sixer fire up instantly and idle perfectly, it moves its relatively lightweight payload with real authority. Behind that buff V6, a 42LE 4-speed automatic transaxle, which features an ‘AutoStick’ gear change setting, is more of a toy than a functional performance improvement. But it fits the Prowler’s persona perfectly, and far more of today’s “real” hot rods are built with automatics than stick shifts. So, who can blame Chrysler for doing their homework and giving the public what it actually wants? That road-ready drivetrain is held off the ground by an aluminum-intensive chassis, which is equipped with an independent double A-arm front and multi-link rear suspension. Dynamic Suspensions coil-overs combine with standard stabilizer bars and power rack and pinion steering to carve curves for lunch and eat potholes for dinner. Stops come courtesy of four composite discs, which measure 11 inches up front and 13 inches out back. The engine growls a rowdy, throaty exhaust note through two fat pipes, which exit just under the rear bumpers. For 1972 through 1974 the GTX became an option package on the Road Runner. The Plymouth Road Runner was a performance car built by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation in the United States between 1968 and 1980. In 1968, the first muscle cars were, in the opinion of many, moving away from their roots as relatively cheap, fast cars as they gained options. Although Plymouth already had a performance car in the GTX, designers decided to go back to the drawing board and reincarnate the original muscle car concept. Plymouth wanted a car able to run 14-second times in the quarter mile and sell for less than US$3000. Both goals were met, and the low-cost muscle car hit the street. The success of the Road Runner would far outpace the upscale and lower volume GTX, with which it was often confused. The 1973-74 models received completely new sheet metal and had more conventional squared-up front-end styling and changes to the rear that more closely resembled the four-door models than the 71-72s. This particular 1972 Plymouth Duster 340, however, isn't some smog-strangled commuter, but one of Chrysler's hottest performance cars of the era, and it's exceptionally nice. Code V2 Tor-Red ideally captures the spirit of the times and stands out today for those of us who like a bit of nostalgia with our old cars. And while the Duster was technically an economy car, this one has had a bunch of time spent getting it into shape, both externally and under the hood. For a '72 Duster, this one must have been pretty clean to begin with, which is a rare thing all on its own, because the quality of the car is just over-the-top, particularly at this price. We're undecided as to whether this is an exceptional original car or a nicely restored unit, but the finish has a deep shine that shows well and it isn't perfect, so it'll keep everyone else guessing, too. The doors fit well, the quarters are smooth, and the blacked-out hood with 340 graphics and a white sport stripe along the flanks clearly identify this as a piece of Mopar muscle. The chrome and trim is probably original and looking its age, with some light pitting on the bumpers, but again, as a low-dollar high-performance machine, this one has a lot going for it. The basic theme continues inside with a super clean black bench seat interior, complete with matching carpets and door panels. It's got a matching set of Duster-logo floor mats and the Duster does a good job of blending economy and performance, with durable materials, a Hurst 4-speed shifter, and precious little else. And even as a value-priced entry, this Duster comes complete with a full array of informative gauges from the factory, although the tach and oil pressure gauge are not working. The woodgrained applique on the instrument panel warms things up a bit and we've always liked Chrysler's 3-spoke steering wheel, which looks sporty, not cheap. There is only an AM radio but that only means it's ready for the head unit of your choice and the rest is street-racer basic: crank windows, manual steering, and only a heater and defroster. The trunk is surprisingly large for a compact car like this, and carries a correct mat. Obviously there's a 340 cubic inch V8 under the hood and it's got a very authentic look that's right in line with other Mopar performance cars. The air cleaner advertises the 4-barrel carburetor underneath, there's Hemi Orange paint on the block, and a set of headers helps built low-end torque. Supporting equipment includes a big radiator, a fresh battery, and a new dual exhaust system with stock-style mufflers polished oval tips peeking out under the rear bumper. The 4-speed manual transmission was becoming an endangered species in 1972, but without it, this car becomes ho-hum, so we're thrilled to see it here. You'll find the original 8.75-inch rear end out back and the rest of the chassis look very clean and tidy with only a set of air shocks deviating from stock spec. 14-inch Rallye wheels offer a classic performance look and wear fat Firestone Firehawk radials. This neat little Plymouth is the perfect entry-level, high-quality muscle car with V8 power in a very affordable package. 1975 Chrysler Cordoba 360c.i.,automatic, factory black car, very original, purchased off the original owner with only 50k original miles, always garage kept and never driven in winter. The Cordoba has power steering, power disc brakes, bucket seats with Corinthian leather, center arm rest, dual chrome remote mirrors, original fender tag and 15” wheels with whitewall tires and original hub caps. The Cordoba is as factory correct as the day it left the showroom floor! The exterior had one repaint, only because the original owner wanted a smoother base/clear finish on the paint instead of the single stage enamel paint. The body is in excellent shape and has never had any rust or collision work. All the panels are original and never off the car! The paint work was done over 15 years ago and still looks fantastic! The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally buffed in a multiple step process to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. Only the exterior paint was refinished. The door jams, engine bay and trunk area are all factory original. This car is very correct and super clean! The Cordoba was also Ziebart rustproofed when bought new! Inside the trunk is all correct and in excellent shape. It even has the factory spare tire, bumper jack, original trunk carpet with dated Chrysler tags still in place. The speaker shelf is the cleanest factory one I have ever seen! DRIVE TRAIN The Cordoba runs and drives excellent! It is one of the best riding cars I have ever driven! The 360c.i. engine is a factory warranty Chrysler exchanged short block. The original owner said it was done shortly after he had purchased the car brand new. Everything else is correct and numbers matching including the transmission, rear-end, 26” radiator, wiper motor, exhaust manifolds, intake and much more! I just changed the engine oil and filter with new top of the line Brad Penn. All of the brakes have been checked and are in excellent shape as are the 215-75-15 tires with the original hub caps. The carb was changed and runs very good. I also have a newer re-man one in the box that I will include with the sale of the car. The Cordoba is ready to run and drive. You will be very impressed with this car! It will be perfect to hit all the shows and cruises that you can! GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The glass is in very good original condition with only the front windshield being changed several years ago. All windows and locks operate as should. All the chrome is original and in good shape for it’s age. The front bumper is still in very nice shape and the rear bumper is good but does have a few marks/fine spots in the chrome but overall in nice shape. The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. INTERIOR The interior is all factory original including the seat covers, carpet, door panels, trunk divider, speaker shelf, dash pad, woodgrain on complete dash and sill plates. The factory gauge cluster is very nice condition. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. There is an aftermarket digital radio that works great. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, interior lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers and license plate light. The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch work as should. The seat cover on the driver side has a seam at the top near the headrest starting to pull but not torn and the center arm rest has some wear on it (shown in photos). Also the dash pad has a small crack at the center speaker area. I would be willing to bet that the original buildsheet is behind the rear seat back as it has never been out of the car! All pictures and comments are made to help you better evaluate the individual vehicle. Please understand that on older and high mileage cars, there will be above normal wear and tear. All vehicles are being sold locally at our dealership aswell and may incur added miles due to reconditioning and test drives. Florida law requires us to sell any vehicle over ten years of age as exempt from mileage statements. Please also note, when purchasing a used vehicle, although it is new to you, there is a possibility the vehicle will need service or repair in the first weeks of ownership. We are also not responsible for missing owners manuals, key fobs, extra keys, CD cartridges, navigation DVDs, or any other non essential accessories. Theses minor accessories do not always remain with a vehicle over their lifetime. All of these items can be found at your local dealer or auto parts store. TITLE INFORMATION In the State of Florida, most titles to vehicles are held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments from the time the vehicle is paid off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing, there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. We are a licensed and bonded dealer in the state of Florida and guarantee a clean title on all our vehicles. Titles will be forwarded by overnight service for proper tracking. Yes, we have access to a number of qualified transporters that we work with on a regular basis who can ship anywhere in the United States and abroad. We are happy to help arrange delivery with one of these shippers. Of course you are free to use a transporter of your choice. SHIPPING COST ESTIMATES. Actual cost may vary due to exact location and vehicle type. Fees and Taxes A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close, NO EXCEPTIONS. After using the "BUY IT NOW" feature on the EBAY ad you will be then prompted to make an IMMEDIATE deposit of $500.00 through paypal to ensue the auction has closed and that you are the winner. We then require that within 24hrs you make an additional deposit of $500.00 to ( [email protected] ) for the remaining balance of the required $1000.00 Deposit.
