For starters, the car must be in tip-top condition. In some instances, determining that is as easy as looking at pictures. But it always helps to have some form of documentation of either a through restoration or serious survivor chops. Speaking of documentation: the more, the better. Ultimately, what we're looking for is anything that can tell the car's story or confirm its exclusivity. The market directly reinforces that exclusivity, as cars of the same quality often sell for close to the same price. Finally, it's always nice to have the hobby's blessing through awards and accolades. By those rules, this fully restored Chevelle, a car the Berger family loaded with 29 additional options, is definitely investment grade. It wraps an original 396/4-speed drivetrain in correct black on red aesthetics that were achieved through a documented rotisserie restoration. Its asking price is right in line with multiple '70 Chevelle convertibles we've already sold. And, since the car spent the last decade winning major awards from AACA, ISCA, MCCN, Chevy Classics and Super Chevy, we're fairly certain it's some of the hobby's most desirable metal! AWARDS Since this Chevelle is one of the most decorated classics we've ever showcased, we'll jump right in to a chronological breakdown of the car's litany of awards and features. 2015:997 out of Super Chevy Chevelle Magazine BODYWORK/TRIM There's no question this highly optioned Chevy benefitted from a world-class restoration. But, given its history, it seems the car was always destined for a touch of greatness. Built in November of 1969 at Leeds Assembly in Kansas City, Kansas, this exclusive drop-top was shipped directly to Berger Chevrolet where it likely became the primary transportation of Vivian Berger, Dale Berger Sr.'s wife. Over the next three decades, the car served four additional owners as a well-preserved survivor. Then, circa 2002, its sixth and most recent owner orchestrated a 3-year, rotisserie restoration that logged roughly 2,400 hours of labor. Laser-straight bodywork, perfected by Piedmont, South Carolina's Chuck Miller's Restorations, wrapped a new hood, new fenders, new quarters and new trunk drops in a correct layer of Tuxedo Black 2-stage. That glossy pigment hangs new stainless and fresh chrome around a nostalgic Berger emblem and clean Super Sport ornamentation. And everything rides under correct Black vinyl that, because of the restorers' obsession with quality, was the third top installed during the car's detailed overhaul. ENGINE Toss this classic's hood and you'll find an original, 396 cubic inch big block that was bored .030 over and fully rebuilt by the professionals at Ewing Automotive Machine in Snellville, Georgia. At the top of the Chevy Orange mill, a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner forces oxygen in to a correct Quadrajet carburetor that was restored by Kunz Automotive of St. Louis, Missouri. That carb rides on a factory intake, which feeds factory heads that hang over a GM-spec cam and GM-spec valves. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor sequences fire through Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables, chrome valve covers reflect correct exhaust manifolds. And at the front of the block, GM hoses channel water past an original alternator and correct Frigidaire AC compressor with the help of a beefy radiator and familiar tower clamps. Everything, from the car's original starter and correct Delco battery all the way to its Harrison firewall components and Delco Moraine brake booster, adds a feeling of authenticity to the painted and decaled engine bay. And, as expected, a correct 3969854 casting number, a correct "CTW" assembly stamp and a matching partial VIN authenticate the powerplant's legendary status. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Naturally, this Chevy's road-ready chassis has been restored to the same high standards as the aforementioned body panels and engine compartment. Behind the stout big block, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 hangs a correct "70-CF" assembly tag opposite a matching partial VIN. That tough gearbox, rebuilt by Snellville, Georgia's Neal Racing Transmissions, twists power to a correct 12-bolt axle. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a heavy-duty F41 sports suspension, which centers factory power steering between stiff springs, boxed control arms and sturdy sway bars. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present, accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned exhaust manifolds dump spent gases in to precise Gardner pipes, which breathe through correct resonators, throaty mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through stylish Super Sport wheels, which lap F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires around stainless trim rings and requisite "SS" center caps. And mostly original, Satin Black floors, fitted with fresh rear wheelhouses during the car's extensive rebuild, serve as the perfect backdrop for a sandblasted and powdercoated frame. INTERIOR Decked in correct Medium Red vinyl, this convertible's fully restored interior feels comfortable and inviting. Its slick Strato bucket front and rear bench seats, which feature factory power adjustment for the car's driver, show virtually no signs of wear. In front of those seats, an original dash hangs a deluxe Chevelle gauge cluster above correct climate controls and a Delco AM/FM radio. Below that dash, fresh carpet centers a traditional horseshoe shifter inside an attractive, stainless-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet, clean, "SS" branded door panels frame factory power windows and factory power door locks. In front of the driver, an NOS cushion-grip steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a power-operated trunk centers a stickered spare and correct jack between a fresh mat and correct decklid decals. And even though the Mopar camp does a pretty good job of representing brute force, and the blue oval boys had their fair share of big engine glory, terms like "LS5", "big block" and "Super Sport" are probably some of the first sounds you remember hearing. Thankfully the significance of those terms only grows with time and education, making cars like this impressive LS5-equipped Chevelle all the more desirable. And presently, decked in classic white on black war paint, this award-winning Chevy is the product of an extensive, body-off restoration that fostered a return to factory glory and then some. If you're looking to own one of the world's most sought after muscle cars, this show stopping Super Sport is sorted, polished and ready to please! BODYWORK/TRIM Hailing from GM's acclaimed Kansas City manufacturing facility, this stunning LS5 Super Sport is the beneficiary of a high quality, body-off restoration that's so nice it schools factory survivors. After professional metalwork, which resulted in a straight and solid profile, the car's panels were layered in correct Tuxedo Black basecoat, accented with Classic White rally stripes and sealed in a thick clearcoat shell. Once that clearcoat was allotted sufficient drying time, its surfaces were sanded and buffed into a ripple-free finish that's literally as smooth as glass. And today, this top dog Chevelle sits as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's detailed to better-than-new standards. Many enthusiasts believe the '70 Chevelle introduced a host of excellent refinements that transformed the 'good' design of Chevrolet's '69 model into something 'great'. At the front of this sinister coupe, a familiar crossbar grille hangs a prominent "SS" emblem between a small "CHEVELLE" script, four stainless-trimmed T3s and a fresh chrome bumper. Above that bumper, a functional cowl induction hood anchors rebuilt hide-a-way wipers between new glass, traditional lanyards and pristine stainless trim. At the base of that trim, bright "SS454" badges combine with straight wheel frames, traditional door handles and a flashy chrome mirror to add visual detail to the car's liquid smooth profile. And at the back of that profile, a second chrome bumper centers a black Super Sport inlay between clear brake lights, a classy "Chevelle by Chevrolet" emblem and spotless stainless exhaust tips. ENGINE In 1970, if you wanted a top-of-the-line Chevelle, you had two options. You could order an LS6 car and put up with a moody, uncivilized big block that didn't like running accessories. Or you could order an LS5 car and have a nicely optioned, well-rounded performer that stomped pretty much anything on the street. Either way you'd have an awesome ride, but the irony of the situation is: LS5 cars are actually RARER than LS6 cars! Rolling out of the factory with an impressive 360 horsepower and massive 500 lb./ft. of torque, this Chevelle's correct LS5 454 is fully rebuilt and ready for show. At the top of the big engine, a functional cowl induction system forces wind into a single-snorkel air cleaner that's cinched to a familiar Quadrajet carburetor. At the sides of that carburetor, mirror-like valve covers loom new Packard TV R Suppression cables above correct heads and fully restored exhaust manifolds. At the back of those manifolds, a traditional points distributor stands between a new wiper motor and fresh Delco Moraine brake booster. Opposite that booster, a shrouded radiator circulates water through new GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps. And at the side of those clamps, a fresh Delco Energizer jolts a newly rebuilt alternator. Naturally, the car's Satin Black engine bay and Chevy Orange block are highlighted by a series of factory-accurate markings. And all of the engine's belts, hardware and stainless lines are in the kind of excellent, showroom-fresh condition that ensures big points and great performance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION In case you're wondering, the bottom of this Chevelle is just as clean and correctly restored as its straight body panels and pristine engine bay. The car's rust-free floors are covered in slick Red Oxide. Its fully restored F41 heavy duty suspension, which includes thicker coils, heavy duty shocks, a larger diameter front sway bar, a standard rear sway bar, boxed rear control arms and upper rear cross braces, appears to be in better-than-new condition. Behind the big block, a rugged Muncie Rock Crusher twists power to a 12-bolt, posi-traction rear axle that's built around familiar, 3.31 gears. At the sides of that drivetrain, a chambered, true-dual exhaust system funnels charred dinos through small resonators and spotless stainless tips. At the sides of that exhaust, power front disc and rear drum brakes combine with traditional power steering to provide modern handling ability. At the sides of those brakes, attractive Super Sport wheels spin great looking F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Treads around clean, "SS" branded center caps. And while this Chevy's specs sound pretty straight forward, the quality of its restoration is simply remarkable! INTERIOR Featuring a host of new components, and decked in what is arguably one of the coolest colors offered for the 1970 model year, this Chevelle's correctly restored GM code 787 Medium Red interior is both inviting and unique. Its slick bench seats are firm to the touch, showing no signs of detrimental wear and tear. In front of those seats, a familiar Super Sport dash hangs deluxe telemetry above a correct Delco radio and new Auto Meter accessory gauges. Below that dash, clean red carpet centers a chrome Muncie shifter between Fisher sills and thick, color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, pick-free door panels align spotless stainless trim and requisite "SS" emblems on bright chrome handles and pliable red armrests. In front of the driver, a simple, "SS" branded steering wheel keeps everything pointed straight. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a full-size spare and correct jack assembly between a new mat and fresh decklid decals. You can either spend well into six figures getting one of these stars, or you save enough money for a house and still get this amazing Chevelle, cloned to an SS with big-block power and four on the floor. This coupe has the perfect mix of preservation and restoration. The original Mist Blue paint has been traded in for a more attention grabbing red. What makes this hue particularly impressive is its canvas is a laser straight body with uniform gaps. This one gets the Super Sport touches right, such as chrome side moldings moved from the middle of the car to the lower sills, giving it much cleaner lines and helps accent the sporty Rally wheels. Plus, the black-trim grille, and rear fender badges, just gave these models a nice quiet aggression. This Malibu SS resisted the urge to be modified over the years with ostentatious add-ons. It just has a few subtle bow tie emblems painted to protect from key marks on the door locks. So in total, this one embraces the clean design that delighted new car buyers in the mid-60s with its combination of V8 power, and family car conservative looks. That kind of perseverance makes this one a cherished classic today. Beautiful bucket seats complete with center console are a staple of the '65 SS cars. Having all of this converted from blue to black erased years of use, and also really complements the aggressive red exterior. The factory gauges are in good order, and the SS-specific three-pod setup includes space for the temperature, oil, and battery. The shiny instrument panel has not been messed with, so you still get the placement for the heat/defrost controls and radio. But just below that, a custom panel has been built to allow for the mounting of an AM/FM/CD stereo and auxiliary gauges. So, you can have modern conveniences without ruining the vintage appearance. That big, bold 396 cubic-inch V8 looks right at home under the hood of this Chevelle SS. The block looks dressed for battle in correct Chevy orange paint against the satin black engine bay. Of course what really makes it pop is the set of chrome big block valve covers, and a correct open-element air cleaner with Turbo Jet decals on top. This one has been built to really be driven, with features like the Holley four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition, and the braided steel hoses. That all gives this one a nice reliable feeling on the road, but let's face it, all you really care about is that people hear you coming with the rumbling dual exhaust. And you'll be able to keep this one screaming for as long as you want because you are in complete control thanks to the Borg Warner T10 four-speed manual transmission. But, the feeling of control doesn't end there. This is a power steering car with grippy Goodyear Eagle GTII tires, and disc brakes up front. So you're looking at a Chevelle that is happy eating up the asphalt, or simply going out for a Saturday night cruise. Fast, fun, and handsome, this red SS will make everyone take notice whether at a car show, or just a stoplight. It's a '65 big block of your dreams, at a much more obtainable price. Build sheets, Protect-O-Plates, Certificates Of Authenticity they're all great to have, but none of them make the car better, tighter or faster. Not to mention, they tend to command a pretty serious premium. If you've dreamed of ripping through the gears in a Chevelle LS6 convertible, but just can't bring yourself to finance a classic that'll spend most of its time in bubble wrap, this brilliant tribute is the perfect alternative. Restored and ready to roll, it looks the part, sounds the part, and best of all, FEELS the part. Want a lot of show AND a whole lot of go? Still your gaze on this stunning A-Body! BODYWORK/TRIM There was no shortage of great color options for the legendary Chevelle, but it's hard to argue the effect Cranberry Red has on the car's sturdy lines. Recently massaged and sprayed, this correct and glossy Chevy looks great decked in black Super Sport top stripes and thoroughly buffed clear. Shut lines are straight all around, with rockers, doors and fenders that work well together. There's a roster of new chrome that complements a correct Black top. Naturally, that impressive appearance is a direct result of a body-off, rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2009 by Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania's Tony's Muscle Cars. And today, the car rolls as one high caliber classic that's clean enough to show and nice enough to drive! ENGINE Although the second-generation Super Sport's ferocious Turbo Jet V8 was conservatively rated at 450 horsepower, it actually punched the dyno somewhere north of 500. Pull this classic's stainless lanyards and you'll find a correct cowl induction system that's cleanly integrated into a completely finished, Satin Black frame. At the center of that frame, a correctly decaled, single-snorkel air cleaner forces oxygen in to a correct 4557 Holley, which is threaded onto a 1970-exclusive 3963569 Winters intake. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor sequences fire through Suppressor High Heat Protection wires. Below those wires, correct exhaust manifolds and old school emissions hardware frame date-correct 3964291 heads. And in front of those heads, GM hoses channel water past a correct fan and rebuilt alternator with the help of a beefy radiator and familiar tower clamps. This past year, the Chevy Orange block, which wears a correct 3963512 casting number behind a matching VIN stamp and March ( C ) 31st (31), 1970 (70) casting date, was professionally overhauled by Drake Engines of Rochester, New York. And everything, from the car's fresh brake booster and Delco-topped battery all the way to its stainless fluid lines and mirrored valve covers, looks much nicer than anything that left GM's factories. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Naturally, this convertible's road-ready chassis has been restored to the same high standards as the aforementioned body panels and engine compartment. A traditional coat of Satin Black paint provides a great foundation for a slew of tags, inspection marks and factory-accurate details. Behind the stout big block, a 1970-model Muncie 'Rock Crusher' spins power to a 1970-model 12-bolt axle. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a heavy-duty F41 suspension, which centers factory power steering between stiff springs, boxed control arms and sturdy sway bars. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present, accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned exhaust manifolds dump spent gases in to true-dual pipes, which breathe through Xlerator turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the pavement through stylish Super Sport wheels, which lap F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires around stainless trim rings and requisite "SS" center caps. And the car's soild floors are coated in correct Oxide Red pigment. INTERIOR Featuring a host of new components, and decked in correct Black vinyl, this convertible's fully restored interior feels comfortable and inviting. Its slick front bucket and rear bench seats, which feature embossed weave patterns that were designed to keep passenger's backs cool, show hardly any signs of wear. In front of those seats, a straight and crack-free dash hangs a deluxe Chevelle gauge cluster above correct climate controls and a Delco AM radio. Below that dash, fresh black carpet centers a chrome Muncie shifter inside an attractive, stainless-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet, clean door panels hang spotless "SS" emblems between crank windows and manual door locks. In front of the driver, a satin-spoke Chevrolet Rally Wheel keeps everybody pointed in the right direction. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk centers a full-size spare and correct jack between a fresh mat and correct decklid decals. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONRestoration photosA receipt for the car's engine overhaulA reproduction window sticker At roughly half the cost and twice the fun of a numbers-matching piece, this killer Chevelle is the total package. With a powerful big block, tough Muncie 4-speed and first class restoration, it's a fully sorted classic that virtually spells the term "bragging rights". If you're ready to add some fresh firepower to your automotive arsenal, don't miss the chance to take home this storied Chevrolet legend! With such an original appearance, it's only fitting that this coupe has a street-eating big block under the hood. Add in the right options, and plenty of documentation, and this is an irresistible Super Sport. You've got to love the sleek pillarless coupe body on this SS. You would think that these cars would need big dual stripes on the hood, the hallmarks of most Chevy SS vehicles, but instead this wears the correct white side stripe that emphasizes the gentle arc of the Chevelle's sheetmetal. And let's face it, with a name like LeMans Blue, this paint has no need for racing stripes on the hood. This is not original paint on the car, but instead it has been updated with its 1969-correct color. This means this Chevelle has a much deeper hue than any of its contemporaries that have been around for over 45 years. The chrome on the cars of this year is a bit more understated. They still carry the big bold bumpers that the '60s are famous for, but everything else is used to highlight the aggressive touches, like the rear wheel arches and the bar going across the blacked-out grille. Of course this package wouldn't be complete without the special five-spoke SS wheels. Inside, you see a clean and pristine black bench seat interior, where all the vinyl on the seats and doors still look amazing. The driver gets plenty of goodies. You will rest your left hand on the three-spoke sports steering wheel, and your right one will just always gravitate to the new Hurst shifter. Plus, there's a set of auxiliary gauges, so you always know that's going on in the engine bay. But since this A-body has room to easily carry five more people, you keep everyone comfortable with features like the original heater/defroster, and upgraded AM/FM/cassette player with modern digital tuner. All the horsepower you'll be enjoying is compliments of a thundering 396 cubic-inch L34 big block V8, that's been properly dressed in bright Chevy Orange paint and chrome valve covers. Situated between the satin black fender wells, this classic BBC looks fairly stock, and that's because it almost is. This is a suffix code CE warranty replacement block that was installed in 1969. It gives this car an interesting lineage that is similar to numbers-matching because all work is Chevy official, but it's a much more entertaining story to tell at the car shows. This monster motor breathes nicely thanks to the recent rebuild of the Rochester Quadrajet 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor, and a Dynomax dual exhaust system. All this power reliably gets to the road thanks to the Muncie M21, close-ratio, four-speed manual transmission and the stout 12-bolt rear end. As much as this is a true muscle car, there's plenty of everyday drivability features such as front disc brakes, and modern BF Goodrich tires. This SS big block 396 comes with exactly what you want, including the factory buildsheet, and original bill of sale. The only thing that's left is for someone to step up, and enjoy it as their own. We won't blame you if you skip ahead and just call us now, but everyone else can continue to read the rest of the details on this sweet ride. This is the kind of muscle car the draws attention and makes others jealous. A shiny black Chevelle, with chrome in all the right places like cowl induction hood, extra wide bumpers, and the trim that outlines every inch of glass. Everything else is covered in an intimidating darkness that highlights the super straight body. But just in case some were not taking notice to the midnight hero attitude, Chevrolet left extra hints on every side of the car with special SS 396 badging on the chrome grille and dark rear panel, as well as the bold "Super Sport" script on each rear fender. And of course, no aggressive Chevy is complete without the cool Rally wheel package. The interior is just as imposing as the exterior. The deep black on the seats, doors, carpets, and dash are all products of a good restoration. The buckets are upgraded factory package code 763 when new, which makes them an attention-getter today. This package also gets a center console to frame the bright gearshift, and working clock. The view from the driver's seat is amazing. You get a three-spoke SS sports steering wheel, with its brightness continuing on the factory dash that includes 60s-cool items like the extra wide speedometer and heat/defrost controls. You can tell no expense was spared in here because pretty much no detail was missed. Lift the hood and see that the callouts on the SS badges were certainly not lying. The engine is a 396 cubic-inch big-block Chevy V8. This big, bad motor has most of its components barely broken in, with only 1,000 miles on the engine since its rebuild. It's nicely dressed in a proper coat of Chevy Orange. Plus, it continues with the big-block SS tradition of chrome valve covers and a bright chrome air cleaner. The motor exhales deeply through Hooker competition headers that connect to a FlowMaster dual exhaust. If you look at the undercarriage pictures, you'll notice how fresh this setup looks, and that's because the installation is only a few years old. You can get the most out of this monster motor thanks to a four-speed manual transmission, and it should provide reliable power delivery for years to come thanks to a new Centerforce Performance clutch. Control over this Chevelle is no problem thanks to power steering and sticky Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires. This is an intimidating big-block coupe that has the exact right look, and sound to back it up. You're not the only one who's been looking for a 396 Chevelle SS like this, so we know looking this good, it won't last long in our showroom. This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle is one of those coupes you'll fall in love with instantly. Marina Blue never looks wrong on a Chevy of any kind, but the mid-year Chevelles look especially sleek with their long, unadorned appearance. It's nice to see all the right indicators for performance, ranging from the SS grille to the crossed-flag emblems on the front fenders warning potential predators that there's a nasty surprise waiting for them. No stripes, no vinyl roof, no add-ons, just a clean, sleek Chevelle that looks fast just sitting still. Lots of the trim is new, including the bumpers, and much of the stainless detail work, so it truly shines when you roll it out of the garage into the sunlight. Even the glass was recently replaced, including new gaskets, weather-stripping, and felts added within the last few years. Inside is exactly what you want to see in a coupe like this. Pristine black vinyl on the seats, doors, and dash, with just the right amount of excellent exterior blue mixed in for a cool accent. Plus, everyone loves the look of that B&M sports shifter brightly standing out in the middle. It might look like this was lifted higher for better prominence, but it's also a practical upgrade that makes it more comfortable to drive. Speaking of comfort, this Chevelle also comes with ice cold air conditioning that runs on modern R-134a for easy servicing. Factory gauges cover speed and fuel level, but with a car like this, you know that's not sufficient. So a set of auxiliary gauges went under the dash while still in your sight-line. And don't worry about entertainment, because if you get tired of the V8 torque under your right foot, there's an AM/FM stereo radio in the dash that fits so neatly you'd almost swear it was factory-installed. The 283 cubic-inch V8 packs a nice punch with plenty of performance upgrades...and boy does it sound like its got a big pop. There's lots of new equipment underneath the skin too, including a new master cylinder, Hotchkiss sway bars, upgraded rear control arms, and new Positraction rear end running a 3.73 ratio, so it's ready to go. The dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers certainly knows how to get attention. Plus, those shiny chrome wheels and fat 225/60/15 BF Goodrich tires set it all off perfectly. While all these are aggressive touches, this one is still a comfortable cruiser, with features like a desirable 700R4 four-speed overdrive automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes. Clean turn-key Chevelles are getting harder to find all the time, and if you're looking to just get in and start having fun, this one represents a very attractive way to do it. Brilliantly refinished in its factory correct color of Le Mans Blue, this SS certainly looks the part of the era's most potent street car. Plus, the lower panel white stripe is a great way to grab some unique attention. All of this has been part of a restoration that gives this Chevelle exceptional body gaps and smooth action on the wide doors. Shiny chrome bumpers, bright stainless window trim, and the proper SS badges all add to the very authentic look. Plus, the five-star wheels add a nice touch of aggression, especially since the larger rear tires promotes a stance that really brings out the fastback styling in this sports coupe. Black bucket seats are what you get with this factory code 756 interior. The original console is excellent, and comes complete with everyone's favorite horseshoe shifter. This coupe feels exceptionally original inside, starting with the three-spoke sports steering wheel, and beyond that, all the vents, gauges, and even the heat/defrost control have that great classic GM look and feel. The Chevelle might have been Chevy's midsize car, but it's clear from these pictures that there's room for the whole family. The engine is a period-correct 396 cubic-inch V8 that has been nicely dressed in a proper coat of Chevy Orange. Chrome valve covers and a bright chrome air cleaner were standard issue on big block SS models in 1969, and this one does a nice modern take on that idea. In fact, the whole engine bay looks tidy enough that it's already ready for the car show. Then again, you might not want to stop driving this one because the long tube headers, and FlowMaster dual exhaust, make an exceptionally irresistible noise when you mash the accelerator. This motor has a very unique, higher performance bark to it. And it's not hard to control all of this power thanks to features like the stout TH400 automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes. This '69 Chevelle SS represents a wonderful opportunity to own a big block, with show car looks that you can still drive without worries. If you're ready to hit the streets in a stunning muscle car, here's your fully sorted blast from the past! BODY Restored to roughly the same state in which it rolled out of GM's Arlington factory, this Chevelle features an arrow-straight body that hides virtually no imperfections. Naturally, the car's fit and finish has benefitted from over 40 years of improved build techniques. It's correct Tuxedo Black 2-stage is super reflective and much nicer than original lacquer. And Antique White stripes and a fresh white top, which replaced an original black top, are tight, right and ready to ride. At the front of the car, a correct Super Sport grille centers a pristine, white-inlayed emblem between familiar T3 headlights. Behind that grille, an optional ZL-2 cowl induction hood is complete with correct stainless pins. And an array of prominent "SS" emblems stands out like skid marks on sun-bleached blacktop. DRIVETRAIN In 1971, the biggest and baddest engine you could shove between the fenders of a Chevrolet passenger car was the mighty LS5 454. And, according to the factory, this coupe's original LS5, which hangs a familiar 3963512 casting number behind a correct "CPA" suffix stamp and matching partial VIN, twists 365 horsepower into an impressive 550 lb./ft. of torque! That massive twist flows through a tough Muncie 4-speed on its way to a sturdy 12-bolt axle. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a familiar F41 Special Performance Suspension, which is equipped with factory power steering, heavy-duty sway bars, boxed control arms, and stiffer springs and shocks. That hardware floats between rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brakes. Spent gases exit through high performance, true-dual pipes that are finished with factory replacement mufflers. Power flows through monochromatic Super Sport wheels and fresh, G70-15 Firestone tires. And, aesthetically, this road ready Chevelle's fresh exterior transitions nicely into a Satin Black chassis that perfectly contrasts vivid Chevy Orange block paint. INTERIOR Featuring a correct Black interior, this convertible's crisp cockpit is both simple and inviting. Its slick bucket and bench seat combo is firm to the touch and shows no signs of wear at all. In front of those thrones, a straight Super Sport dash hangs deluxe telemetry above a correct radio and factory air conditioning. Below that dash, a stainless-trimmed console anchors a modern Hurst shifter between color-keyed floor mats. In front of the driver, a simple steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hides a full-size spare tire. With its incredible motor, lust-worthy body and proven Super Sport chassis, this Chevelle is the very definition of muscle car. If you're in the market for a top-notch classic that can win trophies and literally own the street, don't miss your chance to take home a storied Chevrolet legend! The list is short but the 1969 Chevelle SS is definitely one of those cars. Gaining a following that few Chevrolet's have seen outside of the tri-five world, nice examples never stick around our showroom for long. This amazing 1969 Chevelle SS convertible is sure to continue that trend. Featuring an L78 396 mated to the original CX code TH400 automatic transmission, this is thought to be one of just 36 Chevelle convertibles to receive this drivetrain. Add in rare factory options, such as the 8-track player, and the desirability factor practically goes through the roof. Though these cars are notoriously difficult to authenticate without a build sheet, the car does have a copy of its original punch card and a letter from Chevelle guru Jeff Dotterer explaining his belief that the car is a true L78 SS. If you're ready to claim a piece of rare GM metal, this 1969 Chevelle SS convertible is definitely worth a closer look. BODYWORK/TRIM Widely regarded as some of the most underrated work to ever leave a GM design studio, the 1969 Chevelle wears a distinctly sculpted body with tapered front fenders, a rounded beltline and Chevrolet's hallmark long-hood/short-deck profile. It's a familiar shape and one that served General Motors well with over half a million A-bodies built and sold during the 1969 model year. The subject of an extensive restoration, this '69 convertible looks showroom fresh with straight panels and crisp lines all around. While Garnet Red or Monaco Orange may be the overall fan favorites, few colors complement the Chevelle's lines quite like Le Mans Blue. The paintwork is first rate with no notable flaws within sight. Accented by a classic white Super Sport stripe, the car's exterior hints at the monster under its hood without looking overly aggressive or gimmicky. The Le Mans Blue shell is topped off with show-quality factory trim that returns the car to showroom condition. At the front of the car, four T3 headlights flank a new Super Sport grille, which centers a prominent "SS 396" emblem between laser straight bars and a fresh chrome bumper. At the top of that grille a showroom fresh "Chevelle by Chevrolet" script occupies the header panel which perfectly complementing chrome SS-exclusive hood louvers. With the exception of the windshield, rear window and one piece of quarter glass, all glass is date coded and in great shape for its age. At the base of that glass, correct chrome mirrors and traditional chrome door handles combine with correct "SS396" fender emblems and dent-free stainless wheel well trim to give the car a clean finished appearance. At the back of the profile, new Super Sport tail lights hang between a second "Chevelle by Chevrolet" emblem, two spotless exhaust tips and a traditional black decklid cove which centers a fourth "SS396" emblem above a second body-width chrome bumper. ENGINE Lift the hood and you'll find a correct L78 big block that wears a familiar 3969854 casting number. Unless you lived near one of the major Chevrolet performance dealers or knew the correct path through the options list, getting an L78 Chevelle off the lot was a formidable challenge that limited the number built to 9,486 according to most sources. What's more, this L78 is equipped with an impressive list of date-coded parts cataloged by Chevelle master Jeff Dotterer. Oxygen and fuel enter the mill's combustion chambers through a freshly decaled air cleaner, new stainless fluid lines, and a reliable Holley carburetor. Below that carburetor a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange covers the block from its correct Winters intake all the way to its stamped steel oil pan. At the back of that intake a correct points distributor shoots spark through eight Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables bright chrome valve covers perfectly contrast correct, professionally restored exhaust manifolds. In front of those valve covers a fresh Delco battery rides next to a heavy-duty radiator that's equipped with GM branded hoses and familiar tower clamps. And the whole setup shows exceptionally well, with satin black fenders and factory grease markings painstakingly recreated. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Underneath the convertible, the high quality restoration continues. The centerpiece is the original CX code Special High Performance TH400 automatic transmission that was unique to the 375hp and 427/425hp cars due to its specially calibrated shift points and heavy-duty converter. The transmission case displays a 38628388 casting number with a correct 198390030 partial VIN, verifying its place as original equipment. From there, power is transferred down the driveline to a 12-bolt rear end packed with 3.73 gears. Around that drivetrain, the impressive F41 suspension remains in place. It utilizes firm springs and a large sway bar up front, a four link and coil springs out back and firm shocks at all four corners for consistent performance through the twisties. The rear also benefits from a large rear sway bar and braced upper arms that assist in handling the L78's massive torque. Power steering makes turning the A-body a breeze while power disc brakes rein in the big block quickly and efficiently. At the corners, date-coded 14x6 sport wheels wrapped in F70x14 wide oval bias belt tires connect the chassis to road while keeping the factory look intact. INTERIOR While this car left the assembly line with a Medium Blue bench-seat interior, LeMans Blue and Parchment suit the A-bodies so well that it's hard to fault anyone for straying away from the original build sheet. Chevelle interiors were never flashy and over-dressed but, rather, functional and stylish - perfect for the performance cars in which they live. This driver's compartment has been expertly restored to a very high standard with new materials used throughout. The Strato-bucket seats feature fresh foam under the new cushions and new stainless trim. New stainless trim and bright "SS 396" emblems highlight new door panels. Overhead, a white convertible top keeps the elements out while new black carpets and floor mats keep the use of white tasteful. The black dash is all new and houses a speedometer, a 7,000rpm tachometer, an optional electric clock and small fuel, temperature, oil pressure and amps gauges. The car also retains its rare factory 8-track player, which still works perfectly. Connecting the driver to the road is a standard black steering wheel that spins around an optional tilt column. In the back, the trunk is fully restored with spatter finish paint, a new trunk mat, and a full-sized spare with restored jack assembly. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONA copy of the car's original punch cardAn original Owner's ManualA letter from Jeff Dotterer, which breaks the car down in great detail With a timeless look and one of the most desirable engines in the 1969 GM catalog, this Chevelle is the stuff dreams are made of. Too much performance just wasn't enough, and user friendliness was exchanged for a healthy combination of style, attitude and danger. Just take a look at this award-winning Chevelle, a car that wraps rare Golden Brown Metallic paint around butch styling, serious big block power and the kind of hardware that's become the stuff of legend. 1 of only 28 1972 SS454 convertibles known to exist, and concours restored with a roster of original and NOS components, THIS is the blue chip muscle car that EVERY octane-fueled gearhead wants to own. And now, thanks to your like-minded friends at RK Motors Charlotte, you can drive one home in better-than-new condition! If you want to be admired by your neighbors, envied by your car club, and loathed by the kid at the local stoplight, pick up the phone and pick up your new Chevelle! As muscle car enthusiasts, we all know it can be very hard to prove GM provenance. Fortunately, the folks at USA-1 had the foresight to equip 1972 Chevelles with Super Sport-specific check digits. Here's a detailed look at the car's VIN and color confirming cowl tag. VIN: 1D67W2B6678901 - ChevroletD - Malibu67 - 2-door convertibleW - 454 cubic inch LS5 V82 - 1972 model yearB - Assembled in Baltimore, Maryland667890 - Production sequence number COWL TAG72 - 1972 model year13667 - 1: Chevrolet, 36: Malibu, 67: 2-door convertibleB - Assembled in Baltimore, Maryland613334 Production sequence number704 Black Elk coated fabric interiorA52 Bench seats57 - Golden Brown Metallic paintB - Black top05C - Assembled during the third week of May, 19720526 - Data processing number 1 of roughly 70 Chevelle SS454 convertibles produced for the 1972 model year, and the only 1972 Chevelle SS454 convertible painted GM code 57 Golden Brown Metallic, this super cool cruiser wears its striking coat of correct two-stage exceptionally well. Under that high quality paint, an incredibly straight fuselage hangs solid panels that, barring their thorough massage during a body-off restoration, appear to have lead a quiet, drama-free existence. Those massaged panels feature-better-than factory alignment and, when opened and closed, sound solid and function well. That functional body's combination of excellent reflections and Kansas-flat surfaces suggests many labor-intensive hours were spent blanketing every inch of its metal with top-notch finish work. And one close look at our high resolution photos reveals a striped and polished Chevy that's ready to run the street and rule the show! By the early 70s, the Chevelle had become one of America's best-selling cars. And Chevrolet continued to introduce subtle refinements that met increasingly strict crash standards while maintaining the model's handsome and distinct profile. At the front of this sublime drop-top, a monochromatic, "CHEVELLE" branded grille centers a prominent "SS" emblem between two AACA plaques, two Power Beam headlights and a fresh chrome bumper. Above that grille, a functional cowl induction hood anchors rebuilt hide-a-way wipers between new pins, pristine stainless trim and like-new glass that's capped by a fresh black top. At the sides of that hood, bright badging and single-unit marker lamps perfectly complement straight wheel frames, traditional door handles and a subtle sport mirror. And at the back of the car, a second chrome bumper centers a second "SS" emblem between classy tail lights, a pristine "Chevelle by Chevrolet" script and spotless stainless exhaust tips. In 1972, the biggest and baddest motor you could shove between the fenders of a Chevrolet passenger car was the mighty LS5. And this car's original 454, which hangs a familiar 3999289 casting number behind a correct "CRW" suffix stamp and matching partial VIN, twists 270 horsepower into an impressive 390 lb./ft. of torque. At the top of the mighty mill, functional cowl induction funnels wind into an original Quadrajet carburetor that's threaded onto fresh stainless fuel lines. Below that carburetor, a sea of Chevy Orange paint spreads from the engine's original intake and original, cast iron heads all the way to its original starter and original, cast iron exhaust manifolds. At the back of those manifolds, an original points distributor shoots fire through eight Packard TV R Suppression cables. And in front of those cables, a reproduction Delco battery complements an original radiator and correct plastic fan shroud. Aesthetically, this road ready Chevelle's fresh exterior paint transitions nicely into a Satin Black engine bay that features a very high level of detail. New GM hoses, with appropriate tower clamps, snake around clean Harrison air conditioning and a correct Frigidaire compressor. And all the familiar extraneous bits, like the car's original water pump, original alternator housing and factory-correct smog equipment are present, sorted and fully accounted for. The theme of 'road ready' extends under this fully restored Super Sport, where you'll find super clean floors and a rebuilt, factory-accurate chassis. Behind the stout engine, a rugged GM Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed sends power to a 12-bolt, posi-traction rear end that's fitted with correct 3.31 gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a correct option F41 double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension that's equipped with factory power steering, heavy duty sway bars and date-correct shock absorbers. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present, accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases into high performance, true-dual pipes that mix baritone turbo mufflers with traditional, rear-mounted resonators. And power flows to the pavement via monochromatic Super Sport wheels and correct F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs. The car's frame, free of any major damage, is painted black to match its solid satin floors. And, in keeping with its raucous 454, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevelle is painted, tagged and virtually spotless! Featuring a host of new components, and decked in classic black vinyl, this coupe's fully restored interior is both comfortable and inviting. Its slick front bucket and rear bench seats, which feature embossed weave patterns that were designed to keep passenger's backs cool, show hardly any signs of wear. In front of those seats, a straight and crack-free dash hangs deluxe Chevelle gauges above a correct Delco radio. Below that dash, fresh black carpet, which is protected by rugged rubber floor mats, centers a chrome horseshoe shifter inside an attractive, stainless-trimmed console. At the edge of that carpet, clean side panels hang spotless stainless trim and prerequisite "SS" emblems above chrome door hardware and small, pliable armrests. In front of the driver, a simple, "SS" branded steering wheel laps an optional tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk centers a full-size tire and correct jack assembly between a fresh mat and correct decklid decals. Naturally, this pristine Chevelle is the recipient of many distinguished awards. Here's a short list of the car's major accolades:Scored 99.75% at the 2013 Maryland Chevelle Club All Chevelle ShowAwarded First Place, Best Muscle at the 2011 Kuwait Concours d'EleganceAwarded AACA Senior Grand National First Prize at the 2010 AACA Grand National MeetAwarded AACA Senior National First Prize at the 2008 AACA National Meet The sale of this awesome A-Body includes a showboard, restoration photos, a large display of historic marketing materials, and lists of the car's essential numbers and accomplishments. There's no question that this slick brown Chevy is the total package! With a king-of-the-mountain big block, unmatched exclusivity and a fresh, concours-level restoration, it was and still remains an excellent example of 'bragging rights' muscle. If you're ready to put some first class firepower in your automotive arsenal, pick up the phone and enlist this spectacular Chevelle convertible! It is a true Super Sport (we have the original window sticker to prove it) and every inch shines from a painstaking amount of custom work. You can tell there's something special about this Malibu SS from as far off as across the show field. The original red color has been transformed into a beautiful electric blue. It shines nearly as bright as the Torq Thrust wheels. This drop-top has laser-straight lines thanks to its complete frame off restoration. Look at this car closely and you'll find that the workmanship is outstanding. Not merely nice, but good enough that people stop and remark about what a pretty car it is. Early Malibus have exceptionally clean lines and with a distinct lack of chrome and trim, it is particularly important that the bodywork be right. The details are crisp, especially the flared rear quarter panels that are the car's defining feature, as well as the crisply contoured hood that bears a familial resemblance to its big brother, the Impala. Chrome is excellent, and the bright details like the taillight surround and front grille have been beautifully restored. Someone invested big to make this car look this good. The interior is quite far from stock, but it keeps all the right original touches. The best place this can be understood is on the black vinyl interior. A true SS needs bucket seats. This one delivers with the same low-back proportions as all 1964 Malibu SS cars, but it has been upgraded with a more striking pattern that offers better bolstering for all-day comfort. The driver gets the classic shine of the Chevy wheel, but behind it is a new set of Dakota Digital VHX gauges. These have a cool nighttime blue glow that coordinates with the custom paint and the interior accent stripe. The original AM radio is still in place to keep the chrome of the dash intact, but your real tunes come from an AM/FM/CD changer unit stealthily mounted in the open space below the dash. Pop the hood and you'll find that the original 283 cubic-inch small block has been given a serious upgrade to a much younger and more powerful 350 V8. The two-speed powerglide automatic was also upgraded to a much more versatile three-speed unit. But for those who like the original powertrain, all of the numbers-matching components can be had in a separate deal with the owner. Personally, we enjoy the added power and usefulness of the upgrades already installed on this SS convertible. It makes for an intimidating symphony from the dual exhaust. Plus, the extra range of the new automatic matches well with the power steering and power brakes with a front disc upgrade. It gives this convertible the feeling that it can be an all-day cruiser. This is the kind of convertible you drive out of our showroom and take right to the car show. It is a great mix of a custom convertible with all the important original pieces intact and/or readily available. With quality and looks like this it wont last long under our showroom lights...call now!! 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale Stock # 3011-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Some combinations are so iconic that you can picture them in your sleep, and this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is the muscle car of your dreams. This coupe was resprayed from its original Cortez Silver into the desirable factory shade of Cranberry Red, and the paint was so well done that Chevelle World magazine was happy to feature this car. The legendary shape of the 1970 Chevelle looks like it was tailor-made for the black SS stripe package. It has an aggressive look that the pristine chrome accents can't even outshine. The cowl induction hood is a must-have on a Chevelle, and this one looks great with hood pins at the corners. The blacked out grille and SS badge up front are pure intimidation in any other car's rear view mirror. The final piece to this mega muscle package is the set of correct sport wheels with SS badging and period-correct Goodyear Polyglas reproduction tires. Step inside, and the festival of red continues. The original 787-code vinyl has been expertly maintained and restored in this Chevelle's 45 years. This six-passenger rapid express has all of great Malibu textures, plus the correct SS badging on the door and steering wheel. You can use the reproduction window sticker to check off all the original features are still in place - from the AM radio to the manual transmission. You should especially like the optional U14 instrumental package that not only added an integrated tachometer next to the speedo, but it also replaced the idiot lights for real gauges to monitor the vitals of the monster motor. Yes, that is the original numbers-matching big-block V8 you see in the pictures. While the car was called the 396 SS, the motor actually displaced 402 cubic-inches. If that wasn't enough, this coupe was optioned with the rare and desirable L78 option package. This V8 was advertised at a dominating 375 hp, and every bit of is makes one heck of a rumble from the dual exhaust. Whoever ordered this Super Sport really knew what they were doing, because they mated the motor to Muncie M21 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. All of this power hits the streets via 12-bolt Positraction rear end running a 4.10 ratio to be quick off the line. But there's more to this Chevelle than just pure street-eating power. It's a manual steering car with power brakes and discs up front. That means this super Chevy can cruise all night before you head to the dragstrip. There has been a lot of care that went into keeping this desirably-optioned 396 SS looking factory fresh. We could show you the included maintenance records, owner's manual, restoration receipts, and two factory buildsheets, but you just need to stick your head underneath and see the immaculate undercarriage to understand the superior level of care. This Chevelle SS is a show-stopper and a show-winner. 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle for Sale Stock # 3092-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. And it takes some serious skill to pull off a build that is TRULY different without being too extreme to honor the car's original attributes or a blatant pro-tourer. The beneficiary of an 11-year, ground-up restoration, this awesome Chevelle has been fully worked, fitted with a balanced and blueprinted 427 and decked in traditional Yenko war paint. But here's the best part, it isn't just another rare showpiece that's a practice in moribund competition and garage queen gimmicks. This coupe is a fully sorted, big block rocket that's ready to put the "Super" back in "Yenko Super Car". If you're searching for some old school Chevrolet muscle that wraps killer performance in outstanding looks, your Chevelle has arrived! BODYWORK/TRIM One can't help but smile when they look at a Chevelle this cool. Assembled in Baltimore, Maryland, it's everything car guys dream of from the first time they say "muscle car" to the day they trade their high octane V8 for an electric rascal motor. Decked in PPG Tuxedo Black 2-stage, and displaying a traditional array of Yenko Super Car stripes, this Chevy is the product of a detailed, 11-year restoration that started with a solid body and fresh NOS fenders. Its profile is a carefully orchestrated combination of excellent panel gaps, doors that close better than new, and a flat finish that stretches from tip to tail. And presently, its appearance is much, much better than any mass-produced original from the '60s, carrying a super clean shine on top of impressive, high quality metalwork! By 1969, Chevrolet's Chevelle had earned the tagline "America's most popular mid-size car". And GM, knowing not to mess with a good thing when they see it, rang in the new model year with minimal aesthetic changes. At the front of this coupe, a trademark crossbar grille centers a prominent blue bowtie between a re-chromed bumper, clean parking lamps and clear T3 headlights. Behind that grille, an SS-exclusive hood anchors finned louvers between a flashy "Chevelle" header and pristine greenhouse glass that's traced in straight stainless and fresh vinyl. Below that glass, bright Yenko badges and small marker lamps float between bright door handles, a correct chrome mirror and dent-free wheel well trim. And at the back of the car, a correct black valance centers dueled Yenko emblems between clear taillights, a flashy "Chevelle" deck script, a second re-chromed bumper and polished exhaust tips. ENGINE Check this Chevy's clean engine bay and you'll find a balanced and blueprinted 427 that was donated by a 1968 Corvette. As it sits, this Chevelle is a classic answer to the question of what to do when your car's original powerplant experiences failure: install a bigger one, of course! And judging by the dyno-tuned mill's awesome looks and great performance, "bigger" seems like a natural solution. Oxygen and fuel enter the combustion chambers through a polished and decaled air cleaner, fresh stainless fluid lines and big Holley 4-barrel. Below that carburetor, a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange covers the block from the base of its Winters aluminum intake all the way to the bottom of its stamped steel oil pan. At the back of that intake, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through eight MSD Super Conductor plug wires. Below those cables, bright chrome valve covers perfectly contrast Winters aluminum heads, which seat solid lifters over stock exhaust manifolds. And, at the front of those valve covers, pliable GM hoses snake through authentic tower clamps to a heavy-duty radiator that's mounted beside a clean, Delco-topped battery. Aesthetically, this road ready Chevelle's glossy exterior paint is perfectly complemented by a monochromatic engine bay that's been detailed to a very high level. All the right extraneous bits, like factory power brakes and factory power steering, are present and accounted for. And if you think this description sounds good, just wait 'til you hear the big block run! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Underneath this impressive A-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis and solid, original floorpans that, like the car's glossy exterior panels and lust worthy engine, have been restored to very high standards. At the center of those floors, an era-correct Muncie sends power to a rebuilt GM 12-bolt that spins big, 4.10 gears inside a posi-traction differential. Holding that stellar drivetrain in place is a beefy F41 Sports Suspension, which was fully tagged during the restoration and features factory power steering and correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust flows through correctly chambered pipes to small, rear mounted mufflers. And power meets to the pavement through slick American Racing Torq Thrust Ds, which spin F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports. In keeping with the 427, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevy is clean and ready to go. Naturally, all the car's weathered bits were replaced during its extensive rebuild. Its floors wear a smooth coat of black paint. And items such as a new stainless fuel tank, fresh stainless fluid lines and standard stainless hardware ensure years of carefree cruising. INTERIOR Open this second generation Chevelle's solid doors and you'll find an attractive red interior which appears to have been completely replaced during the car's extensive restoration. Centered in those new components is a trio of fresh seats that's fitted with familiar "sYc" branded headrests. Above those thrones, a tight headliner shows none of the drying or fading that's typical of vintage cars. Opposite that headliner, like-new carpet anchors a traditional Hurst shifter inside a sculpted console and thick floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, stainless-trimmed door panels add a little visual pop. At the front of those panels, an ornate dash founds optional Deluxe Instrumentation over small Stewart Warner accessory gauges and a correct Delco Blue Light Stereo. In front of the driver, a reproduction Chevrolet Rally Wheel laps a tilting column that's topped by a large Stewart Warner tachometer. And behind the cockpit, the car's fully restored trunk wraps a fifth American Racing wheel and fifth Firestone tire in a correct jack, a new mat and correct decklid decals. Over the past five years, RK Motors Charlotte has retailed more big block Chevelles than any company in the world. That said; this awesome Yenko tribute is probably one of the coolest A-Bodies we've ever offered. If you're in the market for a unique muscle car with an unbeatable combination of style and performance, you're looking at your next classic! When you throw in a complete, body-off restoration, you end up with a tire-melting conversation starter that everyone stops to look at! This top-notch cruiser is a real deal Super Sport that mixes an era-correct 396/4-speed drivetrain with a professional, road ready restoration. And if you're one of the growing number of enthusiasts who wants to actually enjoy the performance, look and value of Chevrolet's ultimate muscle car, it's your opportunity to turn someone else's toil into your new pastime! BODYWORK/TRIM During its thorough reboot, this solid old Chevy was entirely disassembled and completely striped of its dull, original pigment. Once that Grecian Green was removed, an incredibly straight fuselage was augmented with a bit of fresh sheetmetal. As that massaged sheetmetal featured better-than-factory alignment, a rich coat of Tuxedo Black base was sealed in a glossy layer of clear. When that clear dried, a Matador Red stripe was followed with many labor-intensive hours of sanding and buffing. And today, one close look at our high-resolution pictures reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest Chevrolet muscle cars on the planet! For 1968, the freshly updated Chevelle sported a brand new look that featured tapered fenders, a rounded beltline and a classic long hood/short deck profile. At the front of the car, a broad, SS-exclusive grille centers a prominent "SS396" emblem between correct T3s, a bright "Chevelle" script and a factory-fresh bumper that's fitted with clear marker lamps. Behind that grille, an SS-exclusive hood props finned louvers in front of pristine glass, a correct vinyl roof and straight stainless frames. Below that hood, new door handles perfectly complement a fresh chrome mirror, dent-free rocker trim and classy, "396" branded marker lamps. And at the back of the car, an SS-exclusive valance centers a prominent "SS396" emblem between small taillights, a second chrome bumper and clear reverse lamps. ENGINE Lift this coupe's double-domed hood and you'll find an era-correct 396 that's one of the most powerful and memorable engines Chevrolet ever created. Oxygen and fuel enter the block's combustion chambers through a highly polished air cleaner, new stainless fluid lines and a big Holley carburetor. Below that carb, a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange covers the block from its intake all the way to its stamped oil pan. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor shoots spark through eight AC Delco Premium Wires. Below those wires, bright chrome valve covers reflect professionally restored exhaust manifolds. And in front of those valve covers, a Delco-topped battery rides next to a heavy-duty radiator that's cinched to GM-branded hoses via familiar tower clamps. Aesthetically, this road ready Chevelle's glossy exterior perfectly contrasts a smooth, Satin Black engine bay that's complete with correct decals and appropriate grease marks. High quality extraneous bits, like a fresh brake booster, a rebuilt alternator and a tough Saginaw steering box, are present and accounted for. And if you think this description sounds good, just wait 'til you hear the big mill run! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under this impressive A-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis and super solid floorpans that, like the car's clean exterior panels and lust worthy engine, have been restored to very high standards. At the center of those floors, a rugged Muncie 4-speed hangs a Muncie (P) assembled on February (B) 1st (01) of 1968 (8) assembly stamp below a correct 3925660 casting number and matching partial VIN. That tough transmission twists torque to a rebuilt GM 12-bolt that spins pleasant, highway-friendly gears. Holding that stellar drivetrain in place is a fully restored suspension that features power-assisted drum brakes. Exhaust flows through aluminized pipes to aggressive Pypes Race Pro mufflers. Power meets the pavement via painted and capped steelies, which wear vintage looking G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines. And, in keeping with the 396 up top, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevelle is clean and 100% road ready! INTERIOR Open this Chevy's solid doors and you'll find an attractive Black interior that was completely replaced during the car's extensive restoration. Centered in those new components is a trio of fresh bench and bucket seats that are fitted with high quality covers and bright stainless hardware. Below those seats, like-new carpet anchors a traditional Hurst shifter inside a factory-correct console. At the edges of that carpet, fresh, fade-free side panels give the cockpit much needed visual pop. Above those panels, a tight black headliner shows none of the drying or fading that's typical of vintage cars. In front of the driver, a Chevrolet Rally Wheel laps a warp-free dash, SS-specific trim and an old school roller tach. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk sandwiches a full-size spare between a new mat, a correct jack and fresh decklid decals. If a run-of-the-mill Camaro or Nova simply won't do, this high-quality Chevelle is your perfect solution! Building any classic to the show-worthy level of this Chevy will probably cost about twice our asking price. And, even if you started today, it would be at least a year before that project began resembling a finished car. Why not give in to temptation and let this awesome Super Sport show you exactly what instant gratification is all about! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final.
