For everyone who believes in this rule, read on about this 1967 coupe. Code I, Lime Gold, is an unusual color today among early Mustangs, because so often people have traded them in for red or black. So now this one is quite a pleasant unique sight, and it only gets better because it was given a slick respray a few years ago to really make that metallic element in the paint 'pop'. This coupe has some great looking chrome on the bumpers, mirrors, taillights, and side emblems, but not everything has to be shiny to be attractive. Just take a look at all the black in the grille, on the lower panel triple-stripe, and the eye-catching GT alloy wheels. In fact, these features give this one a hint of a Steve McQueen Bullitt-style mean streak. Inside is more of the shining green (officially called Ivy Gold according to ID tag). It's a fantastic look with vinyl that feels nearly factory fresh from 1967. This one even still has its original push-button AM radio in working order! We could go on about the amazingly original impression we get from the interior, but you've probably already spotted the exception. This is a custom center console that provides much better elbow comfort than anything that came from Ford in the 60s. Plus, if you're one of those people who have not yet outlawed sodas in your beloved classic, then you will really appreciate the security of cup holders. If this is not to your taste, the console can be removed easily without damaging the bucket seats. One feature that you will never want to be without is the factory air conditioning, with vents that were integrated into the dash design for the first time this model year, it is a welcomed option. Under the hood this Mustang has its correct-spec 289 cubic-inch V8. This makes plenty of power from stock, but there was some room for improvement. It has been upgraded with an Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carburetor, and a performance Cobra-style air cleaner (with matching valve covers). This gives the pony a better stride, and everyone will hear a bit more grunt from your dual exhaust. These upgrades will be great if you want to impress at a Saturday night cruise-in, but this Mustang was built for much more. This one can be your road trip car too, thanks to features like power steering, power brakes (discs up front), and Ford's C4 three-speed automatic transmission. It's even running a 3.25 rear end so you can have some hijinks fun when you want but also have decently low RPMs running down the highway. This Mustang has led a cared for life, and it has the maintenance records, original bill of sale, and window sticker to prove it. It's been lovingly improved only in the right places. They say it's not easy being green, but this coupe is proving them wrong. Ford introduced the Mustang Bullitt edition in 2001, but it wasn\'t until the redesigned Mustang showed up in 2005 that the Bullitt could really reach into the past and truly channel Steve McQueen. This 2008 Bullitt Mustang is an incredible investment-grade piece of Ford history, showing only 1,424 original miles (not a misprint), and completely untouched aside for a few routine maintenance items. Wow! The color is Highland Green, just as in 1968, and it practically glows on the surfaces of this modern variant. Thanks to the miracle of two-stage urethane paint, it has a dazzling shine without losing the deep color that made McQueen\'s car the ultimate sleeper. The Bullitt eschews flash, and standard Mustang items like a hood scoop and rear wing, just to add authenticity. You\'ll note that there are no badges or other indicators on it, and the only real identifier is a faux gas cap in the center of the rear valence, that is special just for these cars. The 1968 original used chrome bumpers, but since there\'s no chrome on an \'08 Mustang, they substituted a satin-finished trim ring around the now-horseless grille opening, which mimics the spirit, if not the exact look of the original. And yes, it is as perfectly preserved as possible and showroom fresh in every possible way. The interior got a few upgrades over the standard GT fare as well, and all of it is as nicely maintained as the exterior. It\'s not a duplicate of the \'60s icon, but there are deign cues everywhere that remind you that this is no ordinary Mustang. There were no machine-turned panels in Frank Bullitt\'s car, but they give the dash in this one a period-perfect look, and brighten up the otherwise dark gray interior. Same goes for the aluminum shift knob and gray shifter surround, all of which help place the car in-period without actually going back in time. The GT\'s gauges use a very 1968-looking font with tall, narrow numbers, although the layout is quite modern overall. The seats were borrowed from the GT500 and offer narrow pleats like the original, and the leather-wrapped wheel is a luxury Steve McQueen might have appreciated during the stunt driving sequences. Ford gave the Bullitt a few extra horsepower, too, thanks to an intake system designed by Ford Racing, as well as a strut tower brace that also carries the car\'s individual number plate. It\'s very nicely detailed and obviously someone cared about not only keeping it fresh but also making it look as good as possible, because even the factory didn\'t make it shine under the hood like this car does. It\'s been properly maintained to keep it in top condition, but only things like the fluids and perhaps the battery have been changed. The exhaust system was specially tuned to sound like the 1968 car from the film, and it makes a few extra ponies thanks to a custom engine calibration. The suspension was lowered about a half-inch from stock and is tuned a little more aggressively. The stock Mustang brakes are an easy match for the horsepower, and they live behind 18-inch Torque-Thrust replicas wearing 235/50/18 tires that look suitably tall in the wheel wells. Documented with a binder full of paperwork like the original window sticker, dealer invoice, and maintenance records, this is a no-stories car. If you missed your chance in 2008, here it is again with one extremely well-preserved Bullitt Mustang. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. This is just a great-looking, great-driving 1970 Mach 1. That\'s it. Well, actually, that\'s quite a bit, because it\'s also one of the most popular pony cars of all time and this particular pony offers some well-chosen upgrades that don\'t dilute the original spirit yet enhance the driving experience in a big way. The vivid electric blue paint wasn\'t on the color palette in 1970, but it probably could have been, and as a result, this Mach 1 looks pretty authentic. The more important issue is the sheetmetal underneath, which is in very good shape, accentuating Ford\'s best-looking fastback from any angle. The kick-up behind the doors, the pointed hood with a built-in scoop, and a deep chin spoiler all work together to make this car aggression on four wheels. The finish is excellent overall, with just a few blemishes that you really have to look hard to find, and with proper stripes running along the hood, there\'s no question what model this is. Out back, you get the honeycomb rear panel, classic three-element taillights, and a deck lid spoiler that looks better here than on just about anything else with a wing this side of an F-14. They kept the chrome bumpers, so there\'s a bit of sparkle at both ends, and there\'s correct Mach 1 trim along the rockers to make it long and low. At first glance, the interior looks quite stock, complete with Comfort-Weave bucket seats (in black, of course) and a center console. However, once you slide behind the wheel, you\'ll discover a few pleasant surprises, starting with the fat, small-diameter steering wheel which still uses a wood rim for a period vibe. The stock instruments have been replaced by a set of Velocity gauges from Classic Instruments, and have you priced gauges lately, because these cost more than $2000 all by themselves! The 4-speed Hurst shifter (with cue ball) falls easily to hand and feels natural the first time you drive it, and the woodgrained accents on the console and door panels are part of the Mach 1\'s upscale sport theme. A modern Panasonic AM/FM/CD stereo has been stuffed in the original radio\'s location, and you\'ll be happy to note that this car came with factory A/C, which now uses all-new components to deliver ice cold air today. The trunk is nicely upholstered in black carpet and with the fold-down rear seat, there\'s always plenty of cargo space. The engine is a built 351 cubic inch Windsor V8, the 5.0\'s big brother. With a lopey cam inside, the apparently date-code-correct block is an outstanding runner, particularly with a Holley 4-barrel carb up top and torque-friendly long-tube headers. With the Motorsport valve covers and Edelbrock air cleaner, it has a \'60s performance look and it really is a neat fit in the Mustang\'s engine bay. Backed by a 4-speed and a 9-inch rear, you don\'t need to worry about romping around with your foot on the loud pedal, especially since you\'ve got power front disc brakes to help keep you out of trouble. Flowmasters give it that traditional Mustang sound and modern Bullitt wheels are a direct bolt-on. Thanks to those modern hoops, it also carries grippy 235/55/17 Pirelli radials that elevate the car\'s handling in a big way. Nicely built and finished, this Mach 1 doesn\'t worry about pedigrees as much as having fun and looking great. This is an affordable way to enjoy Ford\'s most in-demand pony car. Call today! The Thunderbird was all-new in 1968, and with the Mustang nipping at its heels, Ford took the \'Bird upmarket, making it more luxury car than sporting personal coupe. Fortunately, cars like this lovely 1968 Thunderbird coupe also got a big horsepower injection to go with the increased size in the form of a thundering 429 cubic inch V8. Big power combined with rare options and the factory buildsheet truly make this one something special. More Lincoln than Ford at this point (the Mark III would be built on a 4-door Thunderbird chassis), the look is still unmistakably Thunderbird. The long hood/short deck theme continued, and while there\'s a lot of sheetmetal between here and there, it\'s all quite tasteful when wrapped in Highland Green (you know, the same color as Frank Bullitt\'s Mustang GT). The all-new shape was thoroughly modern, with a jet-inspired intake that also carries hidden headlamps and a flush-fitting bumper that highlights the subtle layering of the front fenders. Finish quality is quite nice, with a great shine on the paint, which is a fairly authentic reproduction of the original hue. There\'s also a padded landau top which is in great shape, showing none of the usual trouble spots. Out back, this \'Bird carries the now-famous full-width taillights, which operate sequentially in the best Thunderbird tradition. The luxury aspect of Ford\'s personal/luxury coupe are most readily apparent inside, where the sumptuous black upholstery looks \'60s cool and is beautifully preserved. Lots of burled walnut appliques do a nice job of making it look elegant, and the instrument panel features five round bezels each of which give you something different to look at. The steering wheel is wrapped in black leather and feels great in your hands, and things like A/C and power windows are part of the package. The dash vents will look familiar to anyone who has ridden in a suicide-door Continental, and there\'s an AM/FM stereo radio, which was cutting-edge tech back in \'68. The trunk is truly massive, with full upholstery to reinforce the luxury image that the Thunderbird was aiming for. The standard engine in the bigger, better Thunderbird was the mammoth 429 Thunder Jet, which was rated at a stunning 360 horsepower. Remember, this is a car that was just designed to move quietly and confidently, but in reality it was a tire-smoking brute that could scare small-block Mustangs on the street. This one looks fantastic in bright Ford Blue with its original air cleaner and tightly packed into the engine bay. Note details like the tiny oil cooler for the power steering pump, the big A/C compressor, and the softly rumbling dual exhaust that creates just the right luxury/muscle soundtrack. It\'s backed by a heavy-duty C6 3-speed automatic transmission and a set of 2.80 gears that allow the big V8 to just loaf along at supra-legal speeds. The undercarriage is highly original and in good condition. No, it\'s not show-worthy, but there\'s no structural rust or damage, the floors are shockingly clean, and it rides beautifully with that smooth luxury car attitude that\'s impossible to duplicate today. 15-inch wheels with turbine wheelcovers look right and carry 215/75/15 whitewall radials to duplicate the original look. Big, comfortable, luxurious, and surprisingly quick, this big \'Bird is an unusual and unusually potent cruiser that represents a lot of performance for the money. Call today! This absolutely astounding 1933 Ford 3-window coupe invites all kinds of speculation, but the biggest thought that hits everyone who sees it is that there are definitely new ways to make an old favorite look fresh. The body is by Factory 5, who have expanded their Cobra-building enterprise into hot rods with the same attention to detail and meticulous quality controls. With traditional hi-boy proportions and an exposed front suspension, this gorgeous Ford definitely has the right hot rod look, but adding cycle-style fenders gives it an entirely different profile that changes the entire game. Expertly finished to show standards, it wears deep Lexus Burgundy Pearl paint that seems to glow from within and gives the car a very expensive, upscale vibe. Fit and finish are excellent, completely show-worthy, and extremely impressive, particularly the suicide doors that fit flush and the trick tilting hood. The classic pointed \'33 Ford grille shell was raked back a few degrees to make it even longer, lower, and sleeker, and the fully enclosed bodywork adds a functional element that a lot of builders would overlook but which looks totally right. The top\'s got a mild chop and rake and as I said, the fenders make it look like nothing else on the road. Using Cobra-style buckets gives the interior a racy attitude that doesn\'t betray the roots of the hi-boy tradition. They also allow tall folks to get comfortable behind the wheel and with race-style belts, you definitely feel like you\'re driving something that can get you in trouble. Beautiful details like the custom 3-spoke steering wheel with leather wrapper, the engine-turned panel with white-faced Auto Meter gauges in it, and the B%26amp;M shifter sitting up high between the seats suggest that someone took their time to get the styling exactly right. Amenities include A/C, power windows, and a tilt steering column, so don\'t be afraid to drive this one every chance you get. The dash-mounted rear-view mirror is another Cobra-esque detail that surely comes from the Factory 5 guys imaginations, as do the aluminum pedals. A good-sized trunk is included, and it\'s finished with black carpets and a trick fuel filler that doesn\'t force you to move your gear to fill the tank. As a Factory 5 project, this one uses tried-and-true Mustang 5.0 components, starting with a fresh Ford Motorsports crate 302. Edelbrock supplied the carburetor and intake manifold, while plenty of chrome and polished billet aluminum make it look pretty. It\'s a neat fit in there, but since it\'s factory-engineered to fit, it\'s worlds more competent than any home-built rod would be. The suspension uses wishbones and inboard coil-overs up front, while a familiar Ford 8.8-inch rear axle hangs on a 3-link setup. There are disc brakes at all four corners and a TCI Streetfighter automatic transmission manages the gear swaps for you, so all you need to do is hang on. Staggered Torque Thrust style wheels with gray centers look a lot like Ford Bullitt hoops, and wear a modified big-n-little combination of 235/40/17 and 295/35/18 BFG radials. Not only is this car beautifully built and finished, but it\'s also fully engineered and shockingly fast. If you want a practical, useful rod that you can drive anywhere and collect the biggest trophies, there aren\'t many that can compare to this. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. For more information, please call (704) 598-2130 or toll free (866) 542-8392. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

The classic pointed '33 Ford grille shell was raked back a few degrees to make it even longer, lower, and sleeker, and the fully enclosed bodywork adds a functional element that a lot of builders would overlook but which looks totally right. The top's got a mild chop and rake and as I said, the fenders make it look like nothing else on the road. Using Cobra-style buckets gives the interior a racy attitude that doesn't betray the roots of the hi-boy tradition. They also allow tall folks to get comfortable behind the wheel and with race-style belts, you definitely feel like you're driving something that can get you in trouble. Beautiful details like the custom 3-spoke steering wheel with leather wrapper, the engine-turned panel with white-faced Auto Meter gauges in it, and the B&M shifter sitting up high between the seats suggest that someone took their time to get the styling exactly right. Amenities include A/C, power windows, and a tilt steering column, so don't be afraid to drive this one every chance you get. The dash-mounted rear-view mirror is another Cobra-esque detail that surely comes from the Factory 5 guys imaginations, as do the aluminum pedals. A good-sized trunk is included, and it's finished with black carpets and a trick fuel filler that doesn't force you to move your gear to fill the tank. As a Factory 5 project, this one uses tried-and-true Mustang 5.0 components, starting with a fresh Ford Motorsports crate 302. Edelbrock supplied the carburetor and intake manifold, while plenty of chrome and polished billet aluminum make it look pretty. It's a neat fit in there, but since it's factory-engineered to fit, it's worlds more competent than any home-built rod would be. Not only is this car beautifully built and finished, but it's also fully engineered and shockingly fast. If you want a practical, useful rod that you can drive anywhere and collect the biggest trophies, there aren't many that can compare to this. That means Cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great variety of aftermarket support, and that makes it pretty easy to build a roadster any way they like it. The problem then becomes the amount of time and money that such a massive undertaking requires. After spending years writing check after check to shop after shop, the enthusiast finally gets to enjoy a car that, by that point in time, they might not even want. Fortunately, there is a better solution! Why not let your friends at RK Motors Charlotte sell you a top-notch custom like this killer Factory Five stroker for half the price, and a fraction of the time, of building it yourself? BODYWORK/TRIM Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this Cobra is no exception. The car's virtually flawless profile, showcasing the typically tight tolerances that have become a Factory Five hallmark, lays excellent groundwork for a wet looking coat of glossy PPG Copperhead Pearl 2-stage. That 2-stage was applied at a professional finishing shop as part of a 2-year assembly that wrapped up in late 2005. Since Copperhead Pearl is always best when mixed with something else, the car's slick profile was detailed with Sherman Williams White Pearl stripes. And today, this super slick Cobra is a race-bred street king that's puts a refreshing twist on a timeless American classic. Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these Cobras from about five feet away. And naturally, since were featuring it, this roadster hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, a sculpted nose hangs a Dark Water Customs air splitter between satin quick lifts, mesh grilles and Cobra Valley Crystalite headlights. A sculpted hood anchors an integrated scoop between locking latches and billet Anvil Auto pins. Behind that hood, a stainless-trimmed windshield hangs a small mirror in front of clear wind wings and dark-tint visors. At the sides of the car, Satin Black exhaust pipes frame stylish 427 emblems, Finishline air extractors and a familiar, Monza-style fuel filler. And at the back of the car, a polished roll bar leads the eye to chrome-trimmed taillights, a locking trunk and two more satin quick lifts. ENGINE Great looks are only part of this Cobra's appeal: it also does a very good job of going really fast and making lots of awesome noise! Remove the car's tidy hood and you'll find a 347 cubic inch Ford stroker motor that utilizes a cast SCAT crank, forged SCAT rods, Keith Black hypereutectic pistons and a custom-grind hydraulic roller cam to churn big horsepower into ample torque. At the top of the balanced and blueprinted mill, a familiar Cobra air cleaner funnels wind in to a 1,200cfm Accel throttle body that's cinched to an Edelbrock Victor EFI intake. That intake is wired to 30 lb./hr. injectors, which siphon a Holley 250 pump, 6AN fluid lines and Edelbrock fuel rails. At the front of those rails, an Accel Dual Sync distributor utilizes Accel DFI 6A ignition and thick MSD Super Conductor plug wires to sequentially fire eight massive cylinders. Those cylinders combust under Dart Pro1 heads, which hide Chromoly pushrods, ARP bolts and Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers under a polished breather and Ford Racing valve covers. At the sides of those covers, coated Ford Racing headers feed high-flow Factory Five cats and stainless DNA mufflers. At the front of those headers, roller timing components back a billet March accessory drive, which spins a rebuilt alternator at the side of a reverse-rotation water pump. And that pump feeds a custom Tri-State Motorsports radiator, which fronts a large electric puller fan and Zoops expansion tank. Electronically, fresh American Autowire wiring works with Accel DFI Thruster EFI engine management to ensure miles of smiles. And niceties like Clevite bearings, Hastings rings, a Melling oil pump and a Forte's dual master cylinder add to the car's form and function. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Rule number one of hot rodding: an excellent drivetrain isn't worth the metal it's built from unless it's paired with a competent chassis. Behind this Cobra's hot small block, a poly-mounted, McLeod- shrouded Tremec TKII 5-speed pairs a steel Ford Motorsport flywheel with a Weber clutch and Centerforce pressure plate. That tough transmission spins a custom Forte's driveshaft, which is hooked to a spry Ford 8.8-inch axle stuffed with 3.27 gears. That axle pushes a Factory Five 3-link that's outfitted with Koni coil-overs, a Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar and a Vintage Performance Motorcars banana bracket. Opposite that rear end, an independent front-half hangs tubular control arms and two more Koni coil-overs between SN-95 Mustang spindles and a second Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar. That suspension is guided by ATSCO power rack-and-pinion steering, which mixes a Flaming River lower shaft and Breeze Automotive bushings with Whitby's FAI modification and Forte's bump steer elimination. Stops come courtesy of manual disc brakes, which pair aluminum PBR calipers with two 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors and two 11.65-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Power meets the pavement through anthracite Bullitt wheels, which twist 255/40ZR17 Nitto NT05 street radials in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT05 drag radials. And items like a high-torque mini starter, a custom driveshaft hoop, a quality Canton oil pan and a Trick Flow differential cover round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Take one look at the accompanying specs sheet and you'll see that this roadster was built to keep. And even though its cockpit still honors the purist nature of a no-nonsense, track-shredding sports car, many well-planned details ratchet up both comfort and appeal. Lightweight Kirkey seats stretch tight leather hides under heavy-duty safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a super clean dash founds reliable Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite telemetry between a 12-volt outlet, two brake proportioning knobs and a self-canceling Russ Thompson turn signal switch. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang Herb's custom panels inside Dark Water Customs sill trim. Below those doors, custom Loop Carpet anchors a North Racecars e-brake and Pro-5.0 shifter between a custom-dropped foot box and piped Factory Five floor mats. At the center of that carpet, a custom console balances stainless cupholders beneath crisp Alpine Type-S speakers. The driver feels the asphalt through a polished steering wheel, which laps assorted Russ Thompson foot pedals. The passenger stows cargo in a carpeted trunk, which balances a modern Alpine CD player opposite a brand new, billet-cinched Optima battery. And high quality Second Skin insulation works with power-operated Cobra Earl's foot box vents to combat the big engine's heat.
