You know, the cars that were little more than full-tilt race pieces that you could buy right off the showroom floor. Today, such cars are highly sought prizes for serious collectors, and this stunning 1964 Dodge 440 is one of the most amazing machines we've featured. It is #5 of only five (yes, five) built with a 426 Street Wedge, a 4-speed manual, and precious little else. Even more amazing is that this one shows only 2681 original miles (not a misprint, but you know how those miles were accumulated), and it was recently given a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration by the pros at the RKM Performance Center. If you're a fan of double-throwdown early Mopar muscle, this car is a must-have. The great thing about these factory hot rods was that they were all engine and precious little else. This one comes with its original window sticker and Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet showing that the only option installed was a heater, plus seatbelts, which were mandatory in the car's home state of California. In the years that followed, it was a familiar sight at local drag strips, and it was undoubtedly a tough machine to beat no matter what you were driving. But eventually the rigors of racing caught up with the Dodge, and the engine was pulled and the body tucked away. For the next forty years, it rested comfortably in a California garage where it was protected from the elements in a way that few cars of its era were. It was rediscovered in 2008 and delivered to our shop where the beautifully preserved original interior was removed and stored, and the body was carefully stripped of its tired original finish. The original sheet metal was in great shape and needed very little bodywork, but many hours were invested to get it into its current breathtaking condition. The original red paint was exactly duplicated in two-stage urethane and applied over the freshly massaged sheetmetal, which now fits better than any factory-made Mopar in history. Gaps are excellent throughout, the finish is concours quality, and there's not a mark on the car. The car also includes two hoods, the original flat hood as well as a Max Wedge hood that really gives it some attitude. At the same time, all the original trim was polished and reinstalled, including the original grille, emblems, and bumpers. That striking white trim strip that stretches the length of the body? Original. The square tail light lenses? Original. Heck, even the little Chrysler Pentastar logos on the lower front fenders are the ones that were installed back in May of 1964. And it goes without saying that the glass is original as well. This car is a truly remarkable specimen. The sad part of this story is that the original engine was long gone when the car was discovered. However, a correct date-coded 426-S block was located and thanks to the experts at Michael's Racing, it was fully rebuilt to stock specifications. 426 Wedge blocks don't exactly grow on trees, and finding one was a challenge, but since Chrysler didn't start marking the VIN on engine blocks until 1968, there's really no difference between this block and the original, and if we hadn't just told you about it, you'd never know. The upside is that you now have a sweet-running big block 426 Street Wedge that you shouldn't be afraid to use as intended. Of course, this one is also dressed to compete at the highest levels, with proper detailing throughout the engine bay. The chrome air cleaner and valve covers are freshly plated, the Chrysler Turquoise paint is as nicely finished as the stuff on the exterior of your daily driver, and every little piece is correct, accurate, and date-coded wherever possible. The lovely cast iron exhaust manifolds are like factory headers, and they've been ceramic coated so they will look that good practically forever. There's a correct 26-inch radiator, heavy duty fan assembly, and a red cap battery to finish it off. The original A833 4-speed manual underneath was tested and found to be within spec, so it went back into the car and shifts beautifully. Out back, a set of 3.91 gears on a Sure Grip inside an 8.75-inch rear deliver otherworldly thrust, and this car is still a threat to much more sophisticated modern machinery. The chassis was so amazingly well preserved that we did little more than clean it up for show. The floors were completely unmarked, and all the original components that were installed by the factory were still bolted in place with paint markings that had been applied more than forty years earlier. A new exhaust system with correct mufflers and tips was installed to give the 426 just the right sound, and the original springs are augmented with new shocks and rebuilt brakes to keep it safe on the road. The car comes with two sets of rolling stock as well, the original 14-inch steel wheels with 8.00-14 bias-ply tires as it was new, and a set of 15-inch steelies with fat radials that allow you to make the most of the engine's performance. As shocking as it may seem, that interior is almost entirely original. We replaced the carpets with correct materials, but otherwise the upholstery, the door panels, the dash, the headliner, and even the package shelf are 100% factory original pieces. Again, clean California living and a protected environment comes through in the end, making this perhaps the most accurate '64 Dodge 440 in existence. The front bench shows only very minor wear, all of it in the driver's seat, and the back seat has probably never had a human posterior perched upon it. We gave some of the brightwork a little polishing, but for the most part this car is exactly as it was on May 13, 1964 when it rolled out the door at Hamtramck. The steering wheel is original, the gauges remain beautifully finished, and even the pedals show next to zero wear. And no, we didn't roll the odometer back; in fact, when it came to us, it showed only 1885 original miles, but since this car no longer sports the original engine, the owner decided to have some fun with it by hitting the road. There is no radio, and that's the original block-off plate in the center of the dash. There's no console (which would add weight), and as I mentioned earlier, the seat belts were mandatory in California, so we cleaned them up and put them back in. The spotless trunk received a correct mat, and we're pretty sure that's the original spare tire back there, still wearing an original label. Documentation is fairly extensive. We have all of the restoration receipts and photographs, the original window sticker, the original broadcast sheet, the original owner's manual, and a bunch of promotional materials that came from the dealer and were found in the glove box. This isn't eBay stuff, this is real history attached to this very car. This car has also been completely inspected, decoded, and authenticated by Galen Govier and is in his registry, along with a complete set of documents from Chrysler Historical. This car has also won all the big events, including the B-Body Street Class at the 2009 Mopar Nationals when it was wearing the Max Wedge hood and fat tires. So let's recap, shall we? One of five built. 2681 ORIGINAL miles. Original interior and chassis. Show quality paint and bodywork. Correct, date-coded 426 Street Wedge engine and original 4-speed transmission. Factory documentation. This isn't just a cool car, this is a cool car that is completely unmatched by anything else on the market. If you're a fan of the industrial strength Mopars, this is a car that will absolutely amaze you in every way. Few Dodge production cars are rarer, and even fewer are faster. Nearly every major car club has a survivor category, and the prices of credible survivors continue to climb. That's an understandable trend, considering anyone can restore a car but the factory only bolts it together once. This 34,682-mile Dodge is a mostly-original survivor in the best of ways. Not only is it an ultra-clean, unrestored example of one of the coolest pony cars to ever leave Detroit, it's 1 of only 733 1970 Challenger R/T SE hardtops fitted with Chrysler's legendary 440/3-speed drivetrain. A highly authentic, numbers-matching car that's packed with many desirable options, it's 1 of 50 440/3-speed Challenger R/T SE hardtops listed in Galen's Registry. And, whether you're looking for a unique MoPar to bolster your collection or just want a fun cruiser to enjoy on sunny summer weekends, it's your documented ticket to a glorious, octane-fueled past! BODYWORK/TRIM Wearing lines that originated on Chrysler designer Carl Cameron's famous Charger Turbine Concept, this classic makes a distinct styling statement from virtually every angle. Born in Los Angeles, California, the car has been exceptionally maintained by fastidious owners for close to 46 years. Its mostly original sheetmetal, a characteristical profile that's been supplemented with a new passenger's fender, reflects vivid Sublime single-stage that easily glorifies Chrysler's Hi Impact Pigment marketing. A black hood stripe, white side stripes and a tight vinyl roof highlight original brightwork. And, as far as we can tell, this coupe has never been fully disassembled, with the aforementioned owners choosing to wear the car's weathering as a badge of honor. ENGINE Lift this Dodge's broad hood and you'll find an original, 440 cubic inch RB V8 that follows a correct 2536480 casting number and October 27th of 1969 casting date with a matching partial VIN. More popular than Chrysler's famed Hemi, Dodge's stalwart 440 Magnum was designed to be the industry's best combination of comfort, streetability and big block performance. Oxygen whips from a dressed and decaled air cleaner to a big Carter carburetor, which rides on a factory-spec intake. At the front of that intake, a familiar points distributor sequences spark between an Echlin voltage regulator and pliable Mopar Suppression Cables. At the sides of those cables, Hemi Orange valve covers perfectly contrast old school exhaust manifolds. Cooling comes courtesy of a Chrysler-branded radiator, which rides in front of Mopar-branded hoses and simple squeeze clamps. And a stalwart MoPar red cap kicks everything in to motion. Aesthetically, the bright engine bay presents as expected, from its correct markings and Hi Impact fenders all the way to its old school fluid reservoir and Satin Black brake booster. And details like factory air conditioning are present and accounted for. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION By 1970, most street racers knew that an automatic transmission wasn't necessarily a performance handicap. And today, these proven gearboxes consistently pull down numbers that are just as fast, or faster, than the best row-it-yourself strip warriors. Behind this Challenger's big V8 you'll find an original A727 TorqueFlite that hangs a matching partial VIN opposite a correct assembly stamp. Naturally, that high performance drivetrain feeds a proven 8.75-inch rear end. That rear end rolls on a factory-spec suspension that's fitted with lucid power steering. Exhaust travels through fresh, 2.5-inch pipes that employ factory replacement mufflers and rear-mounted resonators. Power-assisted disc and drum brakes provide the kind of quick and reliable stops that perfectly counter traditional, 15-inch Rallye wheels and requisite F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs. And items like a new fuel tank and fresh shocks keep the car safe and road-ready. INTERIOR Grab a seat in this awesome Challenger and you'll find a correct Black interior that's detailed with tasteful wood accents and bright stainless trim. The first thing you'll notice is the car's high quality bucket seats, which feature comfortable pleats on top of straight frames and firm foam. The second thing you'll notice is fade-free carpet, which is protected by cool "Challenger R/T" branded floor mats. And the third thing you'll notice is a correct console, which wraps a short slap stick shifter in what seems like a mile of wood applique. At the sides of the car, full door panels hang chrome handles and cool lock tabs in front of factory power windows. At the front of the car, stylish wood applique frames clean instrumentation and a correct Chrysler Solid State 8-track player. In front of the driver, a Rim Blow steering wheel mixes good form with great function. At the back of the car, a roomy trunk sandwiches a correct jack and space saver spare between a vintage decal and correct mat. And desirable factory options, like a rear speaker, a rear defroster and 3-speed windshield wipers, are sprinkled throughout. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA Galen Govier Visual Inspection (conducted in 2012)Galen's Registry paperworkA large display boardA small trophyA few spare, believed to be original, parts While this Dodge might not be the rarest MoPar ever produced, time has greatly increased its exclusivity. This has to be one of the lowest-mileage first generation Challengers in existence. Don't miss your chance to own some super cool, mostly original MoPar muscle! It's not just the big V8, or the valuable options. This one gets you with the details, like unique paint that shows off all the square-jawed angles we all love on this piece of American muscle. White is particularly nice when it's done correctly. The respray of the factory color leaves this coupe looking clean and pristine. Dodge really got the design right in '66. This classic has a wide stance that can make this intermediate look full-sized. There's plenty of style touches like the creases along the side that flare out on the quarters, and that cool taffy-pulled rear end that couldn't space out D-O-D-G-E any wider if it tried. Best of all, a subtle custom pinstripe package helps highlight every aggressive thought that was sculpted into the sheetmetal. The interior design proves that the Chrysler stylists were at the top of their game in the '60s. This is further highlighted by a professional restoration of the headliner and intricate seats. In between the front buckets is a center console with the highly stylized gearshift. There's a dashboard full of real gauges, not "idiot" lights (a nice upgrade), and a grippy steering wheel like the three-spoke style usually seen the Hemi muscle cars. But this one is built for comfort, that's why it has everything from heat/defrost, to power steering. There's even plenty of desirable spares (including a correct AM/FM radio) that come with the car. The 440 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is not the original motor, but the swap was for a very good reason. This was built with a 318 and sold to a doctor who made rural house calls. The original engine failed on him in 1967, and so he figured while the car was being fixed, he'd have a factory 440 motor installed. The engine proved to be strong and reliable enough that this is the powerplant still in the car today. In 1997 this Coronet went through a restoration that overhauled the engine, and included a new cam, chain, bearings, and rings. It now makes an awesome rumble from a Flowmaster dual exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission was also rebuilt, and they added a 2,800 RPM stall converter. But this restoration went much further. It included an entire fuel system upgrade, new brakes, new driveshaft, and a 3.23 ratio Sure-Grip limited slip read end was installed. It goes down the road nicely thanks to new brushings and Hemi-sourced torsion bars. This package is capped off with the larger 15-inch cop car wheels, with dog dish ventilated hubcaps. You know there were fewer of these MOPARs produced, compared to the Fords or Chevys back in the 60s. That makes this quick coupe a rare gem with an interesting story. Now all you have to do is stake your claim to it before someone else sees how affordable this Coronet coupe is. The result is a one-year-only combination of modern "fuselage" styling and brute '60s-style horsepower. This impressive 1971 Dodge Charger Super Bee is an authentic V-code/4-speed car that's been restored to a level seldom seen on newer muscle cars. And just in case you're wondering, here's the fender tag decode proving that this car is the real deal:WM23:Dodge Coronet, ChargerMedium2-Door HardtopV16: 440 cubic inch, 385 horsepower 3x2-barrel 8 cylinder1971Newark, DE, USA151691:Sequence numberE87: 440 cubic inch 3x2 barrel V8 (High Performance) 385 horsepowerD21: 4-Speed Manual TransmissionFY1: Top Banana Exterior ColorC6X9: Trim - Charger, Vinyl Bucket Seats, BlackTX9: Black / Formal Black Int. Applied over laser-straight bodywork and some of the most perfectly aligned panels I've ever seen, this is a seriously good-looking car. The long nose/short deck styling made popular with the pony cars translated well to the new Charger, and this one looks fast just sitting still. Loaded with all the eye-popping graphics available, including the longitudinal tape stripes and Super Bee graphic on the fully functional fresh air hood, there's no color combination more fitting for a car such as this. Add in the satin black deck lid mounted wing, the matching chin spoiler, and racy hood pins, and this car looks plenty aggressive, even if it didn't have a nasty 440 living underneath. The trim and bright work have been expertly restored as well. Note that this car carries the L37 hidden headlamps, which work as they should, as well as the fender-mounted turn signal indicators. The emblems are bright and crisp, including the 'Six Pack' callouts on the hood and Super Bee logos on the front fenders. As a link to the past, the tail lights are housed in an argent silver panel, and the two exhaust tips peek out of the rear valence in custom-fitted notches. Horsepower was still in fashion in 1971, and Chrysler was more than willing to serve it up for anyone who asked. Unfortunately, the same insurance premiums and gas price spikes that ultimately killed the big blocks limited customers. On the other hand, that makes cars like this one with its 385 horsepower 440 Six Pack engine and 4-speed manual transmission incredibly rare and valuable today. The engine bay is immaculately finished, and quite honestly, it's worlds nicer than it was even when it was new. The block glistens with bright Hemi Orange paint, the inner fenders have been finished to the same standards as the external bodywork, and the plated parts are shiny and clean. A fresh Richard Petty autograph lives beneath the bright 'Six Pack' logo on the massive air cleaner, and proper factory markings in places like the cylinder heads and firewall have been accurately duplicated. Little details like the painted ground cable, the correct wiper motor on the firewall, and the finish on the power brake booster all add credibility to the amazing restoration work. A correct 4-speed manual transmission remains behind the big block, and in true Mopar fashion, all the heavy duty gear was included. That means the transmission is a rugged 18-spline unit, and out back there's a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears on a Sure Grip limited slip, making this a car that cruises effortlessly at speeds that'll get you thrown in jail. The bottom of the car is as spotless as the top, with exceptional detailing visible throughout. Just look at the floors, which are finished so nicely you'll feel guilty if you don't wax them, and the properly painted suspension components that will bring home the big trophies. A new dual exhaust system with factory style mufflers and tips was installed, there's a new gas tank out back, and the power disc brakes have been fully rebuilt. And like the engine bay, you'll definitely be impressed by the details and how crisply executed they are, including all the brackets, fittings, and hoses that show bright plating and an authentic finish. Proving that good looks never go out of style, the Rallye wheels were carryover from the earlier cars, and they wear reproduction F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas tires at all four corners. The '71 Charger also received an all-new interior which, in typical Mopar fashion, was stylish and well-executed. With comfortable high-back bucket seats sporting fresh seat covers, a comprehensive dashboard that includes a 7,000 RPM tachometer, and upscale woodgrain appliqus that actually look quite convincing, it's a great place to spend a few hours listening to the music if the big block under the hood. Also note the leather-wrapped Tuff Wheel, the pistol-grip shifter, and the lack of a console-after all, this was still intended to be a budget supercar. The original and unique Music Master AM radio still lives in the dash, with both its knobs skewed to the left and the dial on the right, and a matching yellow Super Bee emblem has been fitted on the passenger's side. New door panels, a taut fitting headliner, and matching black Super Bee logo floor mats complete the interior appointments, making this a car that's ready to show or drive at almost any level. Even the trunk is beautifully finished, with more near-flawless Top Banana paint, a correct fitted mat, and a space-saver spare with complete jack assembly. When a classic is restored to this level, it's primed for show time. Naturally, this Charger's previous owner accumulated a variety of awards. Here's a detailed list of the plaques and trophies included with our sale:First at the 2013 AACA National Spring MeetSenior at the 2013 AACA National Fall MeetFirst Place in the 1971-74 Stock Dodge B-Body Class at the 2013 All Chrysler NationalsTim Wellborn's Celebrity Choice at the 2013 All Chrysler NationalsPetty Pick at the 2013 Ridgely Pharmacy Car and Motorcycle ShowParticipant's Choice at the 2013 Corvette Annapolis Car ShowBest Car at the 2013 GT ShowTop 35 at the 2013 Maryland Fall Car, Truck and Bike ShowParticipant at the 2013 Back To The Beach Custom Car and Truck Show Documentation includes the original owner's manual, emissions booklet, and warranty card. The muscle car era wasn't quite over in 1971, and the guys at Dodge definitely didn't get the memo. This rare V-code 440 Six Pack Super Bee rightfully belongs in a collection that includes vaunted machines like a Hemi 'Cuda and a Super Bird. Thanks to a no-expenses-spared restoration that shows just a few off-trailer miles since it was completed, it's also a turn-key investment opportunity that can compete at the Mopar Nationals. If you've been looking for something fast, rare, and just plain cool, you can scarcely do better than this Super Bee! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. That's right, this is an exceptionally popular, but very rare muscle car, that's still in its correct wild color. Even better is this one came from the factory loaded! Does it get any better than finding a California Charger? Sure, when it also has had a professional respray of its original color. This classic orange Mopar shade is called Go Mango. The correct-spec white vinyl roof does not have a cool a name for its hue, but it looks great, and matches the factory optional bumblee stripe on the rear. The squared-off bodywork with its exquisite curves, and butch simulated vents on the front doors, looks good in any color, but this bright orange finish seems to give it an aggressive touch that cannot be ignored. Of course these Chargers never needed much help with intimidation, thanks to the wraparound chrome front bumper. It draws attention to the recessed front end that looks like it will inhale anything that gets in its way. Then again, most people (like Rosco P. Coltrane) only saw the exceptionally wide taillights of these Mopars as they rapidly pulled away. A burnt orange interior is the last thing you'd expect to see on this car, which is kinda cool. After all, it's going to make people at the car show ask you what the original color arrangement was, and you can show them the fender tag with the rare correct EK2/C6K4 combination. Beyond just the color novelty, this will draw attention for being a thoroughly loaded car right from the factory. It has the high-back bucket seats with center console, and everything looks comprehensively original from the heater/defrost controls to the AM radio. There's plenty of '60s style luxury wood veneering on the dash, console, steering wheel, and of course, the iconic pistol grip shifter. Because you will be rowing through the gears, you'll appreciate the full gauge package, including a large tachometer next to the speedometer. In a muscle car that been this clean so far, you know exactly what you'll see when you lift the hood. It's an exceptionally tidy engine bay, nearly overflowing with motor. The big 440 cubic-inch Magnum V8 is the factory-correct powerplant for this car, and it just looks awesome in its period-correct dressings. Of course, in any other engine bay the orange block would be a wild standout color. Just in case you don't want to lift the hood, the headers and dual exhaust gives this car a roar that warns others about the beastly motor. And you'll be able to uphold the king of the streets attitude thanks to the four-speed manual transmission and Super Track Pack rear end that has a 9.75 Dana 60 axle with 4.10 ratio - that's perfect for power takeoffs. And boy, a set of mirrors at the car show will show off how nice the underside is. But, also don't be afraid to take this coupe on the long trips thanks to front disc brakes and power steering. It's getting harder and harder to find these factory high-spec big-block Chargers. This is the one that gives you everything you could want (even the owner's manual) for far less than the price of building or restoring a vintage Mopar for yourself. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1971 Dodge Charger R/T National Award Winning Charger R/T 440 6 Pack 375 HP V8 Dana 60 4.10 PS PB Year: 1971 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 771 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 440 Magnum V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle Info Everyone knows the Dodge Charger was designed to be a high performance, high profile muscle car. During Detroit's first golden era, manufacturers were constantly trying to find a way to get younger buyers into their showrooms. Not surprisingly, Chrysler eventually made both the Hemi and the Magnum available to Charger buyers. And that combination of big power and dramatic looks created a rare street brawler which topped the food chain in both performance and appeal. This stunning Charger is an authentic V-code car that's dominated national events to the tune of a Mopar Nationals first place award, two AACA first place awards and an AACA factory high performance award. Freshly restored, powered by an original big block and propelled by a correct Torqueflite transmission, it's a world class contender that'll score judge for judge in the arena and stand match for match on the street. And if you're in the market for an exceptionally restored Mopar that has all the right stuff to continue gaining value, they just don't get much better! With an original broadcast sheet and multiple national awards in its arsenal, there should be little doubt about this Dodge's pedigree. But, for the sake of being thorough, I'll go ahead and break down its detailed fender tag.WS23:- Dodge Coronet or Charger- Special- 2-door hardtopV1A:- 440 cubic inch, 385 horsepower V8 that's equipped with three 2-barrel carburetors- 1971 model year- Assembled at Chrysler's Lynch Road facility155603: Assembly sequence numberE87: 440 cubic inch, high performance V8 that utilizes three 2-barrel carburetors to create 390 horsepowerD32: Heavy duty Torqueflite automatic transmissionCW3: Bright White paintD5X9:- Luxury trim- Cloth or vinyl bucket seats- Black interiorTX9: Black door frames218: Assembled on February 18th, 1971145610: Order numberV1X: Full, black vinyl roofU: Built to USA specificationsV68: Longitudinal stripe deleteC16: Console that's complete with a wood grain panel26: 26 inch radiatorP31: Power windows This awesome coupe's high quality, frame-off restoration began with a clean, original body that, based on appearance, has led a straight, trouble-free life. That said, this isn't 1971 anymore, and this Charger is no longer a run-of-the-mill assembly car, so that solid body was thoroughly stripped, lovingly sanded and massaged to a level that's much nicer than its original showroom condition. Once the car's panels were correctly aligned, and its intimidating slab-sided ambiance fully reconstructed, a correct coat of Chrysler code CW3 Bright White paint was expertly applied under a correct vinyl top and fresh R/T decals. And today, this razor-sharp Mopar sits as an ultra-straight, fully detailed pavement pounder that elicits loud comments and long stares every time it hits the road! Wearing lines that originated on Chrysler designer Carl Cameron's famous Charger Turbine Concept, this classic cruiser makes a bold and distinct styling statement from virtually every angle. At the front of the car, a split and chrome-trimmed grille hangs a bold "DODGE" script between four pristine headlights, clear parking lamps and an aggressive chin spoiler. At the top of the car, a louvered hood props two pristine "440 SIX PACK" emblems and two fresh lanyards in front of like-new glass that's framed in bright stainless trim. At the sides of the car, prominent fender lines, which are complemented by vertical door inlays, hang new chrome mirrors, small chrome handles and fresh "Charger R/T" scripts above dent-free wheel mouldings. And at the back of the car, a bright silver valence centers textured tail lights between a black spoiler, "Charger R/T DODGE DIVISION" emblems, a mirror-like bumper and red-inlayed exhaust tips. Lift this Dodge's long, freshly finished hood and you'll find an original 440 cubic inch Chrysler V8 that's been fully rebuilt and thoroughly detailed for show. On the sides of that big engine, 2536430-8 casting numbers indicate the presence of a correct RB powerplant. Just above those casting numbers, official January (1) 29th (29) of 1970 (70) casting dates align perfectly with the car's February production. And just below those casting dates, a matching 1A155603 partial VIN confirms the mill is indeed original equipment. At the top of the 390 horsepower monster, a correct trio of Holley 2-barrel carburetors ride within a giant, "440 MAGNUM SIX PACK" branded air cleaner. At the base of those carburetors, a correct Hemi Orange intake rides between original heads and traditional stamped steel valve covers. At the front of those valve covers, a reliable points distributor sequences spark through reproduction Chrysler Electronic Suppression wires. At the sides of that distributor, restored exhaust manifolds funnel spent gases into great sounding, true dual pipes. And in front of those manifolds, a correct 26 inch radiator circulates water through pliable hoses and authentic squeeze clamps. Aesthetically, the car's highly appealing engine bay impresses all the way from its Bright White fenders to its Hemi Orange block. Many details, such as a fresh Mopar red cap battery, a Chrysler branded washer tank and a Chrysler voltage regulator, make it seem like 1971 all over again. And functionally, a quick turn of the ignition switch springs the spry motor into a beefy, rumbling idle. By 1971, most street racers knew automatic gearboxes weren't necessarily a handicap. And today, these transmissions consistently pull numbers that are just as fast, or faster, than the best row-it-yourself cars. Behind this Charger's stout RB you'll find a stalwart A727 TorqueFlite that shifts smoothly and powers down the road with ease. With the car's floors, 'clean' is the name of the game as a cool layer of satin black paint is decorated with Bright White overspray and detailed with a full array of marks and tags. At the front of those floors, a good looking factory suspension is highlighted by correctly colored torsion bars and a rebuilt power steering system. At the back of those floors, a familiar Dana 60 posi-traction rear end utilizes steep 4.10 gears to throw power to the pavement with authority. At the center of those floors, a 2.5 inch, true-dual exhaust system sends spent gases through factory replacement mufflers, rear-mounted resonators and correct stainless tips. And at the corners of those floors, power front disc and rear drum brakes provide quick and reliable stops to perfectly counter 15 inch Rallye wheels and fresh G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs. Sit down inside this great looking Charger and you'll find a new vinyl interior that's accented with tasteful wood applique and bright stainless trim. The first thing you'll notice is the car's high quality bucket seats, which feature comfortable pleats on top of straight frames and what feels like brand new foam. The second thing you'll notice is new black carpet, which is protected by slick "R/T" branded floor mats. And the third thing you'll notice is a correct factory console, which wraps a traditional T-handle shifter in a contoured, driver-oriented design. At the sides of the car, full door panels hang fresh trim and orange-laced "Charger" emblems above slick chrome handles and small power window buttons. At the front of the car, a great looking dash hangs a rebuilt instrument cluster above a correct AM/FM radio and Chrysler's super rare stereo/recorder system. At the back of the car, a fully restored trunk hides a new mat beneath a new jack, a full-size spare and correct decklid markings. And in front of the driver, an infamous Mopar Tuff Wheel mixes a whole lot of form with a whole lot of function. As previously mentioned, this pristine Mopar enjoys some very prestigious accolades. Here's a brief list of the car's major awards:First Place at the 2012 AACA Annual Grand National MeetFactory High Performance Award for the 2011 AACA Eastern DivisionFirst Place at the 2010 Mopar NationalsFirst Place at the 2009 AACA Annual Grand National Meet As a nod to all of our friends who are staunch authenticity buffs, the sale of this clean Chrysler cruiser includes an original broadcast sheet and an original owner's manual. With a highly detailed restoration that was completed by expert builders, this awesome Charger is about as close to original as a restored car can get. It's fast, comfortable, stylish, and when you take a minute to look at the quality of its workmanship, you realize that the cost of restoring it to this level is about twice what it takes to drive it out of our RK Motors Charlotte showroom. If you're in the market for some old school, investment grade muscle that will gain value for years to come, it's time to stop reading and pick up the phone! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1964 Dodge 440 Frame Up Restored 1 of 5 Dodge 440 Street Wedge 4 Speed Year: 1964 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 2681 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 426 V8 Interior color: Red Vehicle info You know RK Motors Charlotte is the headquarters for Mopar muscle, but there are few cars we love more than the early industrial strength Dodges and Plymouths. But when it comes to Chrysler aero cars, EVERYONE, from hardcore historians to eight year old day dreamers, knows they're looking at something special. This incredible Charger Daytona is a fully documented, 1 of 8 showpiece that's been rotisserie restored by the pros at our own RKM Performance Center. No car turns as many heads as a Chrysler halo model. And, unlike other outrageous looking machines, they usually have the pedigree and performance to back up their extreme appearance. If you're a serious Mopar enthusiast who's looking for a crown jewel classic to lead your collection, welcome to the world of winged warriors! Before we start this streetable stock car's detailed description, here's a look at how it rolled down Chrysler's Dodge Main assembly line:E86: 440 cubic inch Magnum V8 that's fitted with 4-Barrel carburetionD21: Heavy duty 4-speed manual transmissionX: Dodge ChargerX: Daytona Charger29: 2-door sports hardtopL: 440 cubic inch V8 that utilizes 4-Barrel carburetion to produce 375 horsepower9: 1969 model yearB: Assembled at Chrysler's Dodge Main manufacturing facility in Hamtramck, MichiganXXXXXX: Sequence numberR6: Red roof paintR6: Red body paintC: Charger grade trim6: Vinyl bucket seatsX: Black interiorX9: Black door frames521: Assembled on Wednesday May 21st, 1969926411: Vehicle order numberA11: Special model: Charger DaytonaA33: Dana 60 Track Pack axleC16: ConsoleC55: Bucket seatsG11: Tinted glassJ25: Electronic 3-speed windshield wipersM21: Roof drip rail moldingsM31: Body belt moldingsR11: Music Master AM radioV88: R/T Bumblebee sport stripe delete (Add Daytona stripe)Y39: Special order26: 26-inch radiatorEN: End of codes2: Assembly line 2 In the 60s, Chrysler and Ford were heavily vested in the "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" sales mentality, and Dodge's Charger 500 just wasn't getting the job done. In an attempt to one up Ford's slick and equally fast Torino, Dodge went back to the drawing board and began exploring aerodynamics. This was a first for a car company, and it eventually culminated in testing full-scale models at Lockheed Martin's North Carolina wind tunnel. Engineer's quickly realized the benefits of a wind-cutting nose, but their real epiphany came when they employed a large rear stabilizer. Not only did that 'rocket nose' and 'park bench' spoiler combination create 'zero lift' downforce, it also produced immense directional stability, permitting speeds in excess of 200 MPH. Not surprisingly, Dodge's storied Daytona won the first race it competed in and would eventually become one of the most successful NASCAR stock cars of all time. Originally sold through Reedman Dodge in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, this rare, red Daytona features an exceptionally straight body that was perfected during a professional, rotisserie restoration. The car's rebirth began when the skilled techs at our own RKM Performance Center completely stripped its striking but faded profile all the way down to bare metal. Once that metal was married to a fresh trunk pan, its facets were sanded and lovingly massaged to a level that's much nicer than factory fodder. With those facets adequately planed, and Chrysler's intimidating ambiance fully reconstructed, a correct coat of code R6 two-stage was sealed under a bright Daytona stripe. And today, this Dodge sits as an ultra-straight, fully detailed pavement pounder that's some of the coolest, most attention-grabbing iron Detroit has ever created. When you step back and take a look at this Charger's sinuous body, many adjectives come to mind. Wicked... Astonishing... Dreadful... Infamous... But, in reality, Chrysler spent a lot of R&D time making sure the car fit one specific descriptor: functional. Every piece of this Daytona was whittled to maximum efficiency in pursuit of one goal: lapping large race tracks at a high rate of speed. At the front of the car, a downforce-producing nose hangs sleek, flip-up headlights above a small grille, hidden parking lamps and a body-matched chin spoiler. Behind that nose, drag reducing heat extractors ride between standard hood pins and like-new glass that's bordered by straight stainless trim. At the sides of those extractors, prominent fender lines, which anchor familiar "Charger" scripts at the base of the car's large B-pillars, feature fresh wheel trim, familiar door handles and a correct Chrysler mirror. And at the back of the car, a Satin Black valence centers clear tail lights and a bright "Charger" emblem between chrome-trimmed reverse lamps, a detailed 'pit stop' fuel filler, a new chrome bumper and a giant, 24-inch wing. Hoist the car's long hood and you'll find a correct, 440 cubic inch Magnum V8 that's authenticated by a 2536430 casting number and January (1) 20th (20), 1970 (70) casting date. At the top of that 375 horsepower monster, a correct Carter carburetor rides within a small, Organisol-coated air cleaner. At the base of that carburetor, a correct Chrysler intake hangs between correct heads and traditional, stamped steel valve covers. At the front of those valve covers, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables. And at the sides of that distributor, fully restored exhaust manifolds funnel spent gases into great sounding, true-dual tail pipes. Aesthetically, this Charger's red hot engine bay is exceptionally impressive from its glossy brake booster and fresh power steering pump all the way to its big, 26-inch radiator and reproduction red cap battery. And a great combination of new and replacement parts make the car's operation both fun and reliable, with items like a correct washer tank, taut carburetor springs and fresh, Chrysler-branded hoses ensuring miles of safe travel. Toss this B-Body in the air and you'll find a fully sorted undercarriage that's been completely restored to a factory-accurate state. Heavy duty primer protects weather-free floorpans that showcase a natural blend of carefully faded overspray. Not surprisingly, the car's rugged A833 4-speed needed very little to be rebuilt to solid, like-new condition. That stalwart gearbox sends power to a correct Dana 60 Track Pack rear end. In front of that drivetrain, gold torsion bars combine with optional power steering to make quick work of big bumps and tight curves. Behind that drivetrain, fresh shocks augment traditional leaf springs below a leak-free fuel tank. Stops come courtesy of heavy duty power drum brakes that are positioned at all four corners. Exhaust is handled by aluminized tubes, which bend around an H-shaped crossover, traditional turbo mufflers and bright stainless tips. And all that Mopar goodness rolls on familiar Magnum wheels, which twist 225/75R14 Coker Classic redlines around stainless trim rings and polished center caps. Inside this awesome Dodge, a correct Legendary interior is clean, well-fitted and surprisingly stylish. The seats, which ride in a typical bucket/bench configuration, display no significant signs of wear. In front of those thrones, an expertly restored dash hangs rebuilt factory gauges beside a thumb-adjusted Dodge Solid State radio. At the bottom of that dash, like-new carpet anchors a familiar Hurst shifter inside a long, wood-trimmed console. At the sides of that carpet, fresh door panels hang new armrests and pliable map pockets under bright stainless trim and orange-tinged "Charger" emblems. Above those panels, old school shoulder belts frame a tight, black headliner. In front of the driver, a correct steering wheel spins a glossy black rim around a monochromatic, fratzog-branded column cover. And behind the cockpit, the car's professionally restored trunk is complete all the way down to its plaid mat, correct jack and correct spare tire. Naturally, this phenomenal Charger features amazing provenance. Here's a chronological breakdown of the items included with its sale:Vintage photosRestoration photosRestoration receiptsA reproduction window sticker.Framed documentation from The Chrysler Registry A poster child for the golden era of Detroit, the Charger Daytona stands head and shoulders above nearly every classic in terms of looks, exclusivity and performance. Few cars are as popular as they are polarizing, and that simply adds to its cache. With a smooth, era-correct powertrain, mostly-original sheetmetal and enough visual flash to stand out in a mirror factory, this awesome coupe is about as close to the ultimate muscle car as you can get! Even sitting still, the car looks like a weapon. And thankfully, the Chrysler Corporation knew better than to give it big scoops, aggressive nomenclature and cool cartoon graphics without adding some serious firepower. That said; the terms 'numbers-matching', 'Magnum' and 'Six Pack' aren't the only indicators of this coupe's market success. And, if you're looking for an ultimate piece of Detroit metal that shows just as well as it tears up the road, this freshly restored Dodge is precisely the opportunity you've been waiting for! Speaking of opportunity, it's believed that only 599 1970 Super Bee hardtops donned this car's brash Six Pack powertrain. That means this brassy classic is a factory-accurate rarity among muscle cars that are already highly exclusive. Here's a detailed breakdown of the broadcast sheets that are included with our sale. That $144K reboot began when the car's intimidating body was stripped all the way to bare metal. That fully revealed foundation was complemented with a new trunk pan and fresh quarter panels. That solid fuselage was bathed in a smooth and glossy coat of PPG Deltron two-stage, which reflects correct code W1 White. And today, the car rolls as a conservative take on one of the best years of outrageous Mopar motoring. Thanks to a lot of money spent and a lot of bolts turned, this classic's crisp gaps and spectacular panel alignment could make a modern muscle car blush. At the front of the coupe's body, a dramatic 'bumble bee wing' grille hangs clear headlights and a blocky "DODGE" script between small parking lamps and a centered Super Bee emblem. At the sides of that grille, multi-faceted panels are detailed with a chrome driver's mirror, Chrysler door handles, dent-free wheel frames and bold Super Bee call-outs. Above those panels, a Ramcharger hood anchors bright "440" emblems in front of like-new glass that's cleared by satin wipers, framed by mirrored stainless and capped by fresh black vinyl. And opposite that hood, a Dodge-stamped valence hangs a second Super Bee emblem between traditional tail lights, a broad bumper and polished stainless exhaust tips. Yank this Dodge's correct hood pins and you'll find an original, 440 cubic inch RB V8 that hangs a matching partial VIN below a correct 2536430-9 casting number and August 5th, 1969 casting date. At the top of that 390 horsepower monster, a correct trio of Holley carburetors rides within a giant, Hemi Orange air cleaner. At the base of those carburetors, a correct Edelbrock intake hangs between correct heads and traditional, stamped steel valve covers. At the front of those valve covers, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables. And at the sides of that distributor, iron exhaust manifolds funnel spent gases into great sounding, true-dual tail pipes. Aesthetically, this Coronet's bright white engine bay is exceptionally impressive, from its correctly placed decals and old school washer tank all the way to its correct squeeze clamps and purple carburetor spring. And a great combination of new and reproduction pieces ensure the car's operation is both reliable and fun, with items like a correct radiator, a Mopar red cap battery and a Chrysler-branded voltage regulator making sure every mile is safely traveled. Land this Bee on a lift and a nicely detailed undercarriage that's complete with glossy, over-restored floorpans rises into view. At the center of those pans, an original A833 4-speed hangs a matching partial VIN over an A833 (PP833) built on October 11th, 1969 (2997) assembly stamp. That proven gear slinger applies power to a rugged Dana 60 rear end, which spins a posi-traction differential around correct 3.54 gears. Below that proven drivetrain, an extra heavy duty Hemi suspension has been completely rebuilt to include a correct sway bar, correct leaf springs and power front disc and rear drum brakes. Steering, like those brakes, is power-assisted, providing a modern level of safety. Exhaust is handled by 2.5-inch, free-flowing tail pipes that jettison cooked dinosaurs through an H-style crossover, Chrysler-branded mufflers and correct stainless tips. Power flows to the pavement via 14-inch steel wheels, which spin authentic looking F70-14 Goodyear Speedway Wide Treads around clean paint and dent-free center caps. And naturally, the car's correctly tagged and fully sorted undercarriage is rounded out by new fluid lines and a fresh stainless fuel tank. Open this coupe's big, solid doors and sit down inside a cockpit where legendary Mopar power melds seamlessly with a no frills, no-nonsense driving environment. At the center of the car's floors, firm bench seats have been stuffed with fresh padding and topped with correctly pleated covers. In front of those seats, an expertly restored dash frames rebuilt factory telemetry between a tic-toc tachometer and Chrysler Solid State audio. At the sides of that dash, fresh door panels hang new armrests under bright stainless trim and glossy black toppers. At the bottom of those panels, like-new carpet centers thick Super Bee floor mats on a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. In front of the driver, a large-diameter steering wheel spins a monochromatic, fratzog-branded horn button around a fully rebuilt column. And behind the passengers, the car's professionally restored trunk is complete all the way down to its plaid mat, matching space tire and fresh decklid decal. This awesome B-Body's sale includes:Three Chrysler broadcast sheetsAn original Owner's ManualOriginal warranty paperworkOriginal factory literatureA stack of restoration receiptsAn album of restoration photosChrysler Registry paperworkA visual inspection that was conducted by Galen Govier This sweet Coronet Super Bee has it all: looks to kill, power that never stops and an incredible restoration that's detailed and spotless. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Frame Up Restored Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack 4 Speed Year: 1970 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Green Mileage: 56989 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 440 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle info By the time 1970 rolled around, the Mustang had established the validity of the pony car market. Chevrolet and most of the other manufacturers were quick to follow suit, but it took Dodge a couple more years to unveil their entry into the pony car market with their Dodge Challenger. Wildly unique and capable of packing some serious horsepower under the hood, the Dodge Challenger quickly became a hit on the street and at the dragstrip. It's easy to see why when you look over this highly optioned 1970 Dodge Challenger that features a unique color combination and a monster 440 Six Pack under the hood. But before we get too far into this Challenger let's decode the VIN and fender tag: VIN: JS23V0B152965J: Dodge Challenger S: Special 23: 2 door hardtop V: 440 CI 3-2 barrel carburetors 0: 1970 B: Hamtramck, MI 152965: Sequence number Next lets breakdown the fender tag from left to right and from bottom to top to show just how highly optioned this Challenger is: E87: Engine: 440 3-2bbl 390hp V8 440 Magnum six pack D21: Transmission: A833 4-speed manual Hurst pistol grip JS: Car Line: Dodge Challenger R/T 23: Body Type: 2-door hardtop V: Engine: 440 3-2bbl 390hp V8 440 Magnum six pack 0: Model year: 1970 B: Assembly plant: Hamtramck, MI 152965 Assembly plant sequential number FJ5: Body Paint: Sublime Hi-impact H: Trim Grade: High 6: Front Seats: vinyl buckets XW: Interior: White and Black 000: upper door frame color: None A06: Scheduled production date: Monday October 06, 1969 041986: Vehicle order number V1W Style Roof Color: Vinyl top/white A34: Super Track Pak A62: Rallye instrument cluster B51: Power Brakes C16: Woodgrain console C55 Front Bucket Seats C62: LH b-way adjustable bucket seats G34: Mirror: Outside LH remote painted J45: Hood pins M21: Drip rail mouldings N41: dual exhaust system N42: Chrome exhausts tips N85: Tachometer R11: Radio: Music master AM V21: Performance hood tape treatment V9W: Stripes: White transverse sport Y05: Build to specs for U.S.A order 26: radiator diameter 26" widthEN2: End of fender tag codes The beneficiary of a complete rotisserie restoration, the entire car absolutely stands out because of one of the most vibrant color combinations that was available in 1970. The HI IMPACT Sublime paint absolutely pops and is accented quite nicely by the white vinyl top, white vinyl interior, and white stripes across the back of the car. The front of the car gives a menacing look thanks in part to the performance hood tape treatment and the vibrant paint. A chrome bumper stretches the length of the nose just below the grille that features Challenger R/T badging. Coming out from the grille are the two hood pins that add to the look of the car. Just above the grille on the bottom of the hood, chrome Dodge badging looks fantastic against a black accent stripe on the hood. The black stripe travels up the hood past two nonfunctional ram air scoops. Also on the hood are two 440 chrome emblems that are followed by the words 'SIX PACK' written in red. On the fenders you'll find more Challenger R/T badging that rests on an accent line that starts at the front fender and stretches to the rear bumper. The vinyl top shows no signs of wear and is an excellent feature. At the back of the car a white stripe stretches across the trunk and very rear tip of the trunk and is just wide enough to house more Challenger R/T emblems. Just below another body width rear bumper you'll find quad chrome exhaust tips. Pull the hood pins and lift the performance hood and you'll reveal a period correct Magnum 440 six pack V-8. The engine with the help of three 2-barrel carburetors was good for 390hp from the factory. All said and done there were only 1,640 Challenger R/T 2 door hardtops built with the 440 Six Pack. Of those only 847 were equipped with this driveline configuration. The block which accents the green engine bay in a vibrant orange paint, has a creation date of June 6th 1969. Below the massive air filter with 440 Magnum Six Pack insignia rests the three two-barrel carburetors that feed the engine their air-fuel mixture. The majority of buyers chose to go with either the 440 single barrel option or the 440 six pack instead of the Hemi because of the similar horsepower numbers and/or how expensive the Hemi was to purchase. Underneath the Challenger is just as impressive as the rest of the vehicle. Bolted to the 440 is the original A833 4-speed manual transmission that feeds power to a Dana 60 rear axle with a 4.10 sure grip differential. During the restoration the builder decided to paint the underside rather than having it undercoated. Even though this came with a 440 it was equipped with the Hemi suspension which meant it came with a .94 diameter front sway bar, firm ride shock absorbers, hemi torsion bars, heavy duty rear springs, and disc brakes on the front with drum brakes on the rear. The entire car rides on 14" styled Rallye wheels with period correct Polyglas tires. Open the vibrant green door and you'll be greeted by a completely restored white vinyl interior. Two front bucket seats are separated by a woodgrain console with the pistol grip shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission. One unique feature to this car is the LH 6-way adjustable bucket seat that wasn't commonly seen. In front of the driver is the wood grain Rallye instrument cluster that houses the 150MPH speedo, 8,000 RPM tachometer, analog clock, and fuel, temp, oil pressure and voltage meter. Above the seats is a bright white headliner that shows no signs of wear. Like new black carpet lines the floor with matching Challenger R/T floor mats. The sale of this Challenger includes the extensive Galen Govier report that acknowledges the inclusion of the Challenger into the Chrysler Registry, and a detailed record book that starts in 1972 that details every purchase for the vehicle including gas. The Challenger may have been late to the pony car market, by the time the 1970 Challenger was released the Camaro, Mustang, and Barracuda were already well established and had supporters within the market place. However, the Challenger even with its back up against the wall still sold over 76,000 models when it was made available to the public. This Sublime Challenger R/T is a perfect example why. Don't miss your chance to unload this Challenger in to your collection. Call, click or visit http://RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more information. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T Restored Numbers Matching Coronet R/T 440 Magnum V8 Year: 1967 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Yellow Mileage: 43810 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 440 Magnum V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info In 1967, the Dodge Coronet R/T was one of the most feared cars to see arrive at your local drag strip. It featured a 375hp 440 Magnum and if that wasn't enough, it could come equipped with a 426 Hemi. This true 1967 Coronet R/T is a great example why these beasts were so popular. Coming off a fresh rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2013, this R/T features a killer $30,000 paint job, freshly built 440 Magnum, and a completely restored vinyl interior. As far as Coronet R/T's go, it doesn't get much better than this. But before we get too far into this true Coronet R/T, let's start by decoding the VIN number: VIN: WS23L77162700 W: Coronet S: R/T 23: 2-door hardtop L: 440 CID Hi Performance 7: 1967 7: Built in St. Louis, MO 162700: Production number sequence And some body tag information:Build Date: December 22nd Axle: 2.94 rear axle Premium trim grade A1: 26in RadiatorR1: AM RadioX2: Tinted Windshield Onlya6: Consoleb4: Bucket Seatsj4: Moulding - Body Sill Narrow A lifelong North Carolina car, this B-body received a complete rotisserie style restoration to end up in the shape that it is today. The body, which is all the original sheetmetal except for the floorpans that had to be replaced due to rust, is covered in a gorgeous shade of the correct cream paint. $30,000 was spent just on the paint job, which is absolutely immaculate. At the front of the body you have the body width front bumper just below the massive front grille. Inside the grille you'll find the four headlights and the R/T logo. Chrome dodge lettering lies on the front of the hood, while at the back you have four chrome slits in the hood that act as a non-functional hood scoop. Chrome trim starts in the front fender well and extends through the rear tire wells. R/T logos grace the quarter panels and the rear of the car with another chrome dodge emblem. Another body width bumper is attached to the rear just above the dual exhausts dumps. Pop the hood on this Coronet R/T and you'll find the original, massive 440 Magnum V8 filling the engine bay. Even though the Hemi was available in the R/T Coronets, most understood how powerful and feared the Magnums were when they left the factory. Over 10,000 Coronet's were ordered with the 440 Magnum, while only 238 left the factory with the Hemi. During its extensive restoration, the 440 received a complete rebuild from former Penske Racing and Junior Johnson engine builder, Steve Triplett. During the build, it was bored .040 over, received forged pistons, high performance valves, and a hydraulic flat tappet cam and lifters. At the top of the air filter, silver lettering on a red backing give away that what you are looking at is in fact a 440 Magnum. On the side of the block you will find the 2536430 casting number and the branding that shows it was finished on the night shift on June 15th 1966. The block painted in a bluish-green looks fantastic against the cream engine bay color. Put the Coronet on a lift and you'll see the aforementioned new floor pans that were painted in the same cream shade as the exterior. Stopping power comes thanks to front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Attached to the Magnum 440 is the original A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission that feeds power through a driveshaft to the 8 rear axle with a 2.94 open differential. Spent gases travel out the cast iron exhaust manifolds through the H-pipe dual exhausts to create a breathtaking sound at the back of the car. Brand new shocks can be found at all four corners behind the 15" Chrome Magnum 500 rims that have been wrapped in BF Goodrich Silvertown red line rubber. Inside, the interior is just as impressive as the rest of the car. Open the door and you'll be greeted by a completely restored black vinyl interior that features the correct bucket seats that were re-covered by Rhoades Upholstery in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Originally the Coronet left the factory with white and gold trim, however, the owner opted to restore it to black vinyl with chrome trim during its restoration. The fantastic look starts with the door panels that feature black vinyl and chrome trim that has chrome Coronet R/T badging. In front of the driver is the 150mph speedo and instrument cluster. Between the two front bucket seats is the control for the 3-speed automatic transmission and the radio. Above the driver is a taught black headliner that looks stunning. Behind the front seats is a bench seat capable of holding two or three of your closest friends on the way to a car show. The sale of this Coronet includes the original broadcast sheet, original operating instructions, original vehicle certicard, and a stack of receipts from its highly detailed restoration. If you are in the market for a true R/T car, it doesn't get much better than this 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T. The 2-door hardtop has less than 140 miles since its complete restoration and is ready to anchor any collection or win awards at the local car show. With power in reserve under the hood thanks to the original drivetrain, an incredible paint scheme, and a restored interior, this Coronet R/T is stunning in every way. Don't miss your chance to own this R/T. Call, click or visit http://RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more information. From the Indy Cylinder Head 440 powered 1969 Dodge Charger 500, "Maximum Effect", which was featured at the 2010 Mopar Nationals and quickly sold for $180,000.00, to the 426 HEMI powered 1970 Dodge Charger R/T which sold for $185,000.00 at the RK Motors Collector Car Auctions May, 2013 Pinehurst sale, their Pro Touring Chargers have consistently hit the mark. Combining the best of classic styling combined with old school muscle and modern upgraded components, their collaborative builds have set the benchmark for beautiful, yet functional pro touring machines. Which brings us to their latest and final build: this incredible 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Pro Touring car. The vision for this Charger R/T was established by experience earned from their prior builds, taking the best of each and rolling them up into an a new design, the focus of which was to preserve the raw muscle car appeal of the classic 1968-1970 Dodge Charger body style, while allowing for maximum performance and reliability. Starting with a well-worn, yet dry and rust free Arizona 1970 Dodge Charger R/T as the foundation for the project, OEM sheet-metal is present from back to back. The body shell, doors, fenders, hood & deck-lid were subjected to a comprehensive acid dip and e-coating process, the very best process for creating a straight body that will stand the test of time and road miles. With a fresh canvas. every inch was carefully massaged before multiple coats of PPG Grigio Pearl Metallic were sprayed on every body panel. . For the hood black-out treatment and bumblebee stripes, black was selected. The combination was then buried in clearcoat and buffed to near perfection. The final finish is beyond reproach, offering mirror-like reflections from all angles. The paintwork is matched by even gaps around the hood, doors, and deck lid. While assembly line cars of the 1970s weren't known for their fit and finish, our team made sure to leave those imperfections in the past. Finishing off the iconic 1970 Dodge Charger body is carefully restored chrome, stainless steel and anodized aluminum, done to perfection. Inside the Charger, a stunning black leather interior was carefully installed. Though it has a custom feel, the design can largely be accredited to the Chrysler Corporation. The classic 1970 Dodge Charger R/T bucket seat interior is a timeless design-why mess with perfection? The restoration began with new high-grade black carpet set covering Dyna-mat, which mitigates road noise and exhaust heat. and a factory wood-grain center console. Steve Pearson Upholstery Unlimited supplied the hand-stitched vented leather front and rear seats, complete with white piping. Firm and supportive, these seats could easily pass for pieces borrowed from a late model sports car. At either side, new black door panels are highlighted by round Charger R/T logos and new hardware all around. The view from the driver seat is the stuff of muscle car dreams with a wood-finished steering wheel and pistol-grip shifter granting control over the car. Beyond the wheel, the restored dash shows off a 150 mph speedometer sits next to a tachometer with an integrated clock. Smaller gauges monitor other HEMI vitals including fuel level, temperature, oil pressure, and alternator output. To the right, controls for the updated HVAC system are placed within reach directly above the Pioneer AM/FM/CD/DVD with Ipod hook-up head unit which sends signal to new Pioneer speakers. An Ipod cable is smartly routed through the center console for easy and secure hook-up. Linking the restored interior interior to the refinished exterior is a complete new set of glass. Behind the rear seat, the trunk is finished to the same high standards as the rest of the car. New black carpet sits beneath an Optima red top battery and the gas filler neck that feeds into the custom fuel tank below. The heart of this Charger R/T is a brand new Indy Cylinder Head 500 V8 Wedge motor. Prior builds have been both HEMI and wedge powered, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The consensus of the builders was that the Wedge powered cars are simply better. They produce more torque, are more reliable and can be run at lower compression, which allows for use of modern fuels with little impact on performance. Balanced and blue-printed, this power-plant produces 575 dyno-proven horsepower, with an equal 575 pound feet of torque. Here is a partial build list for this bullet-proof engine: Billet Specialties front runner serpentine system4340 Crank (4.150 stroke) Eagle H- Beam rods Speed Pro hyper pistons 4.830 9.5 :1 compression Edelbrock Performer RPM heads Comp Hydraulic cam (.509) MP black wrinkle valve covers M-1 single plane intake 750 Mighty Demon carburetorMilodon oil pan and tray MP electronic distributor Custom plug wires (black) At the front of the engine, a March Performance serpentine setup spins accessories including a polished air conditioning compression and power steering pump. Across from the pieces, a polished direct-fit Be Cool radiators keeps the mill cool with the aid of dual electric fans. Spend exhaust gases funnel through ceramic coated headers which connect to a full three-inch TTI exhaust system equipped with DynoMax mufflers. Put the car on a lift and more show-quality craftsmanship shines through. From the beautifully finished floors to the fresh hardware and braided lines, every inch is worth a closer look. At the front, an impressive RMS front subframe with rack and pinion & tubular control arms supports the Indy 500 V8. Behind the Wedge motor, a Keisler-modified Tremec TKO-500 five-speed manual transmission with a Quick Time bellhousing makes quick work of shifts. At the rear, a Moser Dana 60 rear axle with 3.54 gears puts the power to the pavement with authority. Around the thoroughly upgraded drive-train, an equally capable suspension starts with RMS 1.25-inch tubular control arms with heavy duty rod ends and Afco double adjustable coil-over racing shocks, for a fully adjustable front end. The rear suspension is a Detroit Speed altered four link setup with Panhard. Wilwood 12-inch rotors and six-piston front/ four-piston rear calipers can be found at all four corners of the car. This suspension set-up offers the confident response of a modern sports car. At the corners, a set of 18 and 19-inch Fiske three piece wheels are wrapped in new Michelin Pilot Super Sports for maximum grip. Pro-touring cars are about cancelling out the compromises of muscle car ownership and replacing them with new capabilities. With a balanced, fast revving big block Wedge motor, quick-shifting Tremec five-speed, and a fully upgraded suspension, this 1970 Charger R/T annihilate any complaints regarding performance or cornering. The addition of conveniences like power steering, disc brakes, air conditioning, and a modern stereo simply sweeten the deal. Built by the best for the most discriminating muscle car fans the scene has to offer, this Charger is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the rewards of a fresh world-class pro-tourer without endless calls to vendors, builders, and banks.
